weep little lion man, you're not as strong as you were at the start
"Channing, you've got a hour till you're wanted in the ring. Are you sure you don't want to train?" Her manager asked. Was he stupid? If she sat there punching a bag till she'd go into the ring tired. She stared at him, her eyes narrowed. "Who steps in the cage?" She asked. "Well, you do but-" She cut him off. "And who throws the punches?"
"You do but seriously Channing-"
"Then let me do my fucking job dude. I know what I'm doing. Call me fifteen minutes before we start alright? I'll be down the road." He stared daggers at her. "Don't worry, I won't start a fight and I won't get drunk, alright?" Her manager didn't look convinced, but she didn't care. She waved at him and proceeded to walk out of the rather unimpressive building that held the ring. She walked around for awhile until she found herself right outside a bar, debating if she'd do exactly what she promised not to. A good drink could calm her nerves. While she didn't look it, Channing was actually nervous about this fight. It'll be the first one she'd be in all year, and hopefully those hours she spent training wouldn't be put to waste. She did love it though, especially the sudden surge of pure adrenaline that coursed through her veins. "Should I?" She asked really no one in particular, she weighed her options. She could get a drink, warm her throat, and deal with her manager yelling about how her breath smelled like alcohol or not get a drink. When she put it like that, she should get a drink. @erik

[attr="class","fullbody"] [attr="class","iconbody"] CHANNING MARIE - you need to kick my ass to post if i ever forget about this again i swear [attr="class","halfbody"]Getting a drink or two was only supposed to be a relaxation tactic, because Creation-knows that Erik didn't get enough of that anymore. What with him splitting himself between drug dealing ( which was a bottomless pit of a job, never pick it up ) and running the hotel corporation that he was stuck with, it really was just meant to wind him down. One drink eventually turned into two, then four, eight - and then after that the numbers would start to mesh together. Alcoholism ran in the family anyway, he knew what he was getting himself into.
But, he didn't inherit the angry drunk trait that seemed to run in the family. Instead, Erik was a rather happy drunk, smiles and laughter all around and plenty to share. It pushed away the impending darkness that liked to show up unannounced, and Erik was thankful for that much. It was more than he could say about everything else that tried warding it away.
Outside of the bar, though, was a familiar face. A face that made him stop in his tracks, forget everything that he was planning for the day and just look.
"Channing?"

Fuck. Of all the faces she wanted to see, his was not one of them. It wasn't like she didn't love her brother, she did. She just felt almost jealous of him. Here he was, heir to some millionaire fortune, while Channing sat comfortably for the first time in her entire life. "What?" She looked him square in the face. Her eyes narrowed, but only for a minute. "What do you want?" She had contemplated their relationship when she was much younger. She swore if she ever found him, she'd make them some sort of family, but plans don't always work out. They were as broken as she was. Though she never cursed him out, ever, she couldn't find herself able to ever. "I'm going to get a drink," now she definitely needed one. "You can join me, if you want. I really can't stop you." She had an idea that he was going to follow her back into the bar anyway. He was weird like that. She didn't look at him long though, it hurt her deep in the chest. Emotions sucked. She walked to the door and held it open. "After you." @erik - don't worry, i'll get my ass kicking shoes.

[attr="class","fullbody"] [attr="class","halfbody"]She didn't sound too happy to see him, but Erik didn't blame her at all. He wasn't too thrilled to see himself either on most occasions, but he usually kept that to himself. "To see my little sister, of course." His little sister with the job that he didn't really say he was proud of and as much of a drinking problem that he had. His little sister that he adored in every way and if he weren't busy for the most part with the damned hotel, he'd be trying his hardest to make up the lost years to her. As if they were his fault.
A drink, yes, a drink would be wonderful. A drink was what he needed. "I'd love to, Chan." She held the door open, and he headed in, taking the nearest seat at the bar. "So what's been going on? Have a fight tonight?" Simple conversation, something he's typically good at when he's not trying to keep some sort of venom out of choice words. She should make an effort to get along with her brother, she really should, but she went through so much. He was just, just so lucky. She had to work from the bottom to get somewhere in the middle, and he was graced with being on top. It just wasn't fair, and Channing knew life wasn't fair, but it still didn't stop her from being resentful. He did seem to make an effort, but things were too late, they were two different people from two different worlds. She took a seat next to him. "Yeah," she ordered a beer.. "First one of the season, the girl is bigger than me too." Height wise anyway, Channing had about as much muscle as she could accumulate without looking freakish or going on steroids. "I'd be lying if I said I'd be coming out without a black eye, and maybe some blood. I thought a drink would calm my nerves, I am excited though to get back in there."
"Um, how's the hotels?" Or whatever he had,. @erik - kick my ass plsu.

| he feels like he should be angry. not at Channing - as if that were an option - but at how the girl next to him isn't much more than a stranger, really. it's not anyone's fault, he continously tells himself, but he can't help but want to point the blame at someone. "you'll have no problem beating her." shooting Channing a grin, he takes a sip of the bourbon that was placed down.
when she asks about the hotels, Erik chews on his lip for a moment. "boring, as always." he had a feeling that it was a more tender subject for her - what with how he was certain that fighting was more than a hobby for her. "what's it like? being in the ring?" genuine curosity sparking, Erik rests his chin on his palm as he looks up to Channing.
CHANNING MARIE - i'm sorry it's short omg- i'm slowly getting back into the groove of things. next will be longer. |

She knows its someone's fault that she isn't close to her brother, that she harbors resentment for how good he's had it in life. Only one face, and one name comes to mind, her oh-so-fucking-caring big sister.. She was tempted to get some whiskey too, but she wanted to calm her nerves, not have her reflexes impaired. She probably wasn't going to finish the bottle anyway. When they placed down her bottle, she asked for a glass. She'd only drink about half of this, she promised she wouldn't drink anymore. She grinned at Erik's confidence. "I might, but I'm not going in there cocky." If she underestimated her opponent, she was a goner. If she overestimated her, there was no harm, no foul. "That's a shame, you make so much money at it."
She got that question more than she ever really liked, what was it like to be in a cage, fighting another person, almost wild and free? The answer was simple. "Amazing. Everything's a rush, punches go fast, kicks to the gut, and you don't feel anything until afterwards." Before this, she fought in the underground pits, and while the rush was better, the pay was bad. "If this fight goes well I'm thinking of throwing myself against some guys, see how that goes." Lightweight men. @erik - it's alright i don't mind! uwu

| Nodding thoughtfully, Erik could see the logic in what she said. No use being cocky and then getting beaten. For some reason, he felt a smile creep to his face, but instead chose to drown it in whatever drink that was placed in front of him. "Doesn't make it fun." To be honest, he would have rather picked being out in a ring fighting over sitting around a table with people much older than him talking about things that he just didn't care about. It was fortunate that he had a friend of the family practically running the business while he sat back and learned. At least, everyone hoped he was learning.
He wasn't, really.
"I wouldn't mind being in a fight or two." At least, if he could fight. The most he'd gotten the hand of throughout his years of being with so-called criminals was dodging. Punches, mainly, he had found that the actual act of punching was a lot harder than it really looked. He held a certain respect for Channing there.
At the thought of her being pitted up against men, he found the frown returning to his face. People in fights like what she did usually got hurt, too, right? "Be careful." It came out like more a protective brother than he meant, and he cleared his throat as if dismissing it. "I mean- Those fights are usually kind of dangerous, right?" But that was the rush in it all - living on the edge almost. It was what he loved most.
CHANNING MARIE also apologies for the tense switch |

"I love my job, but I've read the studies. This isn't a permanent thing I can do for the rest of my life. You have something permanent, and if you waste that I don't think I could ever forgive you, Erik." She was speaking from the heart, and it wasn't often that she had a heart to heart talk with Erik of all people. She loved the rush of her job - hell, she considered it her career - but she knew her days in the box were numbered. She could make it to thirty, maybe thirty-five, if she didn't break anything. The rest of her life, she could be a coach maybe, train newbies, and maybe become an agent.
"I'll fight you." She volunteered, though she'd probably end up putting him in the hospital if she actually tried. Channing tended to let loose during fights, let the anger and adrenaline fuel her, and more than once she was pulled off her opponent long after they had fallen to the ground and were out cold.
"It's dangerous going out my front door every morning. I can tell you Erik, I was in more danger in the states going on the streets then I'll probably ever be in the streets." Part of her really wanted to hate him for not being there, for not being the protective brother that she often dreamed about when she was little. He couldn't just start to act like that now, could he? @erik - sorry it took so long
