✘ from a middle class background, courtney's father died when she was twelve leaving it as just her, her mother and her younger brother - who courtney pretty much raised due to the fact that when her husband died her mother became very withdrawn from her children, turning to alcohol instead. this continued for a while until her mother decided that she was going to get help and decided to go to a support group where she met courtney's step father, who was pretty rich. however she didn't actually tell her children she'd met this man until she announced they were moving in together, as a result courtney and her mother had a very strained relationship, however she has a very strong relationship with her step father. however when they got married courtney chose to keep her father's last name unlike her brother who took their step-father's name 'appleby'
✘ after going through the education system, courtney decided that politics would be the best career choice (mainly for the money it brought in, she wasn't going to go back to being middle class) for her so she enrolled at oxford university majoring in politics with every intent on getting there all by herself. however when she wasn't getting noticed by herself, after much debate she decided to date and later marry damien hurst mainly so she could use his name for her own political gain. and it worked, after a while she quit feeling guilty about the whole thing too.
✘ however because this marriage failed, the two got divorced however the financial aspects still need sorting, with damien owing her a large amount of money which she is pretty intent on getting to add to her own fortune.
✘ despite living in nova athenis, courtney is a british politician meaning that she has to commute back and forth from her home here. she's one of the youngest members of parliament as well, proving that hard work (and a name) can get you places.
✘ she occasionally gets very severe migraines which she has to sleep off for a day. she also took self defense classes when she was younger and is perfectly capable of handling herself too.
✘ she's also very spiritual and is a great believer in destiny.
