Lunch time, finally! While Lucie loved being in the classroom, it was hard to concentrate when she was constantly starving. When the bell rang for her students to go to the lunch room, she happily stood up with them, leaving the room; instead of turning left to head to the cafeteria though, she took a right to head to the teacher's lounge.
She arrived before most of the other teachers during this lunch period did, and went to the fridge to grab her lunch bag. Happy to get to one of the microwaves first, she stuck her tupperware in here and started warming up last night's leftover spaghetti, stomach grumbling as she waited for the food to heat.
Once it was finished in the microwave she went to one of the tables in the room and sat, sitting by herself even though there were some other people eating already. She didn't mind being alone, and besides, she usually sat by Hazel, and the other woman wasn't here yet, so she wanted to save a spot for her.

| | | i'm dead in the water still looking for you i'm dead in the water can't you see? can't you see? | The lunch bell couldn’t have rung soon enough, and Hazel let out a little sigh as she dismissed her class to go to lunch. It’d been a long day already, and it was only about half way over. Still, at least she got a nice lunch break ahead of her.
Hazel made her way down to the teacher’s lounge, and was pleased to see that her good friend Lucie was already sitting there. No one else had arrived yet, but other teachers probably would arrive soon.
“Hello, Lucie,” the blonde girl greeted cheerfully as she made her way over to the refrigerator to grab her lunch bag. “How is your day going?”

As she was eating another person entered the room, and it was Hazel. Lucie smiled as the girl walked in and grabbed her things. The two women were quite similar, actually; they were both teachers, they were both a bit quiet and they both had similar personalities. It made for a surprisingly strong friendship.
"Hi Hazel," she said when the other sat down, continuing to eat her food. "My day's been okay. The students are being a little rowdy, but I think it's just because of the nice weather. They want to get outside and play...hopefully things will calm down after recess."
She took a sip of her water before setting the bottle back down, recapping it so it wouldn't spill before she looked back up at the pigtailed blonde beside her. They'd known each other for a little while now, but had become very close pretty fast, and Lucie couldn't be happier. She wasn't one to have a lot of friends but having one close friend was good enough for her.
"And how about you? How is your day going?"

| | | i'm dead in the water still looking for you i'm dead in the water can't you see? can't you see? | It was nice to have the room to just the two of them, even if it was only for a little while. Hazel had quickly become good friends with Lucie, and it was nice to talk when they could, since their work could keep them a little busy sometimes. They still found little moments to talk during the day, like now.
She took her lunch bag over to the table and sat down next to Lucie, opening it up to pull out half a sub and an apple as well as a bottle of water. The blonde unwrapped her sandwich and bit into it before turning to Lucie to listen to her.
“Mine’s been about the same,” she replied after swallowing her mouthful. “They should be calmer after they return.” She smiled a little before biting into the sub once more.

As Hazel talked, Lucie twirled some of her spaghetti on the plastic fork and took a bite, savoring it. Leftover spaghetti was always the best, hands down. It was great to make a big batch and have a lot of leftovers for the fridge - she was in heaven during spaghetti week.
"Yeah," she said in agreement at her friend's last statement, eating a bit more and sipping her water. While talking was nice, they only had so much time to eat and Lucie wanted to make sure she could finish her meal before she had to go back to work. Taking a few more bites, she looked over at Hazel again.
"And how is everything else going?" she asked with a little smile. "How's your boyfriend?"

She couldn't help but be a bit shy when it came to talking about her personal life. Why, she wasn't quite sure, but she couldn't help herself.
“Things have been going well with him,” Hazel replied, gently pulling at a piece of bread that was dangling off her sub as she said so. “Why do you ask?”

Lucie couldn't help but feel a little jealous. She hadn't had a boyfriend for a while, and even though she was impossibly shy most of the time, it would be nice to have one. And Hazel's boyfriend really was an attractive man, though she'd never say that, especially to Hazel.
"Oh, you know, just wondering," she replied with a smile as she ate a little bit more, taking a sip of her drink. "Just wanted to make sure everything is going okay."
Lucie didn't really know what she'd do if anything bad was going on, though. Would she approach the man, tell him off? She had a hard enough time with confrontation as it was. Still, it was her job as a best friend to make sure everything was okay, and she was glad that Hazel said it was.
