The manager scowled at his associate, shaking his head as he flicked off the ashes on his cigarette. "Now that's just rude, Salem" He commented, rolling his eyes. To Luca, Salem was acting childish. This wasn't what he signed up fro, babysitting an adult-child. But Salem wasn't bringing in any sort of income at the moment.
"At least tell the band what's going on. Hell, most of them thing their done. Is that really what you want?" Luca asked, eyes narrowed down as he took a drag, then stubbed out the cigarette, tossing the pack he had on the table. He held his lighter in his hand, though, flicking the flame on and off.

Salem smirked, shrugged. It was his job to be rude. Or rather, it wasn't part of his job to be nice. Even if he wasn't working now, this wasn't business time, the conversation had derailed to it pretty quickly, which wasn't expected. Luca sure as hell hadn't called him out here because he was great company.
"I told you, I don't give a shit about the rest of the band." He said firmly, blowing a stream of smoke in Luca's direction, as if to imply or you.

Luca let out a long sigh at his client's comment. Salem drove him to madness, and to smoking, since drinking wasn't his thing. He almost reached for another cigarette, but stopped himself. No need for his silver-haired friend to gloat about him not quitting again. Too bad he couldn't stick to his own promise.
"Well, I can't do my fucking job that you called me for if you don't care about your bandmates" Luca said, rather calmly. The mixture of the curse and his calm voice would make most people run. But Salem had known Luca long enough to know when the guitarist had pissed off his friend. And at the moment, the blonde wasn't happy. He had bills to pay and bail to be made on his dumb ass brother.

He averted his eyes, looking at the worn wood of the bar, his fingers restlessly drumming against its surface. He didn't need to look at Luca to see how angry he was. Truthfully, Salem didn't give a shit. They were friends, they had been friends a long time, but Salem was above apologies, he was above guilt.
"Look," His tone wasn't as sharp as he might have liked it to be, and he downed some of his drink, as if he could take on its bitterness. "I came here to get away from this shit." He tapped out his cigarette into the ash tray before leaning back in his seat, trying to think of what to say, how to say it. He knew his problems seemed petty and implausible to everyone else - he was rich and famous, he had no problems. "I have a fucking job too, and I need a goddamn vacation. Why don't you call it a vacation too? Relax." He cast Luca a drunken grin, and motioned to the bartender, another drink for his friend.

Luca leaned back in his seat, eyes narrowed down as he watched his friend, and client. He hated pressuring the other, but with the extended vacation that Salem was taking, he didn't want to wait any longer. He shook his head at the other, grabbing the drink that the waitress brought out and set in front of the musician, and tossing it back into his mouth. He gagged slightly before allowing his eyes to narrow down.
"I've taken a vacation long enough. Everyone else is ready. But they won't do anything without you, since you're the reason they're all here" He commented with a sigh. His eyes turned towards the waitress, waving her for another drink for both of them. He was tempted to reach for his cigarettes, but Salem just stubbed out his, and really he was suppose to be quitting. He rolled his shoulders back before leaning his elbows on the table. "Sometimes, I wonder if you even want to start working again, or if I should just give up on you. And you know I don't give up that easily" He commented with a shake of his head.

As much as having Luca as a manager was humbling, there was only so much he could knock Salem's ego down with before he started telling outright lies. People cared about him. He was relevant. He was important. Salem smirked at the reminder, unintended as it might have been.
He watched Luca knock back the drink fast and hard, like a desperate man. He seemed resigned as he set down the glass, called for more drinks. Now you're just enabling me, Salem wanted to say, though it felt too light a joke against Luca's heavy words.
Salem sighed. He didn't know what he wanted. The past years, nearly a decade, had passed in a noisy drunken daze. It had been a rush, nonstop, and he hadn't had the time to step aside and think. That was what he needed now, to clear his head.
That's what the drinks were for. He picked up his own and offered it as a toast to Luca before draining it with a grimace. It burned down his throat and it burned up his thoughts.
He hadn't answered the question, he realized, as he set down the glass. "Do you consider me a musician?" He asked the other man, spinning the shot glass on the counter. He looked up at Luca. "Am I a sell-out? A personality?"

While Salem spun his glass around, Luca did the same, all the while his eyes never left his friend, and client. It wasn't like he actually took money from his friend, oh no. He took his share directly from the payment, and then distributed it to the rest of the band. While Luca knew how the save, the fact that the rent was slowly piling up at his place, and the money was dwindling, he was getting a bit desperate. He didn't like feeling desperate all that much.
"I consider you a musician, I just wish you would actually do something with your talent. We could do great things together, as i'm sure you know" The blonde said, eyes narrowed down. He grabbed at the glass the waitress set down in front of him, downing it in one gulp that burned his throat, then handed it back to the waitress before she walked away. When she returned a moment later, with another round of drinks, Luca waved her off, and instead handed her his credit card.
A slight shake of his head came from him before he laughed rather darkly under his breath. "You do have a personality, but it's not one that people can like. I'd like for some sort of motivation to at least get back into the spotlight" He blonde commented, signing the slip when the waitress returned

Salem was only half-listening. He was turning his own thoughts around in his head, drumming his fingers on the counter. He barely noticed the waitress, and he wouldn't have offered to cover the tab anyways. Not that he had any reason to be stingy - it was the principle of it, that Luca had called him out and Luca would foot the bill.
He noticed the way Luca dodged the sell out question, the way he missed the hints. Salem sighed. He had never meant to tell anybody, but it was all over the news and there was no reason it should be a secret from Luca. At least he'd understand why it troubled Salem. "I ran into Lance." He admitted.

Luca was not prepared for what Salem said, and so when he turned his attention towards the fair haired man, he blinked slowly. Now, Luca never held any grudges, nor did he really dislike anyone. But that was one name that really annoyed the hell out of the blonde. He grabbed at his glass, tossing back the last of his drink and wincing at the taste. A cough escaped his lips before he allowed his his eyes to narrow down on his friend. Of course, this could only be the reason why Salem wasn't performing anymore.
"What's he doing back?" The blonde all but growled. It wasn't like him to be like this, but because of some, well, past differences, he couldn't say he was all that thrilled to hear that he was back. Grinding his teeth together, the blonde stood up, hands slamming down on the table. "Just because that bastard's back, doesn't mean shit. You understand?" Luca said. He may have had a little too much to drink, though the blonde had always been a bit of a lightweight.

It was the venom lacing his tone that pulled Salem out of contemplation.
He was surprised by the sudden outburst, and he quirked a brow, studying Luca's expression. He caught the flush in his cheeks, the tension unwound into anger in his posture, Luca had always been the level-headed one. But Salem's anger had had time to simmer, had settled into a heavy knot in his chest that he'd almost learned to ignore.
"He never left." Salem said hoarsely, before averting his eyes and twisting one of the rings on his fingers absently. Lance had never left the island, he'd never left the back of Salem's mind, either.
His gaze flickered back to Luca with a sigh. "Sit down, you're drunk." He murmured. So was he.
