| emilia leaned against the railing of her balcony, staring out into the night sky. the small lights that lit up the mansions across the gated communities did not damper the glittering expanse of stars that spread out above her, and she smiled softly as she picked out various constellations that stood out against the dark blue night.
a sigh escaped her lips as her thoughts drifted to another topic - a "friend" she had made lately, although she wasn't exactly sure if their relationship was that of friendship. roy, the new part-timer that joined the flower shop where she worked, seemed to plague her mind day and night. she never did figure out if he was the one who stole her necklace the other night, although she still suspected that he was. "wait," emilia muttered, standing up straight. when she had leaned down to rest her head on her arms, she wasn't exactly sure. "why am i thinking about him? stupid." quietly berating herself, she turned to her balcony doors, about to return to the safety of her room.

Was this all right?
Aden hesitated, hanging over the edge of a certain somebody’s roof, feet dangling over the door leading to the balcony. He could have been chuckling to himself if he didn’t have to keep under the veil of darkness that the night brought him.
She had stood there for quite a while, staring up at the stars. He could only make out the back of her head. Occasionally, her shoulders would slump, or her posture would stiffen before relaxing again. The subtle changes in her disposition held Aden’s unhealthy interest.
He was surprised at himself as well. Spying on a girl in the middle of the night—anybody else would call him a stalker, if they didn’t already know about his thieving ways. Then he’d be labeled as both a thief and a pervert.
He told himself over and over again that he was just here to snoop around her room once she went back to sleep, and that he was just keeping watch, but there was something wrong with that explanation, too. Still, it was the best he could come up with. Or rather, convince himself with. There was a certain aspect of her that pulled Aden to the girl. She was just so . . . interesting.
The girl straightened, and Aden froze. She hadn’t noticed him as she began to walk back to the doors leading inside, escaping the warm summer breeze for the comfort of a bed. She mumbled to herself, and, against all logical judgment and rationality, he spoke.
“Who’s the lucky lad?” he said, hanging upside down. His face was the only thing separating her and the cool glass of the balcony door. KITTY OF GS

| "who's the lucky lad?"
emilia let out a earsplitting screech, which, to her credit, was rightfully made. the subject of her thoughts was hanging from her roof, his face only a few inches from hers - if she had made another step forward, they definitely would've touched lips.
the thought of a kiss made emilia's face flare up, and she quickly took a step back, her hands cupping her cheeks in an attempt to cool them down. "w-w-what are you doing here?" she asked, abashed. she privately thought how glad she was that her door was closed, although it was dashed when a window below her balcony opened and her father's voice called out, "emilia? are you all right?" panicking, the girl called out, "perfectly fine, father! j-just thought i saw a rat." her father replied his affirmation and she let out a breath when the window closed.
turning on the man hanging from her roof, emilia pressed her lips together and tried to look annoyed (which was difficult, seeing as she was pleased that he was here). "you're going to fall," she commented, reaching out to tug on his black locks.

The thief hung still as Emilia’s shrieked, cutting through the eerie silence of the night. Leaves rustled somewhere below them, and the breeze carried the scream away until it was but a distant echo.
He froze when the father spoke up to his daughter, but let out a quiet sigh of relief when the girl thought up an excuse on the fly. However, he only relaxed when his ears detected the soft click of the windows closing shut.
Aden jumped down from the edge of the roof, as nimble as a panther, and a cheeky grin spread across his face.
“That was great,” he said, dusting himself off in a theatric display. He sauntered over to the girl, light-hearted teasing coalescing with shameless seduction and peppered onto his tone as he shoved a hand into the warmth of his pocket. “But you didn’t answer my question.”
He hummed, looking her in the eye with an arched brow, the moon lighting up the features of his face. “I’m terribly curious as to the identity of the man plaguing this pretty young lady’s thoughts.” KITTY OF GS

| "Yes, really great if someone saw you hanging from my roof," Emilia muttered, looking anywhere but at Roy's face. She avoided his gaze, finding the balcony floor to be suddenly very interesting. Her cheeks reddened and she shook her head rapidly, clasping her hands behind her back - looking akin to a child caught doing something naughty. "I'm not thinking about anyone," she lied, trying to convince herself as much as him.
The girl rocked onto the balls of her bare feet, finally raising her head to look at Roy once she figured that she could do it without looking as red as a tomato. "And you haven't answered my question," Emilia stated simply, placing her feet back flat on the floor. "What are you doing here, Roy?" A smile accompanied the inquiry.

“Hmm. Really?” he asked, tilting his head. He was trying to meet her elusive gaze, his eyes trained on her bashful visage, wondering when she was going to look up at him. “I’m a tad bit hesitant to believe that.”
Aden shrugged, whirling around on the balls of his feet to walk to the edge of the balcony, hanging over the rails and looking over the shimmering darkness, the smell of autumn and dried leaves making him smile.
“Oh, that’s right,” he said, humming. He turned around and leaned against the railing, arms propped up against the stone. It was cold against his bare arms, as he had only thought to don a black V-neck.
Aden tilted his chin upward, gaze trained on the numerous twinkles of light splattered across the night sky, a black canvas and white, glittering paint. His eyes were thoughtful as he spoke. “Well, there are a few reasons why I’m here.”
He glanced at Emilia. “I think you can guess at least one. Or we can turn this into a guessing game. That would be fun, wouldn't it?” KITTY OF GS
