Angel bit his lip, tracing circles on the floor with his fingertip. He had asked Nevada to marry him as a last resort, as assurance he'd be taken care of when he couldn't make his own money. Sex was all he had to sell, and nobody was going to pay to fuck around with scarface.
He had tried to hold his tongue, all these weeks he'd stayed hidden away in their bedroom. The ring was a promise, but promises could always be broken. They weren't even married yet, Nevada still had time to change his mind. Angel knew he wouldn't, but at the same time was terrified that he would.
Enough? Love and marriage wasn't enough for Angel. What was he supposed to do with it? It wasn't anything he could measure, nothing he could put a price on; sell, buy, or auction. He didn't understand any of what Nevada held in such high esteem.
He shook his head slightly, looking down and watching the bunny, which had begun to hop about and explore the penthouse. His vision blurred with tears that he tried to blink back.

Angel did everything to avoid looking at Nevada. He wouldn’t have that anymore. The man knelt down beside the blond, tilting his face up to force him to meet his gaze. Nevada didn’t give Angel any time to resist him as he leaned in and pressed a kiss to his lips. He poured every ounce of his love into the kiss that he pushed past Angel’s teeth. Nevada had the capability to learn quickly. He might not have learned much about what to do in the bedroom (in the way that Angel wanted anyways) but he had picked up a few things from all their previous kisses. Angel couldn’t measure love unless it was physically presented to him, right? So Nevada would just have to show him in the only way he would understand. ANGEL ALESSI

He was face to face with Nevada suddenly, in a way that he hadn't been for a long time now. Instinct told him to jerk back every bit as much as it told him to lean into it, and he froze when Nevada's lips were against him. He crouched, tense until he seemed to melt into the kiss; not kissing back but softening.
Almost without thinking, his hand reached out between him and took up a loose hold of Nevada's shirt. When they pulled apart, Angel could taste own his tears on his lips when he pressed them together. He wiped at his face, looking down again. "Nobody wants me if I'm not pretty." He murmured, as if to remind himself.

For as long as he could, he held the kiss. Angel didn’t kiss back. He didn’t pull away either and that was more than enough for him. His was sure his feelings had made it through in their mixing of saliva. Sometimes it pained him to kiss Angel. He thought back to the man he had caught Angel in bed with often. But that man wasn’t here. He wasn’t who Angel wanted in his time of need. Nevada placed his hand on Angel’s check, using the leverage to tilt his face up so he was forced to look into his eyes. “I want you. I have always wanted you. Is there need for anyone else to?” Or did he want someone besides him? He kept that question from lifting of his tongue. “I love you Angel. Must I prove it to you again and again? I will if I must, again and again until my feelings reach you.”ANGEL ALESSI

When he lowered his head, Nevada lifted it again, and Angel stared back with wide eyes, shrugging again. He let go of Nevada, instead spinning the ring on his finger. He should have been happy - Nevada would do anything for him, Nevada would never leave him - but he wasn't. Not now and not before, even when he'd still had his looks.
"And then you won't want me any more." He said, though his tone was flat, tired sounding. He still toying with the ring. Nevada knew he didn't believe in happily ever after.

As much as Angel wanted to, Nevada wouldn’t let him look away. He had to face the eyes that looked at him with only love despite all the hurt that he had endured at Angel’s hands. He had to take in the unflinching gaze. Nevada lightly traced the scar with his thumb. “You have given me many reasons to leave. Yet I am still by your side. My want for you will not fade.”He might not have believed in love or a happily ever after. And it was likely that Angel would probably never love him back. The blonde might even sleep with another man in his bed again. Yet, he wanted to make Angel believe because he couldn’t live in a world without Angel. He had come to need his presence in his life. “I love you with all my heart.”ANGEL ALESSI

It didn't hurt any more, but Angel flinched away from Nevada's touch. He could practically picture the scar's path across his face when Nevada traced it. He tensed as if it did hurt. It hurt to think about it.
But Nevada never looked at him with horror or disgust. Nevada, who had seen Angel at his worst already. He'd seen Angel drunk and sick and mussed and dirty. What Angel knew of love wasn't Nevada's love. But then again, what did Angel know about love? He knew what he saw, what people told him.
"What if... I'm broken?" He looked up at Nevada with his brow furrowed, tears threatening to spill again. Maybe he was broken. He'd done a lot of bad things and maybe there was a reason you weren't supposed to do them because they made you this way. They made you into somebody who couldn't remember ever loving anybody or anything. Angel thought of the people who told him they loved him and the way he had said nothing, or the way he had lied. "What if I'll never love anyone back?" What if he just couldn't? Would Nevada still want him then?

The scar was nothing more than a reminder that he nearly lost Angel. In the accident that had caused the blemish, he narrowly escaped with his life. Nevada didn’t want to think about what a world without him would be like. He was just relieved to be able to go home with the blonde. As long as Angel was alive and well, he was happy. “If you are broken, I will repair any damages you may have suffered.” He replied. “Even if I cannot, my love will still remain the same.” He must have accepted the fact that Angel might never love him in return. The circumstances of their meetings weren’t the best anyways. “It is all right.” He assured Angel. “You do not have to love anyone.”ANGEL ALESSI

He was probably beyond help now. Angel sighed, slumping to sit on the ground. He didn't think he ever would, but even if he didn't love Nevada, he was sure he liked Nevada, at least. That nobody had ever taken care of him like this.
He leaned back against Nevada, feeling his steadiness and warmth, finding even more comfort in facing away. Sometimes he wondered if Nevada didn't do this all out of pity. But this was the closest they had been in a long time. The rabbit had hopped over, curiously, and Angel reached a hand out towards it, a smile tugging at his lips again. "So what are we gonna name it?"

There was no other response besides a sigh. But he didn’t need anything else. Even if Angel treated his heartfelt words as nothing but dust to be brushed off, he would still love Angel unconditionally. He had found no one else who made his heart flutter the way the blonde did. There probably wouldn’t be anyone else either. He settled for the light contact of Angel’s back pressed against him. An impulse prompted him to take him in his arms. Nevada didn’t for fear of Angel pushing him away. The contact was more than enough for him. “ We may name it whatever you like. If you cannot think up a name, I could provide you with a few suggestions.” Angel probably wouldn’t like anything he suggested though. ANGEL ALESSI

Angel had always wondered why Nevada had never gotten a pet before, if he had been so lonely. He was something of a pet maybe, but savage and feral as much as Nevada had tried. Maybe he had become tame, because he liked the way Nevada's arms wrapped around him. He didn't shrug him off.
He considered the rabbit, with its velvety brown fur and floppy ears and twitching nose. He'd never had a pet before - he'd never had the money or time. "What do you wanna name it?" Angel said, more out of curiosity than anything. He was sure they would be ridiculous.

Content with his books and the peace within his home, Nevada never wanted a pet. Some part of him had wanted a companion however. Why else would he bring Angel into his life? The blond was several times worse than any pet could be. Angel usually made him happy though. He rested his cheek against Angel’s silky haired head. “I am not sure,” admitted Nevada. He paused for a moment as he considered a list of names. Angel wouldn’t get any of them. “Perhaps Napoleon. Is that name strange for a rabbit?”ANGEL ALESSI

The coldness between them had dissolved, the coldness imposed by Angel - don't look at me, don't touch me. If he pushed Nevada away, he knew that would be that and he'd be left alone. But now his hands slid up to rest on Nevada's.
He knew to expect a strange suggestion, but he scoffed anyways. "Napoleon?" It sounded weird, but familiar, and Angel's brows knit together as he tried to remember where he'd heard it before. "Like the cake, right?" It was kind of cute.

It felt like they were actually fiance’s with Angel in his arms again. The barrier erected by the blonde’s avoidance was gone for the moment. He didn’t know when Angel would shut him out again so he had to make the most of this moment. It wasn’t going to last forever. If only it would, though. He couldn’t stand the distance between them. Despite all the blonde did, he loved him and forgave all his wrongdoings. Nevada wasn’t guilt free either. “Are you not familiar with the French emperor Napoleon Bonaparte?” At least Angel was familiar with the name at least, even if it was because of a cake. ANGEL ALESSI
