The snow dusting the island city hadn’t yet settled when the sea became restless and a storm whipped up amidst the churning waves. Something about the brewing storm caught Creation’s attention. His unseen presence moved over the eye of the growing tempest. Oh, this didn’t look good at all. He tapped his transparent chin thoughtfully as he considered the situation. There wasn’t much he could do about this little situation. But he knew someone who could.
He disappeared completely from the area as the entity broke free of its underwater prison, pushing to the surface on a spiraling pillar of seawater. Its aim was set on the island closest to it—Nova Athenis. Dark clouds swirled around the bustling island, growing more sinister as the being closed in. To anyone on Nova Athenis, it seemed a typical storm. No one was aware of the danger. All of its citizens were gathered around Main Street to celebrate the New Year with a parade.
Your first posts should be placing them on Main Street. The darkening clouds are obvious but nothing else should be noteworthy until the entity is actually on the island. After the stage is set, the real event will begun. There are SIX spots that are up for grab; however, Laika, Katze, Nancy, Boo and Nimbus, as winners of the writing contest, have first dibs on these spots. They can choose to take one or not. They will be compensated as such. Be creative and have fun!

It was customary to celebrate the coming New Year with a bang.
Petunia stood amongst the crowds on the main street, rubbing her hands together, awed at the snow and the masses of people gathered together to feel some cheer and spirit no doubt everyone would need for the beginning of a new time. The blonde was supposed to be meeting up with a co-worker today, but the New Year parade was beginning to start and there was no sign of her.
Looking up to the sky suddenly, eyes wanting a break from the mass of people and colour, they noticed thick, grey clouds instead. Was that normal? Petunia rose an eyebrow, but paid it no mind. There was nothing on the weather report last night that would predict horrendous weather, but she didn't bring an umbrella either, which was worrying.
Noting a large bright object float past, her attention caught on that instead, thus she brought herself to her tip toes to get a better look, already forgotten about the strange weather and the cancelled without a word meeting.

It's New Years and Star is in her element.
She left her camera - her baby - at home and opted for one of those polaroid cameras for instant pictures. She's been handing out pictures of strangers to strangers for a while. It's fun and she's enjoying herself.
The clouds are gray today which - she thinks - contrasts with the whole supposed party and parade going on. New Years is supposed to be bright and exciting, the dawning of a New Year and a new time, but clouds seem to disagree with the energy and cheer that's going on down on the surface. For a second she thinks it might rain, she doesn't have an umbrella and it could ruin her camera.
Then again, this isn't her expensive camera. So, she continues taking pictures and handing them off to strangers. The clouds can rain all they want, but Star is convinced they won't be able to rain on her parade.

| To any other animal owner the idea of bring a group of hamsters to a new year’s parade would seem preposterous, indeed though, these little rodents wanted to see the display; holding his underwear and other personal effects ransom underneath the floorboards. The three huddled together with their heads sticking out over the area of scarf underneath Valentin’s chin, wriggling with excitement with eyes full of anticipation. It was already freezing, but a sudden bitter cold breeze made him squash all beneath his eye sockets into the scarf - quickly assigning his gloved hands directly into the thick coat pockets.
Peculiar, Valentin looked down at his cohorts with face still covered almost completely in wool – they suddenly became incredibly uncomfortable, curling in on themselves into the deepest depths or in other words, hiding.
What’s wrong?
They didn’t respond, which in itself was an answer; that things were incredibly wrong, leading to a new chill over the man’s body, one of apprehension. Something bad was going to happen.

He didn't know there was going to be a parade. He'd been sitting at a café since sunrise, perched on one of their chairs, until they opened and asked him to order something or leave. Jamie got a coffee – the night had been typically sleepless, and he felt like the walking dead. Eventually he'd been sitting there with his cup emptied long enough, and they asked him to leave.
He didn't protest. The streets were crowded, and he let himself be caught in the current of bodies, jostled along, watching the bobbing floats and costumed paraders. He didn't like crowds, much, but he had a bad feeling for a different reason as he lifted his face to the sky. He squinted, swearing he could see birds.
Birds like vultures or crowds, dark and foul and circling the heads of those above. One of them swooped low, and Jamie tried to step out of its way, sure that its claws had grazed him, at the very least mussed his hair. He paused, still stumbling along in the flow of the crowd. Nobody else seemed to see the birds, nobody else seemed to have begun panicking.

Oh, how exciting! Parades were always one of Miles' favorite things to watch during the holidays. There was something wonderful about people coming together to line the streets and watch giant floats drive down slowly as they sang and tossed confetti and candy to the people on the sidelines.
However, Miles wasn't standing in the crowd. No, he didn't particularly feel like being surrounded by random strangers or getting hit in the face with hard candies. It also looked as if it was going to rain, so he and his butler stood a little bit a ways from the huge crowed and took cover by a nearby building in case it started to drizzle.
Miles didn't mind the rain, but he didn't want to get caught in it. He was wearing nice clothes and they wouldn't do very well in rainy weather. If he would've known it was going to rain, he would've worn something else more appropriate. At least he was warm. That was always nice.

Keeping up an image was more exhausting than sneaking into houses and stealing whatever caught his eye. But somehow, sticking around in the crowds, just managing to shake off his babysitter - or, if he were to quote his mother, his chaperone.
He had bumped into someone, quite a few someones with how crowded it was. If Dominick could snarl, he would have, instead he excused himself, weaving around the masses as he looked for either a rare, familiar face or a space that was more open than most.
It seemed that the latter was more common, and Dominick took the chance to look up at the dreary sky. Kind of ironic, an event such as New Years opening with rather ominous looking rain clouds.
Dominick hoped it would rain.

Jovial music filled the air for the moment. The dark storm cloud swirling above the masses were so easily ignored in favor of the joyful festivities. Just a little rain, they thought. How wrong they were. Bluish electricity crackled in the depths of the cloud. One jagged bolt burst forth and hit a parade balloon, bringing the thing crashing down explosively. Fire flew in balls around the street and lit various floats on fire. Two more bolts followed the first to strike a few other parade balloons.
Chaos broke out; however, before anyone could escape the mayhem, walls of water rose up around each end of the street. A surprisingly humanoid being stepped through the water barrier. He looked around at all the frightened people. Then he let the water surged forth over Main Street. It flooded the entire area and seemed strangely contained as it swirled around and seemed to drain away. The being who causes it stood right where he was before, laughing manically.
The rolls for this round are as followed: Petunia (9), Star (4), Valentin (9), Jamie (3), Miles (2), Dominick (10). The higher the number, the better off you are. The lower, the worse. Please keep these in mind when posting.

While it didn't really rain, Dominick had to say that he wasn't too disappointed with what happened instead.
Lightning struck in several areas, and he must have picked a rather good place to stand because he was perfectly fine. Nothing managed to fall on him - though, near him was a different matter, the streets were an absolute wreck - and the wave of water instead hit some unfortunate building that he hid behind instead of soaking him.
He couldn't say the same for his soaked feet, however. Thankfully, he wasn't standing in a pool of it, as brief as it happened.
Against his better judgement, Dominick decided to go help out someone who was less fortunate than he was. Preferably not the brown haired woman who looked like someone he had robbed at one point.

At one moment it's happy go lucky time, then the next he feels as if an 18 wheeler came crashing through and pushed him across main street. Miles had no idea what hit him and when everything finally settled down, he was able to breathe again.
His throat and chest ached from accidentally swallowing down water or having it being forced up his nose and he coughed erratically, gasping for breath. He heaved himself up, arms shaking just a bit as he looked around, still coughing up water, trying to figure out what had, or was, going on around him.
Nearby was a wall and he used it to pull himself to his feet, leaning up against it once he was stable, panting hard with his head up against the damp brick.
Laughter caught his attention and he looked around for it, zoning in on the man being the cause of it and Miles growled with fury, fingertips digging back against the side of the building. "You almost killed me!! And you got my nice clothes wet--they're ruined now!" Miles shouted out towards the lunatic, voice catching in his throat every now and again from the small amounts of water still stuck there.
Belatedly Miles realized that the being wouldn't care about cashmere sweaters or silk shirts being ruined, but that didn't calm Miles' anger.

Honestly, Star didn't even notice the water until she was knee deep in it. She was too caught up in the fire balls flying across the sky. An eye behind the viewfinder of her polaroid camera and a finger clicking, snapping pictures as fast as she could was all that she could think about. Well, at least until she realised the water was no longer just knee high and she started to freak out a little, just a little though.
Not being able to swim does that to people. In the midst of her little freak out fest, Star dropped her camera. It's not her expensive one, but it's still a camera she paid good money for and film that cost even more. The water drained and the dropped camera clattered to the ground. She knew - realistically - that the camera was gone, but she had a little bit of hope that made her believe it might've been okay.
It wasn't, it was fucked and Star almost screamed when it didn't turn on. She threw it on the ground in anger before glancing around. What kind of fucking New Years party was this.

It took her a good five ten minutes to escape the crowd; which was lucky, really. She was thirsty, and wanted to see if the neighbouring establishments were open so she could buy herself some water.
During her search, it turned out Petunia missed out on the highlights; completely bypassing the freakish blue lighting, and only realising that a fire had diced through the parade when she heard the sound of panic rush through the entire street. Petunia could only hold onto her cheeks in shock when the water rushed in afterwards. A brief thought fluttered into her mind to get to high ground, but by the time she had any resolve to do anything, the water was already lapping at her feet.
Petunia yelped, thirst now completely forgotten. She looked around, panicked, until her eyes laid upon the tall humanoid, who was laughing like a madman. Her mouth now went dry, trying to breathe evenly. But even Petunia knew there was no point trying to search for a logical explaination - the water at her feet was too cold to be a conjuring from a dream.
She heard a blue haired man scream at tall not quite human thing, and Petunia shook her head, knowing it wasn't nice to shout, even if he'd done something wrong.
Her feet squirmed as she tried to weave her way through the water. She didn't want to be alone. That was for sure.

| They were right, but when it comes to predictions, any human, alive or dead, pales in comparison to the powers of the animal sixth sense. Valentin stood fairly far from the front, up a flight of steps with a parade balloon attached to the top of its handrail - no longer however, as a crackled bang threw searing rubber onto Valentin’s cheek. Hooting in shock he swatted it off with a heavy gloved palm, using the same hand to cover the burn; the hamsters tried to rub against it so make it better but only irritated it further.
He looked around, desperate to find a source of water for the skin that became increasingly inflamed – his wish had dire consequences. Within seconds the crowd where squirming and flailing like rats in a sewer pipe; swirled along the current and then dropped, left choking on wet concrete.
From his position he was left completely dry and immediately loped down the stairs towards the crowd, much against his better judgement. His curiosity was cut a little short as a man with a roaring voice scramed straight into his ear as he passed; leaving him wincing with an aching tinnitus and one man down as the first hamster fainted from the stress.

Jamie watched the birds, skirting over the heads of the crowds. He watched them circle, lifting walls of water in their wake. He stood remarkably still and calm, only moved slightly by the undertow of panicked parade-goers, dropping like a stone as water filled the basin that Main Street had become.
The water pulled him back a bit as it receded, left him on his hands and knees, airways stinging as he hacked up seawater. His hair and clothes clung to him, soaked and dripping onto the sidewalk, already wet.
Jamie raised his head slowly. The ground beneath him seemed to rumble with laughter, and the water chilled him to the bone, made his gaze sober as he wiped water from his eyes, meeting the monster's gaze.
Like in a dream.

The laughter that permeated the suddenly quiet street stopped suddenly, replaced for the moment by the blunette’s screaming. Glowing red eyes turned on him in that moment. While this creature bore semblance to a human in the shape of its body, there was something not quite right about it. And it wasn’t just the eyes. The teeth glinting in the faint light when its mouth opened were more like those of a shark’s than humans. And the skin was pale and almost seemed scaly. There were two heads.
As time passed with its feet on dry land, it began to change subtly until it seemed more and more human-like. Flippers became hands and feet while the scaled skin turned soft. But whatever the creature was, it wasn’t human. Not anymore. “Shut up.” Water surged up again in twisting columns. A motion of its hand sent it winding through the street like a serpent. The watery mass even looked like a snake slithering through the air towards the blunette.
The rolls for this round are as followed: Petunia (10), Star (3), Valentin (4), Jamie (9), Miles (7), Dominick (8). The higher the number, the better off you are. The lower, the worse. Please keep these in mind when posting.
Star is no longer in the event. Habbue's(6) taking her spot in the event.
