She loved thrift stores,
there was simply so much. Thousands of things, each with their own memories and tales, it was impossible to refuse many of them.
So there she was, the odd ball in the large second-hand store, floating around with a cart full of well...too much, not that Ignacia much noticed. Though the goods seemed random too the average eye, they had something about them. Something she could use, something she needed.
She was currently holding a small snow-globe, admiring the little new york city inside it. Who owned this little thing? They must have gotten it on vacation. Why did they give it away? Was the thing plagued with bad memories? Or maybe memories too painfully good for its former owner's current life?
"What do you think happened?" She asked turning to look at the girl nearby.
ooc: sorry its so vague! I wasn't sure who you wanted to throw in. If theres anything u want changed/clarified just say <3

Ew. Thrift stores. Her mom was obsessed with them - someone else's trash is another's treasure. Almost on a weekly basis, Midori's mother dragged the little girl to a different store on the rotation, and it was getting boring.
She dragged Midori to a very large one, and as soon as they got there, the girl ran to an aisle far away from her mother. There was another girl in the aisle, but she didn't care until the girl spoke.
"Mm? Happened to what? The snow globe?" she asked the taller, much older girl. It was just a ball with some gel and fake snow in it, not to mention some little image or mini sculpture.

She smiled at the young girl next to her, she was a little thing, with bright eyes and a...sour? No not sour, cavillous air to her "Yeah, She shook it a little, looking up to it in the light. "I mean, at one point in their long...or maybe short lives, someone took the time and money to buy this little globe, to love and remember the little utopia it represents! And then...something must have transpired, you know? and now its here, alone and forgotten in this labyrinth of memories...why would they abandon it like that?"
She pursed her lips, completely transfixed with the object.

The girl was annoying Midori. She must've been a hippie, because every word that came out from her babbling mouth sounded so weird it was the only outcome.
"Mmm, yes. It sounds like they bought it on a trip, went back home, and it sat on their mantle for a few months. Then, when they decided they were bored of looking at it, they brought it here. Wonderfully boring story, case closed," Midori said, very sarcastically.

Well, Ignacia looked down at the girl with confused, slightly hurt, wide eyes, she supposed that was one way to look at it...
But really, it was kinda concerning for Ignacia. Adults seemed to talk like this in droves but little children? What was she like eleven? They were supposed to be imaginative, open-minded, pure and wise. This certainly wasn't any of those (not that it wasn't valid)
She pursed her lips, turning the globe in her grey, slender hands. "But, that would indicate they got bored of their memories." she argued, something fundamentally wrong, no? You couldn't just get bored of a memory, memories were what made people up, without them they were just bodies, sad really. "Even if such a thing could be, you'd have to wonder just why they got bored of them..."
Such a shame this little girl already gained such a mass of cynicism...She should probably fix that...somehow. @midori

The hippie was acting more and more like the globe was a treasure, and it was annoying Midori more. Little trinkets made in factories sold cheaply and in great abundances didn't really concern her. She looked at the little city in the globe as the hippie rolled it around in her hands, and it brought nothing to her mind.
The little girl thought the whole thing about getting bored of memories seemed rather stupid. Most memories were something trivial, like getting a jar of peanut butter taken out of your hands. That had happened to Midori at school yesterday.
"Usually, you get tired of reliving things, because it gets boring," she said, not caring what the hippie would say. "I don't feel any need to relive my last school trip, because it sucked."

Oh dear, this was troubling. Ignacia blinked at Midori, as she listened to the girls words. What must have lead the child to think like this? "Yes..." she ventured, accepting the girl's latter comment. "I understand why someone would try to block painful memories, as unhealthy as it is...but to simply rid yourself of the benign ones?"
And even if it was benign, the globe was purchased, an effort made to own it, surely it would have represented something more than simply neutral?
But at this point the globe was becoming a minor detail to the more concerning issue of the girl's cynicism. "What is your name?" she asked.

"Mmm? And why should I give you my name, miss memories-are-very-important? I don't even know you," Midori said, very harshly. Not giving personal information to strangers was one of the first rules of life. Everyone knew that.
This was getting out of hand. Memories were just that. What she chose to do with them was her choice, and none of the hippie's business. She was prying waaaaaaaaaaaaay too much.
"If you really want to know my name, tell me why," Midori said, raising her eyebrows.

"Why?" she asked. "Names are...special." she started, "Though they belong to us their primary use is to help others know who we are, to connect between individuals and to foster a universal respect between them." she started to drift off before perking up again "Everyone with reason has a name! I always ask early so I can be respectful as possible to them."
Though all she asked for all three reasons, the girl was mostly looking for the first bit, names also told her of the owner's social context and hinted towards their fately plan, something crucial for their development. In Ignacia's mind, knowing this little girl's name would certainly help in figuring out just why the girl had gained so much acidity towards life.
"I'm Ignacia" She smiled and waved a little.

More spiritual mumbo jumbo. This was making no sense. Universal respect was the lamest idea in the universe, because no one ever fully respected anyone. There was always that one thing about people that made it impossible to take them seriously.
"Midori," she said, slightly embarrassed. The little girl wasn't even Japanese, but of course, her parents were obsessed with that country. Midori wouldn't be surprised if one day they up and moved to Japan.
"Now, Ignacia, are you a hippie?" she asked, not caring for what the girl said.

Midori, she repeated. What a nice name, bright and quick off the tongue but she could definitely see where some of that acidity came from. But that didn't mean she had to be as shut out as she was, there was a line separating healthy natural and concerning adapted traits, a balance. Ignacia just had to find it. "I like it," Ignacia concluded.
A hippy? Ignacia giggled, remembering all the various spanish communes around she visited as a child. In a way she missed it, but the groups were always too dependent on toxins and neither her or they were willing to change. "My parents identified as such, I...left the culture a while ago. There was a disagreement."

It was the first time anyone except her parents said they liked her name. Midori turned a little red. Any sort of compliment was rare, so she took what she could. "Uh, thanks," the little girl said.
A disagreement? One more way for her to poke and prod Ignacia for info. So she was born with hippie parents, and thus must've been slightly raised that way. "What kind of disagreement?" Midori was dying to know.

Midori blushed at the comment and Ignacia smiled a little more. Perhaps the girl had difficulty accepting herself? that would make sense, Ignacia decided, it's hard to see the good in others when one couldn't see the good in themselves.
"Wellll," the girl started, biting her lip and looking towards the sky as she considered the best way to explain the situation to the little girl. "I believe that you, both in body and mind, are a gift from the divine." She decided not to go into the relations between the goddess and gods just yet, it was too complex right now. "Thus taking in toxins, such as alcohol or drugs, that do harm to those gifts makes a mockery of them."
She sighed, "Unfortunately many of the culture have become addicted to such substances and I can't convince them to end their habits..."

A gift from the divine? The girl snorted. It sounded so ridiculous, and besides, evolution easily proved this theory wrong. However, she had to respect Ignacia's wishes. Composing herself, Midori pulled her phone out her pocket. She unlocked it and pulled up the wikipedia page for human evolution.
"This," she said, passing her phone to the older girl, "is the answer to how humans were made. A little thing called evolution happened." She tried to sound important and mighty, but it probably had no effect. "Besides, if I were a gift from the divine, the world would actually like me." That remark came out in a unhappy, tired tone.

Ignacia raised her eyebrows at the girl and watched curiously as she pulled up a mobile and handed it to the the oddly dressed girl. Ignacia took it graciously, scrolling through the page briefly. Surprisingly enough, she smiled a little. "Yes," she agreed "I do not dispute the theory of evolution, however where did it start and how is it, after all these eons, that only we have reason and intellect? Surely there'd be more complex, humanoid creatures wouldn't there?"
And then came the core Ignacia was looking for. She gave the girl a sympathetic look. She had seen cases like this before. When a window was grimy it was hard to see the sun and once its rays were forgotten it was all too easy to only see the grime, to think that was status quo. "Midori," she said, her voice taking on a serious tone. "I can personally guarantee you are the absolute best possible gift to your world."
