One of Hunter's favorite pastimes was what she called people watching. While most people apparently thought it was a tad strange, she was more than certain that it was one of the more fun things to do - minus maybe cooking and painting. Usually she would pick a rather public place, seating herself in an area where she'd be able to view a good portion of the area. Then she'd do exactly what it would sound like - looking around and seeing if she could spot anything odd about the people who would walk around. One couple was out on a date, but by the looks of things it wasn't a particularly good date. Another was a mother and son having a picnic, and they sure looked like they were having a great time.
Some scenes looked like they were ripped off of a hallmark commercial - like the couple who were kind of overdoing it in the sappy levels. She turned her attention to someone else, having a feeling that they were going to give even her sweet tooth a tooth ache.
Then a familiar head of blonde caught her eye, crouched away somewhere, and Hunter found herself making a beeline straight towards it. "Hey Isobel!" nimbus™ @isobel |

Nova Athenis really did look like the photographs right out of a tourist pamphlet. The weather was mild, the breeze light and warm, carrying cartoonish cotton puff clouds over the city. The park was crowded. Isobel preferred silence to the noise of the city, but the park was filled with chatter and laughter that was more of a backing track than a distraction. She needed to get out more, probably. But that didn't constitute company. That constituted Isobel, perched on a park bench with a book. She didn't see the distraction until she was right on top of her, though it wasn't in her nature to run anyways. "Hunter." She mirrored, with none of the enthusiasm. She glanced a moment to say it, gave a polite smile, and looked back to her book. @hunter

It wasn't surprising when Isobel gave her the obvious sign of not wanting to talk. However, for her, Hunter wasn't exactly the one to cue in on when she was wanted and when she was not. The entire implication of Isobel not wanting her around at all flew right over her head, instead she decided to take a seat on the bench next to her.
Luckily for Isobel, Hunter had enough ideas on how to start conversations that she could practically have a whole conversation with herself - and then some. "What book are you reading?" She tried looking over Isobell's shoulder as inconspicuously as she could, if only because it seemed like a rude thing to do and Hunter did not want to come off as a rude lady. It had occurred to her that she didn't even know what kind of books Isobel liked to read, which only encouraged her trying to make her spine a few inches longer to catch a peek of a title at the top of the page or a few names.
After realizing that she couldn't make her body grow on command, Hunter almost slumped with defeat before she remembered that she was going to say more to Isobel other than about her book. "So how are you?" nimbus™ @isobel |

Hunter was none too perceptive - if she noticed what Isobel was hinting, she didn't take the hint, instead taking up a spot on the bench. Isobel raised a brow, then sighed. With a finger tucked in to save her page, she shut the book and turned it where Hunter could glimpse the cover. Naturally it was school-related, an artist biography. "I'm fine." Isobel replied, opening the book to mark her place, because ignoring Hunter wasn't very effective. She wasn't really busy anyways. She wasn't sure why Hunter seemed to consider them friends or acquaintances, but she hadn't done anything to warrant impoliteness yet. "Yourself?"@hunter

A grin spread across her face when Isobel didn't immediately dismiss her like she thought would have happened. Somehow, Hunter had gotten the idea that her and Isobel were really good friends, despite what Isobel sometimes said, and that she was determined to make Isobel a more outgoing person. Somewhat. As much as the other would allow anyway. The book was closed, and turned so that she could see the cover. It was a biography, and of someone that Hunter hadn't heard of at all. "It looks interesting." or as interesting as a biography could get.
The grin only seemed to grow as Isobel answered her question instead of flat out ignoring her like she sometimes did. It didn't really work anyway, as Hunter didn't quite like being ignored. "I'm great! Never been better, actually." It was an over-exaggeration, as most things happened to be with Hunter. "Do you want to go do something?"

Isobel shrugged, highly doubtful that Hunter would ever find it remotely interesting. She didn't really know what sorts of interests Hunter had, but doubted there were any they shared. That didn't seem to bother Hunter though – nothing ever seemed to deter her, and while Isobel could respect such tenacity, in this case it was more annoying than anything. "Mm-hmm," Hunter was perpetually cheerful, the sort of person whose every day was a happy day. Isobel raised a brow at the offer. "Like what?" She asked, no real intention of agreeing, not when she didn't know what the 'something' was. What Hunter could possibly interest her in. CODED BY ELECTRIC OF GANGNAM STYLE @hunter

She really hadn't thought much farther past that. Hunter was more prepared for Isobel to turn her away then for her to go with it - which meant that her plan on trying to drag Isobel out to do fun things was aparently working. Miraculously, she seemed to fill up with more happiness than what should be possible for one person.
But now she had to think. Where would her and Isobel go, now that she was going to be taking the other willingly along? She went through her brain for current events that sounded like something Isobel would have liked to go through. "Well I think there's a new art museum down the street. Or a carnival that's opened for the rest of the week. Which would you prefer?" Hunter hoped that Isobel would go for the carnival - but she'd go to the art museum without a complaint as well. nimbus™ @isobel |

Isobel wasn't sure why she was going along with this. Maybe Hunter had just caught her on a good day, at a good time. She pursed her lips, considered her options – including the one where she told Hunter she was in fact busy. "I've already been." The art museum, that was. Her attention drifted from the other woman, to all the other people at the park. Isobel had been in Nova Athenis a while now, enough that it was becoming familiar. Its places that, was not so much the people. Isobel hadn't gone out of her way to make any friends, nor had she been particularly responsive to anyone's attempts to befriend her. And it wasn't that she didn't want friends as much as she was just picky about the company she kept. "Alright." Isobel said, carefully. "I suppose we can go see the carnival." She had her camera in her bag, and maybe, if anything she'd take some good shots. CODED BY ELECTRIC OF GANGNAM STYLE @hunter

Hunter wasn't entirely sure what Isobel meant when she said that she'd already been somewhere. Though, with the options that Hunter had given the other, it didn't take much problem solving skills to come to the very quick conclusion that she meant the art museum. Of course she had. An art major at an art museum sounded like the perfect type of last minute field trip anyway. Hunter suddenly felt a little dumber for suggesting such a thing, but she dismissed the thought.
Her response was enough to bring a wide smile to Hunter's already grinning face, and it almost seemed like she was thrilled with the idea that she was able to be the one to drag Isobel out of her usual shell. She was going to be the reason why Isobel went to the carnival, and somehow that made her really happy.
"Really?" Without waiting for a reply, Hunter practically jumped off of the seat and started walking at a comfortable pace to the probably crowded carnival. "We're going to have tons of fun, I can see it already." nimbus™ @isobel |

Heaving a sigh, she tucked her book away into her bag before she slung it over and stood. Hunter had already raced away, and she followed the bobbing head of dark hair at a much calmer pace. She didn't know why Hunter had zeroed in on her, decided that they were friends and decided they were going out. Or why she was going along with it. Maybe at this point it was just easier than refusal. "And what does one do at a carnival?" She asked, even though she was following Hunter already. Isobel might have been to a one, when she was younger, but she wasn't sure what appeal the place held anymore, now that she was an adult. Even as a child, it hadn't been a particularly striking event, it wasn't any sort of highlight of her childhood. CODED BY ELECTRIC OF GANGNAM STYLE @hunter

The question caused her to stop in her tracks, Hunter turning to look at Isobel with a floored expression. She was in the presence of someone who had never been to a carnival before - and somehow she had no idea what to say. Hunter's brain continued reeling, pursuing her lips as she thought over the things she could possibly do.
"A lot of things. There are rides, games, people to watch. Personally, I really like the performances. One time I went and there was a guy who was half snake!" She kept going from there, talking about clowns and cars, and the food. While her mind went a thousand miles an hour, she started walking again, in the general direction of the carnival.
Though when she finally stopped, she sent a smile in Isobel's direction. "We're going to have lots of fun, just you watch." Almost on cue, the sounds of carnival music started to get louder.

By the time Hunter had gotten over her shock to resume walking, Isobel had caught up with her. They walked side by side, and Isobel half-listened to the other girl's long-winded reply to what she had thought was a simple question. Hunter certainly seemed excited, but Isobel had a feeling that their ideas of fun weren't mutual. She wasn't even sure why she had agreed to this. She supposed she didn't have any reason to dislike Hunter, she seemed nice enough if not a bit dense for Isobel's tastes; but she didn't have anything in common with her, no reason to be going to a carnival together. She just nodded, not entirely sure what to say – she could hear the carnival now. Noise and chaos had never really suited Isobel. She was clinical and organized, which wasn't what you'd expect from an artist and very much the reason she had ventured into art. To do something new, something that she wasn't predisposed to. From that point of view, it only made sense to try new things. You couldn't form an opinion on something you didn’t give a chance. CODED BY ELECTRIC OF GANGNAM STYLE @hunter

With Isobel's silence came Hunter's thoughts - which moved even faster than her mouth was physically capable of. While she'd been to plenty her fair share of carnivals, she quickly noted that she had yet to be to this carnival in particular. It was a more recent addition, and she could almost say that she was flooded with ideas on what the two of them could do the moment they entered. Except she couldn't if only because she had yet to explore this one.
Casting a glance over to Isobel, she wondered if the other would be willing to take the reins of their time. "Is there anywhere you'd rather try out first or are you going to trust me to find something fun?" nimbus™ @isobel |

Isobel was never one for small talk, she liked conversation, and everything else, with purpose. Her silence wasn't rude or unexpected. Hunter had quieted as well, until they stepped into the carnival. It was crowded and it was noisy. Children ran around with ride tickets trailing from their sticky fists and young couples wandered hand in hand. "Not particularly." She replied, skimming the grounds. "You seem to have plenty of ideas."CODED BY ELECTRIC OF GANGNAM STYLE @hunter

For once, Isobel was rather wrong in her thoughts. Hunter wasn't entirely sure she had many ideas for them to do offhand, but it didn't seem like walking around was going to be a bad idea either. So she picked a random direction to head in, pausing at a ticket booth to get enough tickets for the both of them for a few rides, assuming Isobel would want to go on more than just one.
Casting a quick grin over to her friend, she picked a random direction to head in and started walking, going past one of the rides that seemed to be a bit to hard for a first-time carnival goer. Instead, she was going to pick one of the classics, one of those swing-like ones that lifted up and turned in circles.
Another grin being shot over at Isobel, she made a beeline for the line. nimbus™ @isobel i don't remember the name of them omg |
