Faint music echoed down from speakers far off in some unseen place. He could barely make out the words over the sound of his companions voice. Alois listened to her talk with feigned interest, giving replies whenever it was necessary. Otherwise, he just let her talk. People loved to talk. You wouldn’t believe the things he heard.
“So what was this important thing you needed to talk to someone about?” He asked her. Their clasping hands gave him a good idea where she was. He managed to direct his closed, sightless eyes in her direction. He was smiling. He always smiled despite how he felt inside.

They were at the mall - a crowded place, but innocuous - nobody would think anything of it, friends going out to the mall. Sonja was holding Alois's hand and nervous chatter streamed from her lips as she led them around. Sometimes she glanced through the shop windows at the mannequins and their flat stomachs - it made her nervous, so she tried not to.
"Well," She took a deep breath. "It's really important." Sonja reiterated. "You can't tell anyone."

Alois had barely held much interest in this litter excursion with his so-called-friend. Now it was piqued when she spoke up, instructing him not to tell anyone. Stupid girl. He was probably the last person she should trust. But he hadn’t really given her reason not to. So far, he had been the model friend.
Her trust shouldn’t have been given so readily however. Didn’t she know how terrible people were? The white haired boy almost felt bad enough to tell her to keep her important secret to herself. Almost. “I won’t say a word.” He was lying. What she didn’t know wouldn’t hurt her though. Not yet anyways.

Sonja smiled - Alois had been nothing short of a wonderful friend, and there was no reason not to trust him to keep her secret. She led them over to a bench, plopping herself down and guiding him to sit as well.
"You remember Indie, right?" She stared at the passing people, going about their days as if nothing was wrong, as if her life hadn't just taken a 360 in a matter of days. Sonja took a deep breath and leaned in so she could whisper in his ear. Of course, none of the people passing by cared to listen in, but she couldn't help her caution, misplaced as it was.
"We're having a baby."

From her guidance, he found the bench and took a seat beside her. The constant clamor of the mall rang in his ears but it was easily pushed aside in favor of Sonja’s words. Her important secret had to be something really good if she was so nervous about telling him. What could it be? Her mention of Indie, her boyfriend, gave him a slight idea of what it was. Then she leaned in and said it.
A baby? He let feigned shock surface on his face while inside he felt like grinning like the Cheshire cat. Oh, this was good. If he recalled correctly, she was dating Indie in secret from her brothers. Indie was also the best friend of one of her brothers. Something amusing could come out of this tidbit of information. “Are you sure? Have you seen a doctor yet?”

She bit her lip, shaking her head, pausing a moment before she spoke. "No, but... I took a lot of pregnancy tests." She had been too scared, but she'd made damn sure that she really was pregnant before raising the alarm.
"I don't know how I'm supposed to tell anyone..." The panic in her voice was clear, and she threw her head back with a groan. "What am I gonna do?" It was rhetorical - she couldn't really expect him to give any particularly good advice - what did a sixteen year old boy know about pregnancy? - but she felt better just getting it out, her secret.

If they all were positive, it was very unlikely they were all false positives—or at least, that was what Alois concluded. He wasn’t an expert on the topic. He had sexual education in school, but they never really talked about pregnancy and knowing if you were pregnant. The blind youth never really cared to know either. It wasn’t something he had to worry about.
“This is a tough predicament you’ve gotten yourself in.” He murmured, keeping his voice low enough for her to hear but not loud enough to be overheard. “You’ll have to tell them since it’ll be impossible to hide it. But I doubt anyone will take the news easily, especially your brothers. Hm. I’m not sure what you should do either.”
Oh, but he knew exactly what to do. He was going to let it get around that she was pregnant and watch everything collapse around her.
