[attr="class","text-area"]Days were short by now, thus night fell earlier.
Petunia knew this much, but it didn't mean it would cease to be a problem for her. She was still anxious about the dark, and incredibly aware of the fact that she was alone, cleaning up for the night. Usually, it wouldn't be as such - Heather was off sick today, and the florists was short on manpower, plus, Thursday nights was definitely her turn to close the shop.
Anya, the manager, had already helped her move the display flowers outside inside the shop a few hours ago, and all that was left was to clean the floor, made sure the place wasn't left like a tip, lights out, lock up, and leave. But as the old clock on the wall ticked by the second, Petunia became more and more frightened.
IT'S NEVER THAT EASY, IS IT? @open [newclass=.text-area]width:285px;height:290px;padding-right:5px;overflow:auto;float:right;[/newclass] [newclass=.text-area::-webkit-scrollbar]width: 5px; background: transparent;[/newclass] [newclass=.text-area::-webkit-scrollbar-thumb]background: #fcf123;[/newclass]

One would find it a touch odd that one would go to the other side of town to pick up out flowers and then return to the other side of town to a graveyard to present said flowers but for Ai Ren, it was worth it...even if it was night time because she had to spend the rest of the day volunteering with police but she can handle herself. She did wish walking there was easier. She would take a bus...but doing so would just open up bad memories. Ai looked around until she found the flower store she was looking for. She wondered what to get this time around. Ai looked over at the floors at the front of the store. Nothing much really happened to Ai really. She had nothing new to say to him. She scratched her head in wonder. Come to think of it she wasn't very familiar with the language of flowers. How does one exactly say "it's been a good day?" or "I'm doing alright?" She adjusted her glasses and tapped her foot in wonder as she tried her best to think. Her eyes slanted to someone inside...come to think of it, it was near closing time so she should hurry up fast. "Excuse me! I'd like to make a quick purchase!" Ai walked on inside to the girl who looks like she already plans on cleaning up the place. She might as well just ask right out that she barely knows what to buy. "I was hoping to get um...any flower that expresses a good day?" Yeah wasn't the best words to use but what else can Ai describe her order? Ai really needs to catch up on learning the language of flowers... @open notes: Have an Ai

Petunia was just making sure all the flowers were accounted for in the floral cooler. The weather on Nova Athenis could at worst be rather warm even during the evenings; it was important to make sure they were all okay. The blonde was just putting in the final bucket when a voice cut through the near silent air.
Petunia dropped the bucket and yelped, water now flowing out of the bucket, flowers now dropped on the floor. Just as she was about to shout 'ghost!' with her fingers covering her cheeks, she noticed it was just a sweet looking customer, that's all.
She sighed in relief, and smiled uneasily at the customer. "Sorry about that, um, we're supposed to be closed." Then, she began to pick up each flower and place it into the bucket carefully. She'd have to go to the back and get more water for these poor things, oh dear oh dear.

Ai shuddered at the same time as the girl dropped the bucket. She must've frightened the staff. She saw and noticed flowers also on the ground. Instinctively she walked up to help pick them up but noticed the now slippery ground, nearly slipping for a moment and stepping back not wanting to get in the girl's way. The staff placed her hands on her cheeks, more than likely embarrassed at this situation. "Sorry about that, um, we're supposed to be closed." The last word the girl said hit Ai like a truck. What was she supposed to do now?! She biked all the way here and for nothing. True it was already night time but to close at this hour? She quickly took out her cellphone just to see how late it was. She sighed as she closed it and noticed the girl going over to pick up the flowers. "I-I see..." Ai couldn't hide her disappointment. It looked like she was just going to give her friend the standard prayer and go. She watched as the only staff member started to pick up flowers. "Um...y-you think I can help mop or clean the place up? It is the least I can do to make up for startling you just now."@open notes: Have an Ai

Although it was policy not to sell after working hours, Petunia couldn't help but feel sorry for the poor girl. She seemed genuinely upset about not being able to buy flowers, but Petunia didn't really want to go against the words of her manager. It would be ok... right? She bit her lip uneasily, as each flower was carefully returned to its bucket.
Petunia didn't notice that the customer almost tripped over, being far too preoccupied with her work. She did eventually look up from her crouching position, wide eyed and blinking, until her words finally settled in.
"Oh, no no no! Don't worry about it! It's my job! If I can't do something as simple as this, I really shouldn't be working here. I can't be of no use to the manager!" The blonde laughed lightheartedly, moving the bucket to one side. Hm... the mop was at the back of the shop, but she couldn't exactly leave the customer alone. That wouldn't be a good idea.
She stood up now, stroking her chin.
"Um... What did you want flowers for, Miss? I noticed... you looked particularly distressed. Did something happen?"

"Oh, no no no! Don't worry about it! It's my job! If I can't do something as simple as this, I really shouldn't be working here. I can't be of no use to the manager!" Ai still wanted to help in someway. It was her fault for not keeping track of time. "Um... What did you want flowers for, Miss? I noticed... you looked particularly distressed. Did something happen?" Ai felt a chill down her spine as the girl before her asked her that question...how does she answer that question without some experiences coming back? "I'm visiting someone and wanted to give him flowers." That was all the detail Ai was going to give. She looked around to see if they were any store times. "I was busy for almost the entire day so..." Ai adjusted her glasses and sighed. "But I understand if you can't do anything." Ai looked at the mess caused. "Are you sure you don't need help? I already took a lot of your time."@open notes: Have an Ai

Petunia nodded slowly as if she understood.
"Ah... then he must've been very special to you, right?" Petunia frowned. "I'm sorry to hear that."
Now Petunia was shaking her head, trying to assure this stranger it was okay. "No, this is my job. I said so before right? But I might be able to help you. Please wait here."
With that, she trailed to the back of the shop and took out a bucket full of discounted flowers, and placed them in front of the bespectacled beauty.
"These are discounted stock, and will probably wilt soon, so I can let you choose something for free. I'm sorry, I really want you to be able to buy fresh ones, but some of these only have minor imperfections!" Petunia was already kneeling down, trying to pick out some decent bouquets. "Traditional funeral flowers include lilies, carnations, chrysanthemums, gladioli, and perhaps... even roses, actually. Do you want something less traditional, though?" She peeked up, watching her customer's movements.

"Ah... then he must've been very special to you, right?" Ai nodded. "I'm sorry to hear that." It seems the girl caught Ai's implications. However the long blonde haired girl began to shake her head. "No, this is my job. I said so before right? But I might be able to help you. Please wait here." Ai looked up arching an eyebrow as she went to the back of the shop. Ai can't help but to be taken a back when she was presented with a bucket of flowers. She adjusted her glasses then looked at the girl. "Wait...didn't you say...?""These are discounted stock, and will probably wilt soon, so I can let you choose something for free. I'm sorry, I really want you to be able to buy fresh ones, but some of these only have minor imperfections!" Ai bent down at the same time as the girl speaking. "Traditional funeral flowers include lilies, carnations, chrysanthemums, gladioli, and perhaps... even roses, actually. Do you want something less traditional, though?" Ai placed a hand upon her chin in thought before then looking over at her. "Why don't you pick? I'll tell him that a nice girl picked them out." Something then finally dawned on to Ai. "I never caught your name. I'm Ai Ren, it is great to meet you." A smile was on Ai's face. It would also be good for her to know more people at the very least as well. @open notes: Have an Ai

Petunia nodded, and knelt down to carefully go through the flowers. Most of these were of the simple kind, nothing extravagant, but she managed to spot several long stemmed chrysanthemums within the bucket, some white, some yellow.
She then stood with a small bouquet of them.
"Um, I have some chrysanthemums here, white is the traditional colour, but yellow isn't disrespectful either. Are these alright? Would you like a look?" Petunia blinked, only just realising the customer had asked for her name.
"Oh, um, I'm sorry, uh- My name's Petunia. Petunia Flores." She smiled, nodding politely.

The girl went through and started to sort out the flowers. Ai really was lucky to have encountered this person. She would've improvised by providing her dinner as a substitute offering instead of the usual flowers but she would imagine he wouldn't exactly like that. It was bad enough she wasn't eating in the most healthy manner these past few days. Granted she is constantly exercising and working hard but none the less... "Um, I have some chrysanthemums here, white is the traditional colour, but yellow isn't disrespectful either. Are these alright? Would you like a look?" Ai took a look at the flowers and smiled. She was no expert in what they meant but they looked in good condition despite being considered discount. These will be good enough for her. Ai nodded toward the girl. "There are lovely. Thank you.""Oh, um, I'm sorry, uh- My name's Petunia. Petunia Flores." Petunia...Ai mentally pronounced the words in her head and then smiled. "Its nice to meet you Petuna." Ai sadly has not realized she just destroyed the pronunciation of the good lady's name. In other words, Ai still needs to practice her English. "Thank you again for all of this." Ai said once more. "Well, I better not keep you here any further. I'll be sure to visit at a more reasonable time next time." @open notes: Have an Ai

Petunia offered the lady a strained smile, too polite to point out her pronunciation mistake. It wasn't her fault, and Petunia liked to be nice to people.
"I certainly do hope youll visit us again, and please don't rat me out!" Petunia begged jokingly. She quickly headed to the counter and wrapped the flowers in plain clear plastic and a sheet of white tissue paper, before taping both to it would look nice.
She then handed them to her customer, smiling lightly.
"I hope these will be appreciated by him, Ai."

"I certainly do hope you'll visit us again." Ai nodded. She also made a mental note to visit this place at a more reasonable time. Maybe next time she'll bike. "and please don't rat me out!" Ai laughed. She wondered how this girl would react to the fact that she is training to someday be a member of law enforcement? Ai waited as Petunia went over to the counter to wrap up the flowers and present them to her."I hope these will be appreciated by him, Ai." Ai nodded as she collected the flowers. "Thank you. I'll come by to visit whenever I have the time. At appropriate hours of course." Ai adjusted her glasses and started to leave. She turned around one more time to wave good bye and started to head off. Running on over to the graveyard. "Sorry for the late flowers!" Ai said placing the flowers on the grave and then clapping her hands together in prayer. "Got held up by volunteering today and got to the flower shop late." She then bent down to knee level. "A nice girl named Petuna today...I think I butchered the pronunciation so I'll just write it down for you." Ai took a out a piece of paper and a pen she had stashed. "Also don't worry I'll get dinner soon..." The rest of the night, any passerbys would hear a small conversation going on in the graveyard. @open notes: You are finally free from my awkward post schedule o/
