It took Harper an hour of pre-date pep talk to get the nerves down. Even now, he's still pretty much shaking in the knees and fretting in the head as he stands outside of Jamie's front door. He's a little scared that someone that isn't Jamie might answer the door, but he figures it's now or never. His hand shakes a little as he goes to knock on the door. His mind is still reeling, his knees are still shaking a little, but he hopes it'll be okay. JAMIE MARTINELLI

Today is the day they decided on. For the date. By the time Jamie gets home from Harper's he's sure that it was all a dream. He almost wants to call and make sure it actually happened, that it wasn't just some cruel illusion.
He's almost shocked when he actually hears the doorbell. He's the only one home, as far as he knows, and he stumbles over his feet to the door, pulling it open without thinking. It's not until he's facing Harper that he runs a hand through his hair and tries to straighten his blazer.

The door opens and Harper tenses, he feels like he should've brought a gift. Something to calm his nerves, he shoves his hands into his pockets instead. "H-Hey Jamie! A-are you ready?" He forces a weak smile onto his lips, it feels awkward. He feels awkward, he hopes the awkward goes away as time goes on. JAMIE MARTINELLI

Harper looks... good. Neater than Jamie does, at any rate. He's not very good at dealing with stress, it just keeps him from sleep, keeps him out of his mind. He feels out of his mind next to Harper, disheveled and unfitting, but he's ready as he'll ever be.
Jamie glances over his shoulder, almost expecting to realize that one of his cousins is standing there laughing - he can almost hear it ringing in his ear. But he looks back to Harper and the sight of him is grounding.
Nodding, he steps out, shuts the door behind him. Tries to shut the nerves out, too.

The car comes to a stop outside the movie theatre. Harper nods at the driver before getting out of the car first. He waits for Jamie to come out before he closes the door and waves goodbye through the dimmed windows to the chauffeur. He starts to walk towards the theatre but stops to glance over his shoulder to make sure Jamie is followed. "I-is there any specific movie you wanna see?" He didn't know what movie Jamie would've wanted to see so he didn't book anything beforehand. He figures he should ask now rather than when they're at machine. Harper has never been good with waiting in lines after all. JAMIE MARTINELLI, blah

The ride is silent. They don't hold hands and they don't look each other in the eye. Jamie's fidgety, chewing his lip, picking at his jeans, and he bumps his head on the car's frame on the way out, though he doesn't look pained as he climbs out. Just a little dazed. But that might not have much to do with the bump.
Jamie follows Harper towards the theatre, staring at the ground, then up at Harper abruptly when he asks what he wants to see. Jamie isn't very decisive. He's used to going along with other peoples decisions. "Whatever you want."
But it occurs to him that Harper might actually care what Jamie thinks. Enough that he'd asked. Jamie adds on quietly, "Not horror." He's jumpy anywyas, terrified by his own shadow, and he doesn't need any more fuel for his hallucinations. He doesn't need to be walking around in a waking nightmare.
