| She applied her mascara with a deft grace. Capella was the queen of transformations, and it was the power she would keep if she could have nothing else. Being able to slip into the skins of different people every night was an underestimated talent in this world, and all the better for her. People kept their guards down and she pried her way inside. She'd be lying if she said it didn't give her a thrill to pull the wool over all their eyes.
They were standing in a large, marble-floored bathroom putting the final touches on their masks- her and Juniper, as it were. She'd come early in order to waltz into the ballroom fashionably late. That's how she always did it. Punctuality was unattractive to her in that it made you the same as everyone else. The first way to set oneself apart was to be late.
The mansion they were in belonged to a balding little man named Sir Alfonse. Old money. His wife was classless and more than a little bit hooked on plastic surgery. It was a charity gala, they often held them. This time they were raising money for orphans in Madagascar or something trivial like that. "How much botox do you think she's injected since last time?" Capella inquired casually, putting the finishing touches on her lashes. You wouldn't even be able to tell they were fake.

THROW ON YOUR DRESS AND PUT ON YOUR DOLL FACES
| Charity galas were always fun she supposed. The people watching was always more entertaining than the actual event, especially if Capella was there as well, being surrounded by a like minded person for one was always nice. Showing up late also ensured one thing, other than making an eye catching entrance, it was all the pieces were already there. They made the spectacular appearance, nobody could upstage them.
The house was nice, she could probably tell the host that honestly but that was all. Lying was second nature by now anyway, nobody was going to find any fault if she told the host that his wife looked beautiful tonight. People would think she was being polite, cute even, when in reality her thoughts were that she looked anything but beautiful.
A pig in lipstick more like.
Running the wand along her lips, Juniper put the finishing touch on her lip gloss, glancing at Capella when she started talking. Immediately lowering the wand, the idol chuckled before replying "Enough that when she lies on that precious sunbed of her's, her face will probably melt." She was looking a little more orange than the last time she saw them.

| Capella laughed. In the empty room it echoed hard on corners and sounded a bit shrill. She usually had to keep her disparaging remarks to herself when she had a date. Going with Juniper was far more entertaining. She didn't have to worry about falling asleep in her entree over chatter about stocks. She could speak her mind about aging housewives that she routinely stole men from.
She slipped her mascara and lipstick back into the bag and snapped it shut before turning back towards her treasured, and possibly only, friend. "I suppose we'd better not keep them waiting any longer." She said with a lipsticked smirk. She was channeling Jolie with her black dress, slit up to the thigh. Too bad it wasn't Versace. At least it swished comfortingly around her legs. "Someone has to show them what style is, after all."
And so they swept their way through the hall, heels clicking on marble. "Like pigs in dresses." She muttered softly while they passed by a woman going to the washroom.

THROW ON YOUR DRESS AND PUT ON YOUR DOLL FACES
| Being able to act how she wanted was the best part of her trips out with Capella. Every other time was so constraining but here, she could say what she wanted! Nobody could tell her otherwise. She didn't have to force herself to talk to whoever she was with about how much she loved to hang around with these people, how much she appreciated their company. It was sickening.
Dropping her lipstick into her purse, Juniper nodded. It was about time they showed these people something beautiful to look at. "Lead the way," she replied, smoothing out a crinkle that she had found in her designer dress, before following her pink haired friend into the hall.
"I wouldn't even give them that much credit," she replied through a clenched smile, grabbing two champagne flutes off a nearby waiter before offering one to her companion. "Drinking might actually get me through the evening."
