Nathan was getting hot and heavy with a bottle of scotch in one of the bathrooms, half in, half out of it, rolls of toilet paper wrapped around his head with a couple having sex right behind him; all the while he was slurring words and murmuring on the phone as if he was trying to be discrete.
"Alright, alright, j-just fuckin' tell me, tell me 'ara, where the f-uck are you? Can't see you anywhere, can't fuckin' see you, it's Valentines and shit like, aren't we supposed to be like, I don't know, what's the fucking word, together or some crap? Crap? Augh, my heaaaaad, just tell me- tell me-" He groaned, bracing his head. He then chugged another good swing of scotch as if it was some kind of magic medicine, watching some boy walk across him barely managing to walk straight - ending up falling flat on his face.
His head wasn't even working.

Tara had her wits about her, more so than the vast majority of the people at this party. If she stumbled or tripped or swayed it was because of some outside force and maybe a little bit of drugs. She hadn't done too much, anyways. There was hardly a kaleidoscope of color behind her eyelids, and even then she could still navigate her phone to try and talk to Nathan.
She bumped into a table and a lamp fell of its side, she swore and didn't bother to pick it up. "I'm downstairs, I told you, downstairs. Near the, uh, kitchen- yeah, the kitchen." She'd walked past the kitchen a few minutes ago, but that was close enough a landmark for her. "I'd bet we're the only couple that isn't together right now." Every person seemed lip locked or otherwise connected with a person in the place, and it was starting to mildly annoy her. She didn't like the meaning behind the holiday, but she still liked the activities that took place.

"Kitchen right, right..." His words slurred as he swung more of the scotch before passing it onto some guy lying on the floor. Nathan was now leaning on the rails. "Where the fuck is that!" He yelled into the phone, evidently completely bypassing her other words. He licked his dry lips, but his sight was all blurry and flowery, and then his support pillar, the beautiful wooden rails, fell from his grip and he tumbled, losing balance and never regaining it, rolling further and further down the long flight of stairs, almost knocking a few people out at the same time.
He rolled onto the floor and pushed himself up a little, scratching his head and blinking sheepishly. He'd manage to get himself in the main artery of the house - the main corridor. Then his mouth slacked open, eyes softened, and he smiled, really, really smiled, and beckoned Tara forward lazily with his two fingers.

she sighed as Nathan shouted across the phone, more exasperated that she couldn't hear his yell from somewhere in the house rather than over the phone. "I told you, it's downstai-" She couldn't finish the word before she heard a series of clatters that registered as him dropping the phone somewhere. She stood stock still, almost ready to sit and wait for him to somehow stumble past, when she heard a bigger kind of commotion and watched as he tumbled down the stairs.
She laughed at him, because it was a funny way of finding him. She snapped her phone shut, put it in her pocket and waited for Nathan to get on his own two feet before striding to him. She wasn't going to get angry at him, more so at this place and this party making it so hard to find him in the first place.
"How fucking hard is it to find the first floor?" She asked, more flustered than she felt. She was conflicted between trying to stay somewhat angry and laughing at Nathan, so her face met somewhere in the middle.

As if he would move his ass. Nathan felt rather fucking comfortable sitting at the bottom of the stairs, so he stayed there, eyes darting up towards a nattering Tara. Nathan though, knew he wasn't gonna have any of her blabbering bullshit. So he shook his head, a smirk on his lips, and pulled her into his lap, whereby he promptly began to sweep away the stray strands of hair on her face, his eyes never once leaving hers.

She was expecting him to say something back, something witty or, rather, stupid. She was caught off guard when he pulled her onto his lap and she did little else but squirm and make herself comfortable on his legs. She averted her eyes and only found another couple making out and looked back to Nathan. She liked him, but he was being cheesy and the fact that it was valentines day probably didn't lessen that any either.
"What, do my eyes look especially blue today?" She asked, kept her hands on his person to steady herself.

"Yeah!" He nodded stupidly. "Ya sure you haven't been drinking too many WKDs?" Nathan snorts, and his arms found themselves wrapping around the smaller girl like an automatic reaction. He smiled, then - and it was almost like he was in love and not drunk off his fucking ass.
Kisses flutter from the bottom of her ear down to her neck, sloppy but sweet, lingering on her collarbones with a sickly sweetness that seemed so uncharacteristic of him. He was so overwhelmingly sweet it was evident that there was no feeling about it; and he just held her like he should've, not because he felt it was right.

Under other circumstances - particularly one where Tara herself wasn't anything close to an aromatic - she might have found the whole situation sweet. But she was with Nathan solely because there was an absence of any of that. She was nothing short of tolerant of his almost in love look.
She'd let him kiss her, maybe laugh a bit because it seemed like they were actors in a scene rather than the real thing. Then again, they weren't even that. Tara wasn't capable of the real thing and she wasn't sure that Nathan was either. Not with each other, at least.
Her hand finds his neck and she pushes down. She wants a real kiss, something physical rather than a mockery of affection.

A string of saliva was what remained when his lips left her collarbones, and he was almost disappointed.
Almost.
He openly laughed at her instead, leaning back further so he was closer and closer to dropping to the floor and lying cold on the ground. What he did do though, was press his forehead against hers, and smirked baring teeth like a lion to a prey. His tongue brushed past the surface of his teeth.
"What's wrong?" Nathan said, teasingly. He looked down, for a moment. "You're begging for it already?"

Just for a few moments, she'd wanted a kiss, but when he laughed she frowned. She knew that he was teasing but she was still just a little bit annoyed. She narrowed her eyes and and let go, waited until he was closer, wanted to bite his lip or something of the like but didn't want to come off as sadistic.
"You get lost on the second fucking floor and expect otherwise?" She jabs him in the side sharply. "Besides, it's Valentines Day, Nath. Aren't we supposed to be - what was it - together or something?" She mocks his tone in a pitch that isn't close to his, but he's drunk and she doesn't really care.

It's then he catches her lips, and he almost doubles forwards, capturing her words like every letter, syllable, would melt on his lips. He kissed her roughly, face at an angle for more maneuverability. It was then he slowed down a little, kiss lazy and drawn long, sampling her like good wine or a hot dog at a sporting event. Tara was just the kind of girl to evoke feelings like that from him. His arms wrapped around her tightly, and it ran down smooth into his gut.
If he was a true romantic, he might've whispered senseless nothings in her ear, wished her 'Happy Valentines', but that would just serve to piss her off. It there was one thing Nathan knew, it was to get people.
So when he draws his lips away from hers, he says something completely different anyway.
"You're such a bitch." He narrowed his eyes, referring to her poor impression of him.

If they weren't lip locked she might have sighed. Nathan was a good kisser, but that was purely in the physical sense. She wasn't god at picking up emotional undertones anyways. What she did know was that rough or not, he wasn't helping her mood. It was going up and down as the evening went on.
She's lost track of the conversation, but she's gotten what she wanted and by that fact she's grinning. His retort wipes the grin off her face, and she narrows her eyes right back at him. "I was spot on, wasn't I?" She tugs his shirt towards her with one of his hands, only somewhat teasing him.

The buzz of the alcohol in him made his fingers tremble and take a rough edge on things. So he held her closer like his life depended on it, yearning for her body to be right up against his, and he closed his eyes and kissed her again and again and again like a meteor shower, a sparkling miracle in the sky, that was what this whole facade was, until it crossed the sky in the next second and sink into the void of the night.
So he kissed her just like that, as if he was drowning, asphyxiated or scared nothing like this was ever going to happen again. He could pretend it was all true for a moment, that it meant more than just a sensory crush, a momentary feeling of completeness, a shard of warmth. Her hair tickled his neck and she smelt like fresh shampoo and roses. Exactly like how a girl should smell like, something he forgot a lot of the time. Tara always seemed above and beyond the boundaries of a girl, but here, that's exactly what she was - a girl sitting on him making out furiously. Just a girl.
And yet, he couldn't decide whether or not this was what he really wanted.

She could pretend to understand, pretend that she was even somewhat capable of returning the facade of affection, but never would she completely understand the concept and wherever Nathan got the passion behind his kisses and touches. At least there was a chance that he knew from experience. She didn't and that made the situation a whole lot more like diffusing a bomb.
It was easy to get lost in it, forget where her boundaries were and even if she slipped up on her act just a little, it wouldn't matter because it would get lost, just like every other little mistake on her part. Or, rather, every tiny thing she did. It was in moments like these that she felt most wanted, most satisfied.
"Nath-" She pulled away, a little breathless. She couldn't remember if she'd taken her pill this morning.
