OPEN It was evening, right around dinner time, as Theia made a path across the grass in Athens Park. The half-sun was setting shadows from the benches and trees, and provided a good amount of obscurity for the brunette's task. Specifically, among a small cluster of bushes and trees a little ways away from the main path. She settled herself down in cover of the brush, and pulled out a book from her bag. From there she opened to a dog-eared page and shifted her concentration to a specific character and their ability. All things considered, a public park wasn't the best place to practice her new-found ability. But she didn't have a desire to accidentally destroy something in her small apartment. And if something did happen while she was here, her car was within sprinting distance. A few minutes passed while she calmed her nerves, and a couple more to muster up enough concentration required to do what she desired. Eventually, though, she could feel something happening. And then the ability didn't just belong to the book; it was hers as well. She figured that her bag was a good thing to try telekinesis on, but instead, a few leaves that were scattered leisurely floated up and out of her reach. It wasn't what she was aiming for, but it was something, and she didn't want to break concentration right then; not when it was going so well. They remained in the air, abnormally still against the wind that decided to blow by right then. made by CAPTAIN of GANGNAM STYLE

| Mi ran through the park, trying to find the best hiding spot. A bunch of kids from school had asked if she wanted to come and 'hang out' in Athens Park later. She'd quickly agreed, and showed up at the time they'd said, but when she got there, she found out that 'hang out' meant get pummeled with water guns (even though there was a bit of snow on the ground.)
Here she ended up, running off the path to avoid getting squirted again, branches in her face and leaves getting caught in her pigtails. Panting, Midori came to a stop behind some bushes near a girl who looked around twenty. The kids probably wouldn't get her with another person nearby.
Looking over at the girl, who was doing something weird with a book, Mi noticed she had made some leaves fly up into the air and stay there, while they should've blown away in the breeze. Pinching herself to make sure she wasn't dreaming or anything, Mi decided this girl wasn't normal, and blurted "How did you make those leaves move?" at the girl, putting on a demanding face.

@midori A sharp, feminine voice snapped her concentration like a twig, and without a force to hold them still, the leaves were caught on the wind and blown away. She blew out air, suddenly feeling exhausted—her nerves were jelly and she was out of breath. She turned her torso carefully to see who had interrupted, but softened her stance when she saw that it was a child. The girl couldn't have been older than twelve, which made the situation seem easier. Still, Theia was caught very off guard, and the girl looked so demanding right then, that the woman was sure she wouldn't take any kind of no for an answer. "Ah... She closed the book, folded her hands over it as some kind of anchor, as if it could conjure up a good excuse. It didn't, and Theia scrambled for one for a few moments before replying. "It was a... magic trick. I'm a magician—I'm practicing." She didn't feel as guilty lying to a child as she would have if she was lying to an adult, but she knew that she would chide herself for it later anyways. made by CAPTAIN of GANGNAM STYLE

| The hesitation was a dead giveaway that the brunette was lying. A magician? Really? Mi was surprised the woman would pull that excuse with her and expect her to fall for it. "Honestly? You expect me to believe you? I'm not a little kid, you know," she said, furrowing her brow, giving an annoyed look.
Mi started to pace around the little clearing, while looking at the woman. She had decided to try to pressure the woman into telling her the answer, though Mi thought she'd make sure there was no more lying. "It was pretty easy to tell you were lying, magicians are generally stage people who use technical illusions," the girl said, attempting intimidation, though it wasn't like her childish pigtails would help her attempt at all. "Now, would you mind telling me how you really did that?"

Theia had to refrain from pointing out that yes, technically, the girl was a little kid. She looked like the kind of girl that wouldn’t take a comment like that lightly, and frankly, Theia wanted to keep from making her the least agitated as possible.
She worried about how she might get out of this. Lying was certainly an option, though any further non-truths would probably be void, considering her first attempt was bad enough that a child didn’t believe it. She decided to stay as close to the truth as possible without exactly telling the girl anything useful—it was probably her best option.
”I concentrated really hard.” She reluctantly admitted. The last thing she wanted was a little girl telling all her friends that she’d met someone with superpowers.

| Mi pondered a minute on the next answer the woman gave. Technically it could be possible (that Soviet lady) but the girl didn't really believe it. "Are you lying? 'Cause it seems like you're really trying to hide something, and I'm really not a stupid little kid. Honestly, learn that already," she said rather rudely with a glare.
Feeling tired, Mi sat down near the woman, to cement the fact that she wasn't leaving without an answer. Feeling that there would be more hesitation, she added "I'm not leaving without a solid answer." With that she pulled out a little plastic container from her pocket and starting eating the crackers inside, taking small bites quickly.

Theia felt the need to gently reprimand the girl somehow, remind her of her manners, but then she sat herself down next to Theia and stated that she wasn’t leaving without an answer. The girl’s stubbornness reminded Theia of the girls who ruled the playground when she was a little girl, and she frowned only slightly. Sighing, she waited for the girl to say something else, but she seemed content eating from a container of crackers until she received an answer.
”Okay, I’ll give you an honest answer—but will you first tell me how you came across me in the first place?” It felt only fair that she know something about how the girl had seen Theia and her ability in use. If luck was on her side, the girl might forget all about it in a month’s time. Maybe even less.

| Maybe this time it'd be the truth. Hopefully, she thought, and decided on telling the woman how she stumbled upon her. Quickly finishing the crackers by stuffing 3 into her mouth, Mi opened her mouth to speak.
"A cwople kwids chased mwe here with water guns," she said, finishing chewing mid-sentence. Realizing she sounded pretty weird with her mouth full, Mi swallowed again so there was no more cracker in her mouth, because she probably just lost any ounce of respect she had.

Theia watched the girl, mildly entertained at how she spoke with all the cracker crumbs in her mouth. She sounded pretty strange, but it was cute in a childish sort of way.
Her eyebrows creased in concern when she heard the girl's explanation, for a moment forgetting her end of the deal. "Were they bullying you?" she asked sincerely. Right then she almost felt bad for the girl—and then she realized that she didn't even know the girl's name. "What's your name, hm?"

| The first question was a buller to her pride like one to her chest. Bullied? Her? In her opinion, she was never bullied. Deep down, the normal part of her knew it was bullying, but Mi wasn't going to admit it. "Bullying? I don't think so. It was more like a water gun ambush, although it's a little cold for that," she said with a shrug.
Now the woman asked for her name. All parents, good ones at least, told their kids not to tell their name to a stranger. Mi contemplated about giving the woman her name for a minute, and finally said "Midori. But I'd like to know yours, too."

Theia doubted the likelihood of it not being bullying, but she didn't press the issue any further. Regardless of how old the girl was, it wasn't any of her business.
"Midori," She repeated. "My name is Theia." She looked around, at the sky and how it was turning darker shades of pink and purple by the minute. Dinner time was almost over, and soon the sun would be gone. "Midori, I think it's about time that you got home. Won't your parents be missing you?"

| The woman's name was Theia. Finally, an answer that seemed to be true. Although Mi was kind of being treated like a little kid, she didn't mind very much until Theia suggested she go home.
"I told my parents I was going out, so they won't be worried," she said, rather unhappy at the fact that Theia thought she should go home. "Besides, you haven't given me an answer yet like you said you would."

Theia blew out air and considered Midori from a sidelong glance. For God's sake, it was just a little girl. It wasn't like she had much to lose. Her parents probably wouldn't even believe her.
She wasn't even sure where to begin. "I made the leaves float by... well, taking that, uh, power from a character in this book." She lifted it with her hand and waved it for Midori to see. It was probably best to keep the description as minimal as possible, anyways. A little girl didn't need to know about a magic fruit or the creature that had given it to her.

| Her heart skipped a beat when Theia told her she took the power from a character in a book. "Amazing," Mi muttered to herself, not caring if she was heard.
Part of her wanted to take this explanation and leave, or find out more of how Theia got this power. Finally, after much fighting herself in her mind, Mi said "How did you get to take the power from the character in the book?"

Theia's heart skipped a beat anxiously as Mirdori continued with another question. This was the opposite of what she had wanted; kids her age didn't need to know of how she'd acquired powers in the first place; she was afraid that she'd start to look for it.
"Someone... gave it to me." She said slowly. "But I'm still not sure why." Reflecting on the whole event in general was hard. The experience now had seemed rushed, erratic. Blurry at best, with the dragon being the clearest and most frightening moment. Revisiting it wasn't at all pleasant.
