| dollar signs and crimson hair | One thing could definitely be said about Axel Jones, he was lazy. With Axel it was all about getting something for nothing, it was nice for a change. Honestly, for the redhead, leaving home and school the moment he could had been the best thing that had happened to him. So what if he no longer had a stable relationship with his parents and hadn't seen them for so many months, he didn't care. If anything they should be calling up to apologize, to beg for his forgiveness after what they did.
However because of his new found status as a lazy scrounger, Axel didn't really have much money to do anything anymore, just the simple pleasures like the television. So when Dex offered to take him out to lunch, who was he to refuse, besides he had a bone to pick with her. Nothing serious, it had just been bugging him for a while ...
"Dex!" he shouted up, waving an arm at his older sister, pointing at the free space across from him. He figured he should probably ask her how she was holding up, knowing the whole partner thing had hit her pretty hard, however he was scared to intrude on the matter. He didn't want to bring it up if it was just going to upset her, he didn't want to do that. "How are you? Still posting university brochures through the mailbox I see. I told you, there's no point, I'm not going!"

She knew there was something Axel wanted to talk to her about, as quickly as he had said yes to going out for lunch, just the two of them. It was a shock, really. Normally, Axel would try and get Lacie to come, or attempt to have someone else go, least she start talking about school. She was gently nudging him, hoping he'd break down even the smallest bit. It was hard to see her younger brother, so smart and eager, to be sitting around doing nothing. She let out a sigh as she shoved her wallet into her back pocket, secured her gun to her holster, then slid out of the car. The cafe was small, one of the few that actually reminded her of her father's cooking. It was where she had gotten most of her recipes from, anyways. But there was something about her father's cooking that she could never do. Her hands shoved in her pockets, she knew she only had a small amount of time before she needed to head back to the office. Sure, it was a weekend. But she'd been gone for almost three months, and there was work she needed to catch up on. As soon as she entered the cafe, she spotted her little brother's mop of reddish-pink hair. Sometimes, she really wondered how they ended up with the same parents, considering how different in looks they were. She moved over to the seat, smiling at her normal waiter. To say she didn't come here often would be a lie. Every time she came down main street, she'd stop in, have a chat. She normally got her bill cut in half when she came in as well. Taking her seat, the raven-haired woman smiled across at her troublesome brother. "No need to be so loud, Axel. I saw you as soon as I walked in" Dex said as she shook her head. It had been way too long since she had seen her brother, since before she took her holiday. "I haven't put any brochures through your mailslot in awhile, little brother. It might be Lacie trying to get you into school." She said, grinning. "Speaking of, I heard you guys moved into an apartment, with all guys… I hope Lacie is being safe. And that you're watching out for her" Desideria said, eyes narrowing down. tag: @axel ▪ yayay sibling bonding time

| dollar signs and crimson hair | "Well I didn't know that did I?" he replied with a resigned 'hmph'. He didn't particularly like coming out to lunch with Dex the majority of the time, only really when Lacie was there too. That way he could just slink into the background of the conversation and they could just go on about whatever they liked to go on about. However he needed someone to pay for lunch and today that person was going to be Dex.
"Oh really?" Axel replied, raising an eyebrow in surprise. Now that was a shock, after all when they saw each other it seemed to be the only thing she was currently devoting her life too; trying to get him to go back to school. He wasn't happy about it in the slightest, but now the revelation that his twin was in on it too? Oh well this was just great. "I'll let miss innocent know to drop the act then."
"Eh, they're all harmless. I'm pretty sure she's learnt a lot of bad language from Reno though." he shrugged after that. She didn't have to come with him, in fact he probably would have preferred it if she had stayed at home and got her degree and became a teacher. Then he wouldn't have to feel so damn guilty about the whole thing all the time.

A sigh escaped her lips. She was actually more tired than usual, though she couldn't really tell her brother that. He would throw a fit if he knew she was undercover once more. This cafe was somewhere she knew none of the Martinelli family would attend. It was much too perky. Desi shook her head slightly as she turned her attention towards her brother once more. "She just wants what's best for you, just like I do, Axel. We worry about you" She commented. A normal thing she said every time they went out. It was a shame Lacie couldn't make it either.
"Bad language? Axel, you really think she learned that from your friend? Hon, fortunately, you've never seen her and I together. She's learned most of that from me" The raven-haired older sibling said with a laugh. "Is she still going to school? If not, I can get her in. There's an opening at the university i'm currently working undercover at" She commented. She wouldn't go any farther than telling him about the school. Of course, knowing Axel, he wouldn't push it any further.

| dollar signs and crimson hair | "And what's best for me is not to go back there," the redhead firmly stated, crossing his arms over. No, he wasn't cut out for school, that was obvious to anyone who even gave a shit about his mental stability.
He'd thought about it though. He may have given the broshure a glance. It would be different without all that pressure; every time he'd thought about it though he'd managed to talk himself out of it. Just wasn't meant to be.
"You haven't heard the guy, he's like rage compacted into a human being half of the time," Axel muttered. Reno's language really was foul even at the best of times.
"... No," he replied after a moment, crossing his arms over. "You can try it- undercover?" he exclaimed before clamping a hand over his mouth, leaning over the table. "Are you fucking crazy Dex? Like seriously, I thought you'd given that up."

Desideria blinked slowly at her brother's comments. Of course, she had told her parents and the twins she'd given up undercover work. But, really, she couldn't. In short, she wanted revenge for her partner's death, even if it meant her own life being taken. She'd tried to keep it a secret, but really, there was no secrets between the Jones kids. It was how they had gotten away with so much stuff as kids, with Desi taking the blame most of the time. She let out a slow breath, trying to find the best way to explain this to her brother.
"I pretty much raised you and Laice, which means yes I am crazy" The raven-haired woman said. She shrugged her shoulders as she glanced around the restaurant. "It pays the best in the department. Plus, it's not like I can just drop my cover, with how deep I was under" She continued. It was only half the truth. It wasn't the highest paying job, but she had been deeply under cover that she could have gotten herself killed if she pulled out too quickly.
Desi sighed softly, twirling the butter knife around in her fingers absentmindedly. "I don't expect you to understand my reasoning. You weren't even suppose to know, but if it helps Lacie, then I'm willing to let you guys know what's going on." She explained, glancing up to meet her brother's eyes. @axel

| dollar signs and crimson hair | He couldn't believe she was doing this, the other guy was dead! The guy she was working with died, she wouldn't forget that because she was cut up about that for months, why was she doing this? He was dead, she could be next, wasn't that enough for her? "I can't believe you, I honestly don't have anything to say to you," he snarled back, crossing his arms over whilst shooting her a glare. "I don't give a fuck, you can't do that. Who's funeral are you going to be at next? Your own?"
"What? So she can get mixed up in all this undercover bullshit? No way." he replied. Was she even thinking straight. If they found her out or noticed them talking her cover would be blown and something could happen to Lacie. Dex was a cop, she could hold her own, but Lacie? "I want her to go to uni too but that's going to happen over my dead fucking body."

Desideria shook her head at her little brother. Of course he would overreact. Lacie would have no association to her while at the university, but she would be able to pull strings on the matter. "You think I would allow Lacie to get hurt? I know what I'm doing, and I know how to cover my tracks and keep her safe. I've kept myself safe long enough within the past few years" The whole former partner thing withstanding, Desi had prepared herself well, and knew how to weasel her way out of situations. Leaning back in her chair, she looked more like a mother than an older sister, scolding her son rather than trying to convince her brother to allow their sister to attend school, like her dreams wanted.
"I don't expect you to understand. You're still a kid at heart, Axel. But I want you to understand that I'm being careful, and the next funeral I go to will be the bastard that killed my partner." The raven-haired woman said, her eyes narrowing down as she turned her eyes on her brother once more. A breath escaped her after a moment as she reached over, grabbing his head and giving it a squeeze. "I'm being careful, I promise Axel. I'm not going anywhere any time soon. I still have my pesky brother to take care of" She commented, attempting to give a convincing smile.

| dollar signs and crimson hair | Would she allow Lacie to get hurt, probably not, but Lacie was the world to him. She was the other side of the coin that they both shared and there was no way he was even putting her in the slightest risk of danger. "Yeah well you know what? I don't care. I don't give a fuck Dex. You've kept yourself safe not her; you can't guarantee me that though can you?"
Sinking down in his chair, Axel frowned at the stupid lecture he was getting. He didn't care. If she wanted to talk Universities with someone then she could talk to Lacie directly about it, he didn't give a shit. "You better be okay. Because I sw-"
Cutting himself off to try and swat the woman away when she grabbed his head, attempting to scowl at the action though he couldn't help but smile, the redhead muttered "You best be. I wouldn't want to lose an annoying sister now would I?"

"I can promise you that Lacie won't be harmed at all. She won't even come close to me. She doesn't have to know i'm sponsoring her, she won't know the name I'm going by." Desideria explained. She normally got herself in a position where no one would recognize her, and her sister wouldn't come near the particular subject Dex was teaching. She could only hope that Axel would see her sides of things, this was Lacie's dream. And she knew they both wanted their sister's dream to come true.
In truth, Desideria wasn't okay. She was pretty far from okay. But, she needed to put on the front for her little brother. She was the stronger, more confident older sister that needed to show them that something that drastic wouldn't change her, but it did, and not for the better. She was now even more determined to find out why they killed her partner.
"Who would nag you as much as I do if I wasn't around?" Dex asked her brother, brow raised slightly as she squeezed her brother's hand. She loved her siblings dearly, and didn't want them to worry too much. It wasn't their job to worry, they were still nothing more than kids.

| dollar signs and crimson hair | She couldn't guarantee that though! What if something happened, what if they found out about the fake name? It'd be easy for these people to track though it, then they'd find out about who she was and he really didn't want people showing up to the coffee shop armed, loaded and ready to kill him. He enjoyed living thanks.
"... fine. Do whatever." Axel muttered with a scowl. Obviously his opinion didn't matter in all of this, he was just left to be ignored wasn't he?
Pausing, the redhead's scowl faded a little bit, his lips upturning as brushed a hand through his hair. "Nobody, life might actually be quiet a little bit," he joked. Well that and Lacie, everyone just nagged him all the time.

She wished that her brother could trust her. She could keep Lacie safe, between her and Juls, there wasn't anything that could get through her. She would never allow harm to go to her sister, but it seemed that Axel was against the idea. Maybe she could propose the idea to his twin privately, maybe then she'd go for it, and she could be close to her sister. "Why are you being such a grump, Axel?" She questioned the red-head, eyes narrowed down.
She scoffed at his comment, shaking her head. Sure, it'd be quieter. Of course, she'd thought of faking her own death and giving her siblings a piece of mind that they didn't need to worry about their sister, but there was no way Desideria would be able to stay away from her siblings for too long. "You'd miss it eventually" The detective commented, chuckling softly.
