Target...spotted. Kyra's eyes locked on and narrowed as she finally found the person she'd been looking for for a while now. It was hard work tracking him down, as he was slippery and elusive (at least by her standards, which weren't the highest) but she had finally done it.
In her warped head, she was proud of herself, even though most people would find it insanely creepy that she decided to follow her ex-boyfriend to Nova Athenis, just so she could try and rekindle something. Maybe it was worse that it was mostly for her own personal gain, but if Kyra worried about things like that, she'd be so wrapped up in her thoughts that she'd probably never leave the house.
Really, though, she thought she had a good thing with Salem. It's not like they were a horrible couple, or at least she didn't think so. Maybe his thoughts were different - from an outsider's perspective, they probably were. Kyra Kells was nothing short of crazy, and she wouldn't stop until she got what she wanted.
What she wanted wasn't necessarily Salem, but she wanted the spotlight that was still shining on him. Why did anyone still care about him and not her? She was just as talented if not more talented. He was just an angry rockstar that Hollywood still cared too much about. Nevermind the fact that she was the one who followed him here.
Moving out from her covert hiding place, she briskly approached him from the back, her heels clicking on the concrete sidewalk. He was enjoying his time in peace, sitting outside of a cafe, but the peace wasn't going to last for much longer.
"Salem!" she cried out in mock surprise and happiness. "I never expected to find you here! It's been so long, hasn't it? Wow!"
She hadn't been in any movies at all recently, but her acting chops were still there, at least in her opinion.

Dark sunglasses concealed his face, protected his hangover-ridden head from the sunlight. He had asked for a spot in the shade and a strong black coffee. Nobody seemed to have noticed him, and he liked the solitude. Cigarettes, coffee, the salt of the sea carried in a warm breeze. It was home.
For a minute, he thought he could forget all that weighed on his mind as of late. The bruising had faded, but there was still a nervousness, a twitching in the fingers that clasped his cigarette, a tension in his lips.
The voice was grating but unmistakable, and every other problem rushed back to the front of his mind at the sight of Kyra. He groaned. "What are you doing here?" He hissed, glancing around and gesturing to the seat across from him. He didn't want to make a scene, but that was what Kyra was all about, and playing along with her had worn thin long ago.

Not even sunglasses and a cool demeanor could hide Salem from her. It's not like he was difficult to spot with that insanely long platinum hair; it was practically a beacon to him announcing his presence. But she would've found him eventually, she just knew it.
Ignoring the groan and dread in his voice she happily sat down across from him, grinning. Salem really was attractive, everyone knew it, even if his personality wasn't much to write home about. Then again, neither was hers. But who really was a sweetie pie in Hollywood? It was a cutthroat industry. Kill or be killed.
"I'm happy to see you too, darlin'," she cooed with a smile as she crossed her legs at the ankle, smoothing out her skirt. It was a nice day and she had donned a strappy sundress, her thick green hair cascading over her bare shoulders and pulled back with a thick, jeweled headband.
"But I'm here to see you, of course!" she explained with a smile. "Well, not intentionally. I decided to take a little vacation here. LA was getting a little too crazy, so I needed time to relax. And what do you know, I found you here! What a small world, right?"
While he true intentions were anything but that, she wasn't going to admit it outrightly. Even she knew it was a crazy idea.

There were plenty of things to say about Salem Bauer, but you couldn't call him fake. He didn't bother with fronts, he never pretended to be a good guy, he never pretended to like people. Especially not Kyra. He had a right to be standoffish anyways, she was his ex. The whole thing had been star-studded and explosive, and had ended just as loudly and messily as it had begun.
He leaned back and surveyed Kyra as he took a slow drag. She looked good, as she always did. They had looked fucking great together. "Yeah, work getting busy?" He said flatly. It was almost as much of a jab at himself as it was to her. Admitting he cared enough to keep track of what Kyra had been doing. Or rather, not doing. It wasn't as if he thought of her ceaselessly, only on particular kind of nights that were drunk and lonely.
Salem twisted in his seat slightly to look around. Somehow, this would end up in the tabloids. They were back together, they'd been meeting in secret for months now. With a sigh, he combed a hand through his hair.

The tabloids were exactly what she wanted. She wanted the lies, the fake stories, the sordid tales that the con artists in the newsrooms could think up. It was her lifeblood, and she knew that finding Salem would be a surefire way back into the public eye. Kyra didn't care how she got there, just that she did. Other celebrated celebrities had achieved fame for much worse ways, after all.
"Yeah, sure," she said, flipping her hair over her shoulder. Usually she might be a bit miffed that he didn't know what was going on in her life, but since nothing was going on in her life she didn't care much. It was embarrassing enough that she'd fallen out of graces, she didn't really want him to be aware of it.
Still, for as much as she was using him, she still missed him from time to time. Kyra liked to live her life to the grandiose extent of it, and her relationship with Salem could have definitely been summed up by the word. Still, she always had to remind herself that she was doing this for her; she was the number one person in her mind. Not him or anyone else.
"What about you, what are you doing out here?" she asked sweetly with a smile, curling some of her hair around her finger even though she knew exactly why he was here. Almost everyone did, it was all over the news...or speculation, at least. It was easy enough to figure out, but she'd play dumb for now.

Everything about Kyra that had once been endearing and sexy was infuriating. She was flawless and captivating as ever, but now it made him uneasy, the same way that stardom as a whole did these days.
She was a starlet through and through, drawn to the spotlight like a moth to a flame. He thought of Lance, who had walked away from it, and he wondered where he fell among them. In some ways he'd run from fame, but he still reaped its benefits, the riches that had bought him his penthouse and paid for his food and drinks and smokes.
At the question, his lips twitched into a smile for a moment. An amused, mocking one. "I grew up here." Salem reminded her.
The media probablu had plenty to say of his sudden return home, but Kyra was on the outside now, and he would stick to his guns. He was visiting his home town, simple as that, no matter who believed him.

Kyra nearly rolled her eyes, but it wasn't in a mean way or anything. Well, she'd never say it was, anyways. It was all too easy to play off what she said as a ditzy statement or giggle like it was no big deal. It was simple to play it off like she was simple.
"Well, duh," she said with a breathy little laugh. "Of course I knew you grew up here, doesn't everyone?" Even though she hadn't been the best girlfriend, she at least knew where he was from. It wasn't like it was a well-kept secret, or anything.
"But still, it's not like I'd run away to Lubbock the moment I needed a li'l time to myself." The thought of that was horrifying, actually. Having to go home, be with all the farm animals and smell like manure all the time? No thank you. Nova Athenis was a nice place, of course, but wouldn't he be sick of it if he grew up here?
Maybe it was different since this place was a literal paradise in comparison to her hometown. But still, she didn't believe him for a moment.
"What's the real reason you're here, huh? C'mon, you can tell me, we're friends right?" She smiled sweetly and batted her eyelashes. "It'll be off the record."

He shrugged, looking disinterested - hot chicks were a dime a dozen to him, why was it hard to look away now? His gaze flickered away then found its way back. Kyra wouldn't let herself be ignored anyways, and Salem gave her a flat sort of scrutiny for a few moments. He sipped coffee through gritted teeth.
With a quirked brow, he straightened a little and leaned in, gave her a small smile. "You're always on the record. Don't bullshit me - what are you doing here?" They were close, Salem's voice was low. He was bristling like a territorial beast, he had claim to Nova Athenis, she didn't.

Salem was close to her, his voice was lowered. She felt like they were sharing secrets, and his eyes held an anger she couldn't quite place. Any normal person would back off, but Kyra wasn't that person. That much was obvious. A smile pulled up on her painted lips as she surveyed him with her bright eyes.
"You know me so well, Salem," she purred, voiced lowered as well. "But I believe I asked you why you were here first, and I don't expect some bullshit answer. If you want the truth from me I expect to get the truth from you. Common courtesy, 'n all."
Her advances were unprecedented. Leaning forward she kissed him on the cheek. It was chaste, it was friendly, but she lingered for a moment before pulling away, leaning back in her chair with legs crossed at the knee.
