Jobe had come to appreciate his time off duty like a fine wine. What with being understaffed at work and the increasing crime rate, days off and even those small breaks were spent wisely. He savored it almost right until it was time to put the suit back on. Even so, one couldn’t say that he hated his job. Far from it. Dedication to keeping the peace came naturally, and being practically raised in the force only nurtured that mindset. Taking a simple walk proved detaching himself from work difficult, as the man found himself suddenly on the route he usually took on patrol. This part of town was more than a little shady, part of the outskirts of a slums he came to despise. He stopped to lean at a brick wall, pulling out a cigarette to light it before taking a drag. He might as well take a break here before heading back the way he came, where street corner prostitutes weren’t welcomed and old habits didn’t die hard. //haha i actually have no idea what this is im sorry MARINA LOCH

Marina Valentina was as flamboyant as her name suggested.
She'd wave her hands around like a Queen to her subjects, cut her nails through their necks if they'd misbehave. Visuals were everything in her line of work, and her youth a testament to her successes to preserving it. Then again, she hadn't always looked this great. There was a period of time when she was young and foolish when she wore her long hair straight and had neatly cut nails and hands that weren't so sacred. As much as she hated thinking about her dastardly youth, she didn't look back with anger. In every girl's life there needed to be the transformation from the ugly duckling to the beautiful swan, so her past was accepted just as a rite of passage.
Smoothing out the tiny crease on the edge of her dress for a moment, she turned the street corner and smiled, noting a very, very familiar face. Oh, how devilishly handsome was he. Each step she made became a clear tap, tap, tap on the floor. This place was very near her property, and no one'd think to attack the lovely brothel owner who did such fantastic business in the area, did they?
Marina stepped slowly until she was right in front of him. She could've inhaled his smoke too, but that would ruin her breath.
"Boy, aren't you a fine piece of... meat?" She spoke seductively, blood red lips grinning while her eyes narrowed at him. Her hands now joined at her back, she crossed her fingers.

A string of sharp sounds that could only be made by tall heels introduced a stranger. Even if he recognized her face, the way of her walk down to the hair on her head was all foreign. He didn’t know this woman. Her younger self was a different story. Jobe wasn't surprised when she smiled, approached him in such a way that reminded him of a snake. It stirred something in the pit of his stomach, though he didn’t care to analyze too deeply. When it came down to it, the source was right here. Besides, had their roles been reversed, he would have approached her all the same. He inspected her for a few moments, blowing smoke out and away from the general direction of her face. ”Flattery won’t get you anywhere.” It was a flat, even statement. By this time in his life, he had a well-practiced poker face. If it was up to him, a police officer without one was just not a proper police officer. He had to admit that she looked good for her age; one of the lucky few that aged well. Or it was simply an illusion made by makeup, but he heavily doubted the latter. Staying young-looking and pretty must be part of the job description. It certainly must have had its’ perks. Still, the man refused to let it cloud his judgement. MARINA LOCH

Marina hated the disappointment that was swelling in her chest, so she buried it away without so much of a flutter of eyelashes.
She licked the side of her lip, thinking she was tasting the bittersweetness of a foolish young girl rather than the gritty taste of thick red lipstick. Her smile didn't waver, because she spent years training it. A woman had to remain mysterious to govern the room of men, yes? Of course. Even this hollow shell of a man, with that pale skin she so adored and that silvery white hair. Her own fingers had ran through it many times before, but alas, it was a story for the children to gasp at.
"I find you'd be quite... mistaken, good sir." Her gaze never quite left him, as if she was drinking up on his presence. "It gets me everywhere. Whether or not you see it, is unmistakably, your problem." It wasn't as if a guy like him, no doubt padlocked to his desk, would understand. It was one of the principles of her business.
Noting his gaze, she smiled. Her hand reached to his heart, then trailed upwards to the knot of his tie, tugging down suddenly as if to invite herself closer.

It was almost laughable how Jobe found his eyes lingering on her lips a beat too long, before roughly shoving down the adolescent boy that was clawing his way up his abdomen. Now was not a time where he would reminisce of days spent wasted. He couldn’t let a wall he’d spent years building up be broken down after a flutter of eyelashes. "I was referring to myself." Though he had no doubt that it certainly had gotten her places, in her profession. But there was no need to admit it; he wasn’t the only one here that knew that well enough. "And I fail to see why it’s a problem."He found her hand on his chest, catching him off guard. It took the man a moment to try and figure whether he’d force away her arm or simply ask, but that moment was one spent still, wasted as she tugged down on his tie. His head jerked forward, brought that much closer to her face. The movement caused him to drop his cigarette, only just seeing the ashes flutter in the corner of his vision. Jobe had to take another moment to regain his composure, though not without searching her ever-present smile. There had to be some chink in the armor, a crack that he could see his way through. Frustration welled up, and with it his hand came up to grip her wrist. A light hold, but firm enough to ensure he meant business. The action cleared his head somewhat. "I advise that you let go." He spoke almost as if to a child, slow and enunciating. This wasn’t how he imagined this confrontation would go, but now that he that he thought about it, it surely wasn’t surprising. MARINA LOCH

He was such a tease... and a bore. Purposely fluttering her eyelashes slowly, her smile rose, ever present, ever haunting. Just a little more and his defenses could've fallen and crumbled. What a shame. It'd be a lie to say she wasn't, once more, disappointed. Marina was rather unhappy about that.
Her nose kissed his neck, as she laughed a little, lips brushing past lightly, making a stain on his collar. Words were so funny, especially his. Her words on other people were supposed to be weighted, not the other way around. Marina cared little for anyone else's words.
"That's... such a shame." Her voice was thick, a slur in his ear, her wrist still in his hold. How romantic. If she was twenty years younger, she'd have swooned, surely.
But for a token of appreciation, that much would've been fine. She quickly leant in so the remaining lipstick wouldn't go wasted, kissing him as if trying to take a bite out of him, and ending it just before he could do any funny business. Leaving them with a smile, she wondered what time it was.
Sadly, his grip was far too soft. Oh dear. He had to try harder than that.
With an unexpected yank, she pulled away from his hold, and with that, his tie.
Marina walked backwards with it in her hand. "Call it a souvenir, good sir, and I'll teach you more next time."

Jobe tensed up, still as he felt the touch on his neck. Even now he couldn’t bring himself to pull away, or even take a few steps back. He had a feeling that she wouldn’t allow him to, anyways. Which only brought up another argument; why would he give her the chance to be in control? He decided to ignore that train of thought, right then. But not all unpleasant things could be ignored, unless one was of the foolishly naive. The best he could do was be still as her red lips came ever closer, once again not quite sure what action to take. And as she kissed him, just the right level of fleeting, he hated how she so suddenly had that effect on him. It wasn’t like him, not at all. A sigh of relief almost surfaced as she stepped away, tie in her hand while it seemed to taunt him. Undoubtedly there would be a next time, he couldn’t deny that. No matter the nature of this encounter, he still had a score to settle. A grim smile settled on his lips; he nodded. ”I’m almost looking forward to it.”At that moment, he really needed another cigarette. MARINA LOCH
