| "Can I ask you an honest question, Dmitri?"
They were making their rounds - or more Erik pulling his friend along the way simply because he wasn't nearly as intimidating as the bouncer. He blamed his optimistic attitude and inability to stand and glare down at people. Erik made a note to ask how Dmitri pulled it off so well.
Pausing for a moment, he was almost considering his words, and maybe an answer that he'd end up ignoring, before continuing. "Am I intimidating? Like would you be afraid of me?" If the circumstances were to ever call for it, at least. Probably not. Erik couldn't recall a moment when he ever actually managed to pull it off without looking like an idiot. "You should teach me."

He nodded as he walked beside Erik, the nightly rounds again. At first it had been a paid job, come do what you do best. Come intimidate people, make them do what Erik wanted, or given him what they wanted. It wasn't the job of an honest man, and Dmitri knew it; his father would probably be disappointed in him. But then again Dmitri had always known he wasn't the perfect son, even if his father thought so. Dmitri couldn't count on hands the things he hadn't seen or known. What a sinner he was, but then there was Adam and Eve.
He'd come to think of him as a friend.
Dmitri laughed, that thick Russian laced laugh of his. "Afraid of you? No, never." he said with a grin. Erik was shorter than him, happier looking at times. Though, he'd love to see Erik try at the very least. It would be a good laugh. "Teach you? It's not really something you can teach, I don't think." he said, looking down at Erik beside him. "You're about as intimidating as a котенок, probably always will be." he said. He knew that was the exact reason he was even walking beside him at the moment.

| Frowning, Erik let out a slightly agitated huff. Of course he wasn't intimidating, but judging by the way Dmitri said he wasn't really a scary person, he assumed that whatever he said wasn't positive reinforcement to his ego. He wasn't sure if he really wanted to know what Dmitri said, either. Instead he playfully punched Dmitri in the arm, laughing a little as he turned into an apartment complex.
"Are you sure? I mean- what do you do while you're out being a bouncer?" Cross your arms, stare disapprovingly at people as they walk past - that was intimidating, right? Actually, that just sounded plain mean. He wasn't sure if he as all for doing it.
Looking around for a moment, Erik stopped walking. "Which one do you want to stop by first?"

He couldn't help but laugh again as Erik punched him in the arm. "Hey, you asked." he said, all he had done was be honest. He'd given up trying to truly teach Erik any Russian because it didn't seem to stick, so that left him open to make little jabs at him on occasion. It was nice little advantage of sorts, he enjoyed it at the least.
"I stand, look pissed off, and occasionally beat the shit out of someone." he said with a shrug. It was an easy job and since he looked somewhat angry the majority of the time it was even easier. They stopped walking as Erik looked around, the night was about to begin for him.
He rolled his shoulders with a sigh. "It's up to you, doesn't make any difference to me." he grinned that toothed grin of his. It was hard to tell whether he was a man or a Rottweiler on a leash sometimes, but then that was part of his charm, wasn't it?

| It did sound rather mean, among a few of the things that actually didn't pass his moral code. He didn't like hurting people, intentionally or unintentionally, and while it was arguable that his hobby hurt people, he would just tell himself that it was their fault. He didn't put a gun to their heads and force them to buy drugs, and he did try to make it as safe as possible. He probably cared too much.
Nodding, Erik stayed still for a moment, as if he was quickly playing a game of 'eeny miney mo' before walking up to the first door. "I feel like a VIP with a bodyguard." Dmitri did get a pay, it was probably worth a lot more than the job should have been, but he did have money to spare. Knocking a few times, Erik put on his business face.

What would Dmitri be without his demeanor? It was a fair question, if any. He huffed at Erik's mention because that's all he was, a glorified bodyguard. He threw people out and kept them down. It's what he did best, besides things he'd rather pretend didn't happen or exist. "Should I call you boss, shorty?" he grinned at Erik as he ruffled his hair a bit.
Now why he couldn't have a sibling like some of his friends was a fair question as well. He loomed behind Erik now, folding his hands in front of him. He couldn't help but mutter a small prayer, "...forgive us for our sins..." he whispered before turning his head back up to glare ahead of Erik. Oh father would be so proud, Dmitri.

| He laughed a little, breaking facade, before quickly catching himself and going back to a more stern face. "It would make me look like I have more authority. An iron grip." And a complete lie, considering all Erik really did was hold the leash. But it was with slack, and really he did his best to make Dmitri feel more like one of his closer friends than a colleague - but that was how Erik looked at him. Dmitri was one of his best friends, and quite possibly one of the fewer people that he could see himself being friends with many years later.
"Amen." Then the door opened, and it didn't take much more than Dmitri's angry glare and Erik asking before the money was thrust in his direction. "A pleasure doing business with you." Mumbling, he turned on his heel and grinned up at Dmitri. "Just a few houses tonight, though. There's never much collecting on Thursdays anyway."

"Makes up for your shortness." he said. The leash Dmitri was strung on was barely there anymore, and he knew it was due to them growing close. He'd keep Erik around for a long time, he knew it. Sure he enjoyed many people's company, but Erik was something interesting all in himself. He supposed it shouldn't have come as a surprise. Plus, others didn't let Dmitri pick on them as much without losing their patience.
As the door opened, Dmitri gave the man on the other side a toothed grin. It usually went like this when he was here, the money was shoved forward and the door slammed. Dmitri couldn't help but smile back down at him, in truth Erik was the little brother type he'd never had. Plus, he was cute -- Dmitri scolded himself for thinking it. "We should go back to my place, or yours, for a few drinks after this. I deserve it for being so good at this." he nodded in self agreement. "What would you do without me?" he teased as they turned towards the next door.
