| take that money watch it burn | Tea stood uncertainly in the park. This was out of her element. She shouldn't be here. She should be working. What right did a twenty-five year old have at the amusement park? But, she reflected, it was a holiday of some kind and she had tickets. One of her employees gave her tickets to the Mt. Olympus Theme Park. She didn't understand why. Maybe they thought she had someone to go with? The Teacup Inn was an extended family, but in truth... none of them were actually close to her in a way that she could call any of them up and ask them to hang out. They thought her their boss. Her patrons thought her the owner. Business partners were business partners. Tiena often realized she had no one. Her sister was half a world away. All the friends she made in school were either married, left the island or had grown apart. It was a sad thing to think; being surrounded by people every day and having no one.
In the end, she gave one of two tickets away to one of the stores along the block. They could give it to whoever they wished. She came here alone, expecting nothing. The park was full of couples, friends and family. She smiled at everyone as she walked, her long hair straightened today and bouncing with each step she took. She wore a red sweater dress due to the cold weather lately, a black belt around the middle and black leggings. A white jacket had been brought along in case the weather got colder. Brown boots carried her swiftly.
It was half an hour in that she purchased some hot chocolate and sat at a table all by herself. Most of the attractions were closed. The water park, for one. She smiled, remembering how her old sister taught her how to swim. Carys also took her to her first amusement park. Now her big sis was touring the world, held down by nothing and nobody. She missed her sister. Her family...
I feel... so alone Tiena realized suddenly.

Clarice found parks like this so interesting. A bunch of dumb rides and some stupid mascots and people just flooded into the place. And the variety of people was astounding! Celebrities who could go anywhere, poor people going to the best place they could afford, couples who think some den of screaming children was a romantic getaway. It was amazing how many reasons people had to come to this disgusting little place, which was precisely why Clarice had come that day. People watching was her reason. Sadly, nothing truly interesting had happened aside from a flirtatious remark from some dull boy. His wallet made the pocket of her pants bulge. Despite the fact that she didn't really see the point, Clarice couldn't help but doll herself up a bit. Her hair hung in curling drills, bouncing around her head with every step. A flower-shaped eye patch covered her left eye, a thin strap running around her head to hold it in place, a suitably pretty design in her opinion. Otherwise she wore what she thought were pretty average clothes -- a close fitting pink top and a pair of slim blue jeans held up by a studded belt -- and some nice pink heels. The chilled air running across her arms felt great, and the slight redness to her cheek simply spared her the need for blush. Nonetheless, she was a bit cold and made her way to a concession stand with the hope of remedying that. "One coffee." She ordered in a cheery tone, specifying her need of sugar and cream before tapping her foot impatiently for the minutes it took to prepare. With a wicked smile she payed from the wallet she'd swiped before seeking a table. Of course, she at first wanted a table of her own, but upon seeing a slightly downcast face sitting alone at a table Clarice figured she'd make her self comfortable there instead. "Hey there, glum!" Clarice greeted with a smile, sitting down without so much as giving asking a consideration, "You look awfully alone in this big place, I thought I'd come and brighten up your drab existence!" Wow this girl was pretty! Clarice hated that, and not two seconds into their conversation she was considering how she could maybe ruin her day. @tea

| take that money watch it burn | Glancing up as the younger lady greeted her, Tiena's instincts gave in. Always greet another person properly, lady-like because you are a lady her uncle's voice ran in her ear. She could see herself at a young age attempting to balance three plates at once while listening to his advice. your own feelings don't matter. You're the face of the inn. If your employees see you being down or ill of heart, they will be. Then your patrons will be. It's a vicious cycle, Tiena. She didn't understand it at the time. It had always hurt keeping her emotions bottled up and always isolated from the outside world. Never telling people who she was. Just 'that girl who worked at that outstanding place'. Now everyone knew. It didn't make it any less lonelier. "That is very kind of you, miss" the woman replied, a small smile spreading across her face. The young lady was blunt yet cheerful. In a small way, Tea was reminded of her sister. Though Carys wouldn't be so dressed up. A simple t-shirt, baggy, jeans and high-tops would be enough for her tomboyish sister.
She looked back into the depths of her beverage, thinking a bit before looking back to the stranger. She motioned to her coat that was draped around the back of her chair. She wondered if she should offer its use to the girl, for she dressed more lightly than Tea... "Oh, my manners! My name is Tiena Argall. It is a pleasure to meet you, miss...?" she tilted her head, politely inquiring the girl's name. |
