Malachi arrived at the restaurant early, of course. It was always weird going to restaurants other than the one he worked at, and it was even weirder having a night off. Still, he hadn't spent a lot of time with Hazel recently, and they were well overdue for a date.
Sure, they talked on the phone and texted from time to time, but they needed to see each other in person from time to time as well, of course. So he took a night off and invited her to one of the best restaurants in the city. Now he was simply waiting for her to show up, wearing his nicest suit and he actually combed his hair today, which was a big improvement over the floppy mess it usually was.
The two of them had met on a strange whim. It was a blind date, actually, as a friend had set them up. Well, the date wasn't a complete flop, and he asked her for a second date. She accepted. They'd been dating since then for three months now, even if Malachi barely got to actually go out.

| | | i'm dead in the water still looking for you i'm dead in the water can't you see? can't you see? | Hazel hadn’t seen her boyfriend in quite a while, though she wasn’t too upset about it. Sure, she wanted to see him, but both of the could be so busy at times that it was difficult to find time to go out on a date. However, when Malachi called her to ask if she wanted to go out that weekend, she happily accepted.
It had been a while since she had eaten somewhere so nice, and though she was excited about it, she couldn’t help but be a bit nervous as well. The blonde woman had carefully picked out one of her nicest dresses, a nice sky blue one that fell to her knees with white lace tights and matching white heels. She also had painstakingly curled her long hair and pulled it into a nice half-updo, letting the rest of it fall around her shoulder in loose golden curls. By the time she had finished getting ready, it was almost time for her to leave.
She met Malachi outside of the restaurant, giving him a warm smile. They had been dating for three months now, and though she could still be a little nervous and awkward at times, she felt much more comfortable around him than she had at the beginning of their relationship.

As Hazel walked up he couldn't help but smile a little bit. She always looked so adorable. He wasn't sure if that was a bad or good thing, but he took it in stride and when she came up he greeted her with a smile, a hello and a kiss.
Malachi was warm, he was romantic - he was a chef, after all, and nothing is more romantic than food. He couldn't help it sometimes. Hazel was a bit awkward about it all from time to time but that just made it easier for him to be a little over the top. For as much as Malachi was romantic, he was also a bit of a teaser, and playful teasing was a surefire way to know that he likes you.
Taking Hazel's hand he led her into the restaurant where they were seated in a nice window seat that overlooked the ocean, the setting sun in the distance casting a pinky orange glow across the water. It was a lovely spot and it was also quiet - the perfect spot for catching up.
"It seems like forever since we've been able to sit down like this," Malachi said at the blonde warmly, scanning the menu. "It's worth the wait, though."

She wasn't quite used to eating at such nice places, so the blonde teacher could be a little awkward about it, though she usually relaxed once the two of them managed to start talking. Now that they had been dating for a while, she felt more at ease in their relationship, and wasn't as shy around him as she had been in the past.
Hazel followed her boyfriend to a table that had been placed right next to a window with a gorgeous view, showing the sun setting over the ocean. Its rays spread out across the sparkling water, turning the sky a bright, blazing orange. She couldn't help but take a minute to marvel at the sight, her gaze tearing away from it when her boyfriend spoke up again.
“Yeah, it really is,” she replied, smiling warmly at him. “I've really missed seeing you for a while...”

She marveled at the view and he grinned. It really was a nice view, or so he thought, and she seemed to agree. After a little while she sat down as well and the both of them looked over their menus, trying to decide what to eat. There were so many choices and they all looked so delicious, it was hard to decide.
"I've missed you too," he responded with a slight and sincere smile. Her eyes were wide and shining and innocent and he knew that she meant it. And it was true, he had missed her too. He definitely wasn't lying about that. But maybe it had been in a more friendly way than romantic way...but he wasn't going to say that.
"See anything you like?" he asked, motioning to the menu. "Pick whatever you want."
