He was up early, as per usual. The bed in his new tenement was hard and creaked in places, not to mention small; sometimes, on those particularly off days, Vernell sometimes woke up with his face pressed against the carpet. Some maintenance guy was supposed to come and fix the malfunctioning heating system, too, so the place he currently called 'home' could be liveable, instead of a wannabe ice box - not suitable for living, at least, not by his standards, they weren't.
He usually wasn't out this early, but there were papers to be graded, and video projects - ones his students had recently just submitted - to be reviewed. Sleeping on his bed proved to be fruitless, border-lining impossible, and he found that coffee did the trick just as well, so he made it a point to visit the cafe as often - and early - as he could. It was becoming an almost daily thing, and he usually only stayed the few minutes it took for them to process his order. But today, he lingered a bit longer, because the script he was grading had grabbed his attention in the middle of it, and he was determined to read it until the end. Scribbled notes, paused, smiled a bit at the crude humor and exaggerated characterization because damn, some of his students were actually really good at this, and he had no idea. | i hope this is okay! @noemi |

Of course, Noémi ordered her coffe black and added nothing. She liked the bitterness to sit on her tongue and add to her overall demeanor - she knew that everyone was a work in progress, and she took great pains to improve herself.
She had it in hand, was turning to leave, when she saw someone too familiar. Normally, if Nae had ever come across him, she would've ignored him - but the two of them? Back to fucking back? Uncharacteristically, she reacted without thinking. She grabbed the blonde's shoulder. "Can I fucking help you?" And, as it always was when she wasn't thinking, her accent was obvious and heavy. @vern
