Jace stepped easily up the stairs to Alois's house. By now he'd gotten good at suppressing the bounce in his step that he'd so often let show as a kid. Granted, he'd been a child, but the excitement hadn't vanished. He liked visiting Alois, and he liked it a lot. More than he'd admit out loud.
He rung the doorbell and tried to see past the window, waiting for Alois or someone else to open the door. He knew it might take some time, but he could be patient for his friend.

Holed up in his bedroom, Alois had no desire to go anywhere or see anyone. The white haired boy merely relaxed to the music spilling forth from the speakers of his iPod. He rolled on his stomach, pressing his face into the fluffy fabric of the pillow until the sound of the doorbell rose up over the music. Who could that be? Alois’ curiosity brought him out of his bed.
The area within the walls of his home was so familiar to him that he easily maneuvered through it to the front door. He knew exactly how many steps there were in every stairway, knew where every turn and door was. He hated being home, but at least he felt more secure knowing where every obstacle was. So he made it to the front door without incident. “Who’s there?” He asked, listening for any sounds that could tell him who he’s opened the door to.

"Hey, it's me!" Jace called past the threshold. He could see the outline of Alois's figure past the glass. He was glad it hadn't taken as long as he'd throught it would for Alois to get to it in the first place.
"I came to visit you. Let me in, yeah?"

A familiar voice, muffled by the barrier of wood between them, reached him. He suppressed a groan. Jace was visiting again—lovely. Fingers curled around the brassy knob and turned it. “Hey Jace,” greeted the white haired boy with artificial cheer. “Come in.”
He stepped aside for the other to come inside. “I wasn't expecting you.”
