| | | i'm dead in the water still looking for you i'm dead in the water can't you see? can't you see? | It had already been a long day for Hazel, and she had hoped to be able to come home and at least let herself relax for a little bit, maybe watch an episode on TV or something before she would have to turn around and grade that huge stack of papers that was still waiting for her. However, it seemed as if a certain someone had another idea in mind for her night -- that someone being the black streak that raced past her feet as soon as she opened the front door. “Celine!” Hazel called out, quickly trying to grab the black cat, but she slipped out of her grasp and raced off down the street. REsisting the urge to let out a string of profanities, the blonde shut her door, pulled her purse further up her shoulder, and raced after the feline. Unfortunately, it was already rather dark that night, and with so little light, it was going to be hard to track down a black cat. The woman raced after her as fast as she could, but it wasn’t long until she lost track of her pet as it rounded a corner and disappeared. Sighing in frustration, Hazel stopped to catch her breath. “Celine!” she called out, glancing around the area. Usually the times her cat did run off, she didn’t go too far so it usually didn’t take too long to find her. Celine generally liked to roam around a bit until she got hungry enough to return home for food and head scratches. Hazel leaned against the wall of a house, wondering if she should just go home and wait until her pet got bored and returned. Then again, she couldn’t help but worry about her wandering around at night like this. LIONEL RHODES |

After a particularly successful heist, Lionel had slipped into the first unlocked door he found to get off the street. It seemed like a good idea at the time. The streets were likely crawling with police. He had to throw them off his trail. He couldn’t be too careful, except the door he ducked into was a mistake. The lights had been off and he thought there was no one inside. How wrong he was.
Two teens sat in the dark living room with the blue glow of the television illuminating them and the sounds of a horror movie drifted through the house. Well, they were occupied but the only other exit was past them, he discovered after moments of creeping around the house. He couldn’t go back the way he came either. Going out the window was his only choice. There was one down the wall.
Unfortunately, one of the teens must have heard something as he heard her voice sound and her footsteps approach. He tiptoed up the stairs, quietly disappearing from view. He listened for a moment to the voices before. Lionel condiered going back downstairs when the cost was clear before deciding he should try the upstairs window for escape. He found his chance in an opened window in a bedroom.
Lionel was crawling through it before he had time to think against it. It was on the opposite side of the house and the girl’s downstairs were likely not to hear him above the sound of their movie. There was a tree diagonal from the window. He made the jump easily, but the branch he landed on gave way under his weight. He fell to the ground, landing on something soft.

| | | i'm dead in the water still looking for you i'm dead in the water can't you see? can't you see? | Hazel heard some noises coming from up above, and she looked up right as she heard a loud crack, only to see what appeared to be a black mass descending down on her -- very quickly. A heavy weight hit her and sent her crashing to the ground, winding the blonde. She laid there for a moment, trying to get her breath back as she felt the weight that fell on her move a little so it wasn’t quite crushing her like it was before. Once she could move, the young woman turned and looked up at a dark haired male, mouth slightly ajar as she tried to figure out what to say. There were just too many questions. First of all, why was an adult male falling seemingly from the sky? Well, judging by the tree branch she could see hanging sadly from the trunk it had almost completely snapped off of as well as the open window right across from it, it wasn’t a stretch to conclude that he had in fact fallen from there rather than the sky itself. Still, the question remained: why? “Um,” Hazel said once she found her voice again, but the only thing she could say was, “what are you doing?” LIONEL RHODES |

He eased himself off whatever it was he had fallen on, which turned out to be a girl. Whoops. Lionel felt a pang of guilt for the unfortunate victim of his fall. “Whoa, are you okay? I didn’t mean to fall on you.” He would have squeezed in some line about falling for her, but he decided against it. That just wasn’t his style.
“Shhh, not so loud.” The thief pressed his finger to his lips. “You don’t want to wake anyone. It’s late you know. Someone might get mad and come to scream at us or something.” And he didn’t want to draw unnecessary attention. “What are you doing out so late?”

| | | i'm dead in the water still looking for you i'm dead in the water can't you see? can't you see? | He didn’t answer her question, which was a bit odd, but still not quite as odd as a man falling onto her from a tree. Still, he was at least nice enough about it, asking if she was okay and everything. One he had completely gotten off of her, she sat up and tried to brush the dirt off her clothes. Instead of answering her question, he started shushing her, then asking why she was out. “I could ask you the same thing,” the young woman replied, not unkindly. “But I was looking for my cat. He ran out when I opened the door and darted off somewhere down this street.” Her blue eyes flicked back up to where the broken branch was hanging. Why on earth was he up there? The thought occurred to her that he was some kind of pervert trying to peek in windows. However, the window closest to the tree was open, suggesting he might’ve been trying to sneak in, or out. Hazel looked back down at the man before her, and she couldn’t help but be a little bit suspicious now. LIONEL RHODES |

"My folks are old fashioned. I came home from college to stay with them on my week off and then they caught me drinking. So they locked me in my room." He lied, easily and, in his opinion, convincingly. "I am sneaking out. Silly, huh?" Even if she didn't believe him, she was no threat to him.
"You mentioned your cat was missing? Mind if I help you find it?" The cops were looking for him on the other side of the apartment. He could spare some time to lend a hand to a pretty girl. "Its late. I wouldn't feel right letting you search alone in the dark."
