Today's shift finished a little early for Petunia, so she was able to close her eyes with relief and wonder around town for a little while, until then, she turned tired and hungry and spotted a dainty little cafe just a little further down the street. Chipper, she strolled down to it, holding onto her bag tightly with a sheepish smile.
Pushing open the glass door, a little bell rang out to greet her. She looked around, left and right, wondering where to sit or if she should wait for someone to lead her away. Certainly, the interior looked luscious and a promise of relaxation was whispered from each little seat in the place. Oh, how wonderful! | DO YOU THINK WE'LL

But I'm staring at you now There's no one else around I'm thinking you're the girl for me I'm just saying it's fine by me If you never leave And we can live like this forever It's fine by me In the past I would try Try hard to commit to a girl Wouldn't get too far It always somehow seemed to fall apart But with you, you, you I can see what I need I can dream realistically I knew that this was different from the start ★ Eugh, he was so bored! It wasn't even like there had been no customers in the shop that day, there had been plenty, it was just that his job was so repetitive and dull that he now understood the appeal of going back to school. After all with an actual degree he could get a job that was more meaningful that clipping something into a coffee machine every five minutes when someone wanted a drink. Not that meant he'd be going back to school anytime soon. In fact by the time the blonde showed up, he had taken to balancing a pencil on his face and seeing how long he could get it to stay on there without any aid. It was only the bell that alerted him to the fact there might be customers in the shop that might just tell the manager what he was doing, causing him to jerk his head up, making a frantic attempt to catch the pencil. The moment he had it in his hands he froze in place before glancing at the blonde with a sheepish grin. "Hey ... there. Can I get you anything?"

Her head turned towards the newcomer like a rabbit caught in headlights; Petunia was a daydreamer at heart, and spaced out easily. She looked down at his hand, holding a pencil, and smiled sweetly at him.
"That's a lovely pencil." She remarked innocently. "And um... I'd... I'd like a coffee please. What kinds do you do?" Petunia tilted her head innocently. "And do you... choose where I sit? Or do I sit anywhere? Oh, so confusing..." She poked the space between her two eyebrows in confusion.

"Yeah ... sure I guess it's okay, gets the job done." the redhead replied, tucking the writing implement behind his ear with a smile. "Coffee, well you've come to the right place! We sell tons, all the basics plus all the specials we have on the board back there." Axel replied, tapping his pencil on the large board behind him before continuing "I'd recommend our special 'Cinnamon Latte'. Only around for Christmas!" he added. His friendliness and put on enthusiasm for all things coffee was probably the only reason he still had a job here. "Oh it doesn't matter, normally I'd make people stand and wait but for a girl as cute as yourself I'll bring it over if you tell me where your gonna be." he replied with a wink. Well half of his customers were arsey business folk who couldn't wait for more than five seconds which sucked, but when people decided to be nice to him it was a welcome change. |

Her watchful eye followed the interest in his words, his passion and vitality was something Petunia found herself drawn to immediately. Her eyes glistened, listening for his tone of voice rather than a coffee she'd like the sound of, so she was lost by the time he finished talking to her.
She flushed at his wink, and giggled like a schoolgirl. If this coffee shop turned out to be not far from her work place, that would mean she could come here very often! Her face lightened up at that thought.
"Ah-hum... You said cinnamon latte, right? Could I have one of those?" Petunia blinked, tilting her head curiously. She had never tried any special coffees other than black or white coffee. She wasn't that adventurous, after all, but since he said it with such an excitement the blonde found herself curious, after all.
"Hm, so I can... sit where I want, right? Then, do you have any suggestions?" She laughed awkwardly, itching the side of her face as an outlet for her nerves.

"Yeah, sure, course! Easy for my amazing coffee making skills." the redhead replied, placing a hand on his chest like he was proud of himself. Which he was, because he'd finally mastered the art of using that milk frothing contraption without burning half of his hand off, luckily for his co-workers, who were probably getting sick of his dramatic crying that his hand may never work properly. "Well personally, it's up to you. I however would suggest the seat by the window, the light's better over there. If you wanna listen to my opinion anyway!" Axel answered, turning to the coffee machine to prepare the drink for her before turning back as the machine was left running. "Also if it snows, I don't know really, I just think there's something satisfying watching the snow fall with a warm drink in your hand." he added, pouring the coffee and cinnamon into a cup before frothing the milk and pouring it ontop. "I'm Axel by the way! In case you wanted just to tell my boss who the best server is or you know, you just wanted to remember who I am..." the barista trailed off. What? She was cute, he had a right to be a little nervous! |

Petunia's eyes fluttered in excitement, evidently in awe of her barista's supposed talent in coffee making. The ditsy blonde herself couldn't say she was good at anything in particular, so it was always delightful for herself to meet talented individuals. She clapped with glee.
"Don't be silly!" Petunia giggled. "Not listen to your opinion? Now, why would anyone want to do that? You seem very knowledgeable!" The giggly girl clapped again.
"Of course I'd remember who you are! You're being very good to me, thank you!" Petunia smiled, chipper. "My name is Petunia Flores. I work at the florist's not far from here, actually!" She gave him a childlike grin, as she rolled on the balls of her feet, waiting for her barista to be done with her coffee. Then maybe they could talk more!

Well, he was hoping that working here might transfer some knowledge but it was nice to know it looked like he had some. "Well thank you very much!" he replied with a smile. "Well I wouldn't be doing my job properly, being horrible to nice people like yourself," Axel added, his grin growing as he picked the ceramic white coffee cup up by the handle, stepping out into the seating area. "Oh I know the one, Lacie is always complaining I should get her something from there." Placing the cup down on the table, the redhead spun round to face Petunia before quickly adding "My twin I mean, Lacie ... my twin." He probably should, she had to put up with four guys day in, day out and that was an achievement. Though that didn't mean he wanted Petunia thinking he had a girlfriend or something. |

"You're always very welcome, um, Axel!" She beamed, simply happy that he was happy.
"You think I'm nice? Wow, thank you so much!" Petunia laughed, maybe blushing a little bit. Just a little. She knew she strove to be nice, but hearing it from people was a whole lot of a different matter altogether. At least she was doing something right, she thought, as she waited for her coffee whilst stretching her toes.
"You have a twin?" She gushed, now properly excited. "That's so great! Twins are amazing! Fascinating! When I was little I kept asking my parents why I wasn't a twin, and they just laughed at me, hahah." She laughed to herself at a short, fond memory. "But if that's the case, you should really come by, I'd love to see you! I'm there most of the time, see." She nodded firmly, proud of the fact that her manager wanted her around for work. Sometimes it was boring, long, and tedious, but Petunia thought the customers were all lovely, wonderful, interesting people, and serving them was a great pleasure to her.

You have to share birthday parties and as a kid. Soul destroying stuff," he joked. It really had been. Everything had to be so gender neutral until they were ten and they finally decided that two parties might be worthwhile. Which was great, except it revealed most of their friends came for Lacie and not him at that age. He grew into his looks, lets just put it that way. He should come by? "Maybe I should," he replied with a grin before beginning to head back to the counter, quickly turning on his heel to face back to her. "I could take you out afterwards, if you wanna go out with me that is? Dinner or a movie or something?"Axel asked. Why not? Could be fun, though he hadn't actually asked anyone out since ... a long time ago so he couldn't deny he wasn't a little bit nervous. |

"Oh." She frowned, contemplating him seriously. "I can see why it would be stressful, but then again my birthday parties has never really been that spectacular, sorry to say."
However, his next question caught her off guard. For a usually heavily dense kind of girl when it came to 'matters of the heart', Petunia seemed strangely quick to catch on. She blushed a light pink, covering her face for several seconds.
"Um... Uh... Um..." She looked away frantically. "Is it what they call... a... a date?"

The way she looked away from him made him a little nervous about the whole idea, she wouldn't be looking away from him if she liked him now would she? But she was blushing too! That had to be a good sign didn't it? He didn't know if it was or if it wasn't anymore ... "Erm, yeah like a date. Well, a date. If you want to that is!" Axel replied. If she didn't, he didn't care. God he'd really screwed this up didn't he? |
