it was supposed to be a sexy career. dames with legs for days. dark secrets. lies. bloodshed. crime lords. conspiracies and murders. but the truth, as alison strauss learned, was that the life of a private investigator was not like it was in the movies. instead, it primarily consisted of her current activity of sitting in her car with a camera, ready to take some scandalous pictures of the activities inside a seedy motel room across the street. in reality, a private investigator was little more than a professional stalker, following around her targets and documenting their shames. the current lying bastard seemed to have a penchant for dominating schoolgirls, as evidenced by the plaid-skirted busty girl carrying a bag of whips walking into his room. raising her camera, the shutter clicked a few times as the moment was forever captured by the lens. she knew when the sun rose, she would be breaking the heart of a wife who was probably still clinging on to the hope of fidelity. she set down the camera, finding it a bit unnessary to take photographs of the sihouettes of the man on his knees, his head bowed down in front of his mistress. it seemed the man was not only a liar, but the bitch as well. her eyes drifted to a lone figure walking on the sidewalk. the clock read 3AM and it was unusual for someone to be walking around this late. though it was unlikely they had anything to do with her current assignment, her curiousity was nonetheless piqued by the appearance of another. just what were they doing on the wrong side of town this late at night? 280 OPEN A FIRST POST IDEK LAIKA OF GS!

------ If you told Emil six months ago that his job would require him to walk the streets during the latest hours of the night, he probably would have laughed in your face. He ran his hands through his hair trying to wash the image of the last hour of his life out of his head. At least he had a wad of crash to pay for some things he wanted. He took a last look at at the shitty motel - something that he would have never thought twice about in his past life. As if in a final act of rebellion, he flipped the building off - as if it would make his situation any more bearable.
"Fucking bullshit, I told him no hair pulling." He spoke to himself - assuming that no one was really around watching him. "Should have fined him for that, stupid little asshole."

her blue eyes fell upon a peculiar sight, a young man, certainly in his teenage years, if not just out of them, walked down the street in a huff. it did not take long for the former policewoman to peg him as a rentboy, his generally annoyed and angry attitude typical of young men of the night. her lips turned downward into a frown as she turned away from the figure, attempting not to draw his attention towards her. the young ones always bothered alison. no doubt if things had played out differently she could have easily been in his place. with a sigh, she placed her hand on the key currently in her ignition. she had gotten what she came here for. perhaps she could even get a few hours of sleep before she had to open up shop. however sad the kid's story was, it was none of her concern. she paused before slamming her hand down on the steering wheel. "crap!" she muttered to herself, annoyed that she simply could not leave the man out here by his lonesome, at least without offering a helping hand. running her hand through her blonde hair, she took in a deep breath before turning the car's headlights on and off, signaling to the boy that she wanted his attention. a few months ago, she was one of the town's finest. now, she was picking up hookers on the wrong side of town. oh, if her parents could see her now. ------ Great. He thought to himself. He took the hint, not that he was particularly excited to go through with this. He had already had a client for the night - but a little bit in the back of his head irked him to go through with it. That little bit in the back of his head won the battle. By now, going into stranger's cars was the norm.
He ran a hand through his hair, he could feel the sides growing back. He needed to get it shaved off. He could always do it at home he reminded himself, there was no need to go to a parlor.
It was too dark for him to really make out what kind of car it was or even the actual color, as he made his way to it. God, could he even go through with it for the second time in the night?
Money, money, money, he needed the money he kept reminding himself. He leaned up against the passenger's side. "What do you want? My time is money, mam." At least this one was a woman, right?

from the corner of her eye, alison watched as the man begrudgingly made his way towards her car, his hesitation making it a bit clear that he was not in this line of work out of passion. she rolled down the passenger's side window as he approached, taking in his boyish features and half-shaven head. she turned to face him as he stood outside the door and somewhat gruffly asked what she desired. "food. there's a 24-hour diner down the street right?" she offered, unlocking the door so the man could enter, "my treat?" she said with a smile. she knew he would only run off if she started lecturing him, but at least she could get some more face time if she played it cool. carefully, she used her foot to slide her telescopic lens camera beneath her seat, hoping the boy would not notice her spying equipment. it was not as if she was following him, but in his perspective, things could start looking weird. well, weirder than they already were. in truth, she had no idea what she was doing, attempting to save some boy from being a man of the night. still, something urged her onwards. it was worth a shot. ------ Was she asking him out to dinner? Well this was a new one for sure. No stranger had ever taken him out to dinner before. And it was surely unexpected. Emil was a bit taken back, and it took him a few moments to think of an answer. It just seemed so surreal to him. "Uh, sure, I guess." It couldn't really hurt, she seemed less dangerous then some of the strangers that he had willingly jumped in a car with. What was the worst that could happen? Death? He'd risk his life for a free meal at this point anytime.
He got in the car, his eyes locked on her as if he was going to open his mouth and say something - anything, but he didn't. Not for a good few moments. "So, you takin' me to the movies too?
Yeah, this was going to be a date, at least in Emil's mind.
