The bookstore was a small thing, really. Nestled in between two bigger, busier ones, it sometimes went unnoticed by the usual passerby. The walls were almost soundproof, so it was almost a reader's paradise—fault being the lack of air conditioning. Nonetheless, Theia loved it like a child and would take care of it almost accordingly; though how anyone could care to graffiti a bookstore was beyond her.
She'd come to work that afternoon only to glimpse a few figures running east down the sidewalk, littering spray cans and laughing raucously. Now she sat on her knees on the pavement, scrubbing at the colorful curse (literally) on the stone wall. Her sleeves were rolled up and a bucket of water was by her feet, but as she got up, she tripped over the edge of it and ended up almost falling on someone right behind her. She quickly righted herself and was apologizing before she'd turned around. "—so sorry I tripped over the bucket are you—" Then she took the time to actually look at who it was she'd bumped into, and a smile broke out onto her face. "Gerik?" | |

OLD FRIENDS were perhaps Gerik's favorite kind of people. This was the exact reason why he tried to visit Theia as often as he could. Sadly, college managed to keep him fairly busy, and he felt a bit guilty about how little he'd really been able to see her since it started. These feelings of guilt -- plus a natural want to reconnect with a friend -- encouraged him to head on down to the book store on his day off.
Giggling hoodlums were one of the last things he expected to see on his way there, and it was a bit upsetting to see that they were fleeing from his friend's place of work. Even now, with both of them grown adults, Geirk hated to see Theia having to do extra work. Too many memories of asthma attacks and rough gym classes on his mind. Nonetheless he held his tongue as he approached, speaking only when she stumbled into him.
"Hey Theia!" He cheered, accented voice rising with excitement, "I have a day off from work, and I thought maybe we could catch up a bit?" Gerik continued, his sentence mixing question and statement.

Theia rarely often saw people that she'd gone to high school with. Most of them had moved on, off the island or in bigger, higher paying jobs than she had now. Gerik was one of the few that still stuck around to chat and say hi. She was grateful that it was him that she'd bumped into and not someone, well, angrier.
"Oh, I'd love to, but," She gestured to to bookstore and the graffiti that was only half faded off the wall, "I have to get this, uh, vandalism cleaned off or my boss will be mad." And she wsn't sure how Aeron would feel about the whole ordeal, actually, but she didn't want to chance it by letting him catch it. "I'd love it if you stopped by another time, though!" She hated sendin off Gerik, but she wouldn't burden him by asking him to help. It was her job, after all.

_ Middle School had been an interesting time for Gerik. Not only was he new to the school he attended in 6th grade, but also the very country it was within. It was a bit nerve-wracking those first few years, but there was someone who made it a lot easier. That someone stood right in front of him.
Theia had been a great friend to him throughout Middle School and onto High School, one of the few people he could really use that word for. Honestly, he couldn't imagine going very long without at least some small chat with her. That's why he was quick to try and help when Theia gave her response.
"Oh, can I help at all?" Gerik offered, not wanting to let this chance get away, "I don't really have any other plans today, so I'd be more than happy to lend a hand. Especially if it means freeing you up."

She wouldn't have asked Gerik to help clean off the graffiti, but she wouldn't turn down his offer either. Any help was appreciated by her and she gestured to the bucket. A bottle of soap and a spare rag was on the ground next to it. "If you could help me clean up this from the wall, that would be great!" She dipped her rag in the bucket and went back to scrubbing, through more furiously on a stubborn spot.
"So how have you been?" She asked brightly. Small talk usually came naturally to her and Gerik certainly wasn't hard to talk to.
