YOU'RE LIKE A WILDFIRE @alex It was only a matter of time - fights attracted crowds, people got pictures and pictures got recognized. He had been trying to keep on the down low - the only way his failed hiatus could have gotten worse was if more than just his manager caught wind of him back in Nova. And now that was exactly what had happened.
He was fucking furious - his phone was off, he hadn't even bothered to check online for any news surfacing. Lance and what he'd said was aggravating enough, never mind with any of the media involved.
Now he was sitting back on the couch, mulling, with his head thrown back against the cushions and an ice pack pressed to his eye, starting to swell into bruising. He'd been grinding his teeth since he'd walked off, and his jaw was aching. So was his head.
He needed a drink. Whenever he could be assed to get up and pour himself one. CODED BY DUCKIE OF GS

Salem, Salem, Salem. Salem did this, but then he did that, cursed out that bartender and punched the puppy in the face for good measure. He was the reason for everything bad in the world, Alex was certain, because there really wasn't any other reason she could think up.
Alex was relaxing on the couch, watching a movie when suddenly her phone started going off. It was a text message from a friend, telling her that Salem was on the news - rockstar spotted at island town.
That was when she decided that she had had her fill with Salem's attitude. He was supposed to be laying low, and this - obviously - was not laying low. This was the opposite of laying low.
With a prominent frown on her face, Alex made her way to Salem's abode, and knocked three times before crossing her arms and waiting.

YOU'RE LIKE A WILDFIRE @alex Salem let out an audible groan at the sound of knocking at his door. It was the top floor penthouse - not just anyone was allowed up here, not just anyone knew where he lived.
But he didn't give a shit if it was the fucking president pounding on his door right now. "Fuck off." He hadn't even locked the door, but he couldn't exactly be bothered to get up and remedy the fact. The best he could do was adjust the ice pack - hissing a little as he shifted it on his face - and hope whoever it was wasn't going to try the door.
Though, he had feeling he knew who it was, and he had a feeling that they would do just that. CODED BY DUCKIE OF GS

Maybe if she were in a better mood, she'd have listened and stormed off in the direction she came. Or, maybe if the single person she was apparently responsible for like a childcare service for a four year old hadn't have gotten into a fight, she wouldn't have been standing outside of the door like a pissed off idiot.
Then again, she didn't expect much more from him anyway.
With a roll of her eyes, the very-much audible response to her knocking went ignored as she twisted the knob. Either he was as dumb as she sometimes liked to think he was, or he was just too beaten up to care. She hoped that his fight with whoever was exhilarating, because it was the last thing he was going to be doing that wasn't already pre-booked.
Hands on her hips, border-line scowl planted on her face, Alex stood at the edge of his couch. It took her a moment to grasp words. "We can't even be on a pleasant hiatus, before you go and make a fool of yourself."

YOU'RE LIKE A WILDFIRE @alex He saw Alex from the corner of his good eye, lip curling. Of course she was here with a lecture - she seemed to think he was a little kid who didn't know better.
"Believe me, Alex, I would fucking love a pleasant hiatus." Salem wasn't looking for attention - he had slipped off to his hometown in hopes of privacy, in hopes of laying low. But fame and scandal stalked after him. How rotten was his luck, that of all people, he'd run into Lance again? That he'd get into a fistfight with him. They hadn't parted with so much resentment, but it was as if it had accumulated in all the years they'd spent out of contact.
He heaved a sigh, dropping the ice onto the table. He looked at Alex expectantly - just how bad did he look? CODED BY DUCKIE OF GS

As much as she wanted to lecture him to hell and back, she held her tongue after the one outburst. She'd rather not piss him off again, especially since he was already in a piss-poor attitude. Instead, she shook her head and walked off to the bathroom, returning minutes later with a first aid kit.
"Move the ice." She mumbled, kneeling down in front of him. "You're a mess."
"So who did you piss off and why?"

He was already prepared to tell her to shut the fuck off and get the fuck out - he had a certain respect for Alex, but right now he wasn't in the mood to deal with any of her chiding. Instead he just sort of gaped after her as she turned silently on her heel.
She came back with a first aid kit - he had one of those? - and he stared at her mutely for a second before he complied, leaning closer.
"Old bandmate. Original frontman." He muttered.

After the first fight - at least since Salem hired her - she had figured that someone had just gotten on his nerves, and that he simply threw a punch to keep his dignity intact. After countless others, Alex had learned that Salem had a shocking lack of first aid kits, and instead she decided to buy him one. Keep it hidden somewhere for moments such as this one.
Opening it up, she pulled out an alcohol wipe. Once the ice was moved away, she started dabbing at the various cuts that were probably from this supposed bandmate. "It looks like you really pissed him off." It was more muttered to herself, but given that she happened to be rather close to him at the moment, he probably overheard it.
"Did you kick his ass?"

Salem didn't get into fights often, if ever. Usually he only got a few punches in before things got broken apart. So it wasn't like he got any worse than a bit of bruising, cuts.
He didn't protest her nursing any more. He winced a little at the stinging, but didn't move away, hissing quietly through his teeth. He gave a half hearted scoff of a chuckle.
"Nah. I tried to duck out before the cameras." Salem didn't differenciate between good and bad publicity, but fact of the matter was he didn't want any sort of publicity right now. "What are they saying?" He didn't need to clarify who they were.

Ignoring his signs of pain, Alex set aside the first aid kit, figuring that everything else would heal fine so long as he iced it. Which, thankfully, he was doing before she walked in. Pushing the ice pack back into his lap, she instead took a seat in a chair nearby.
"Some are saying that you started the fight, that you've finally cracked and went off the deep end. There was a claim of violence in your past as well." Nothing that bad, though. Thankfully. "It'll be here and there soon enough. They know where you are now, though."

Sometimes he thought it was better not to know. At some point in his rise to fame he'd stopped caring what shit people threw around about him, but he couldn't keep from being curious. He had learned to be unaffected, not to care, and it was strange, the anger that seized him when Alex answered.
Gritting his teeth, Salem pressed the ice back back to his face. He had to draw a deep breath and let it out slow before he said anything. "A guy can't even go out for a pack of fucking smokes anymore." He grumbled. "Wanna pour me a drink?"
