DEFLOURA, ZAEL

• zael is a mystery shrouded by mystery, using lies and taking advantage of his acting skills to fool others into believing what he wants them to. his usual persona is not completely a lie, his true deceit lying within what others do and no not see

• upon first glance zael appears to be no more than your average, aloof guy fooling around with his friends and going about his daily life just like everyone else. he works at a host club, where he puts his talents to further good use enticing beautiful (and not so beautiful) women into falling in love with him and spends his free time dabbling in photography

• only a short time ago others would have also known him to be a ruthless monster, one with no concept of regret, nothing to lose, and a long list of names in his little black book. unlike back then however, no one in his current life has - or will - ever see this side of him. this side of him has not been completely diminished however, and every once in a while it slips by his guard and bears its fangs at an unsuspecting victim

• his parents had been poor when zael was born, and only proceeded to get lower and lower on the rung of poverty. they owed a large amount of money to his mother's brother who at the time was a part of the local gang in their town. desperate for money and in an attempt to give their son a better life - or so they told him - his parents allowed his uncle to take him under his wing

• zael grew quickly, and with him his abilities rose in both number and strength. at fifteen he was officially recruited by his uncle's gang, proving himself a valuable asset with the talents he had learned during his upbringing. he was first recognized by the leader when he unwittingly saved the life of his eldest son, joseph, at eighteen

• in the three short years after joseph and zael became fast friends, and he learned many tricks of the trade through the man and his father. his solid footing within the group gained him popularity and reputation faster then some would have liked. he became known as the black zephyr, and some, like his uncle, became jealous. how dare some giggling punk get so cozy with their leader? but once they witnessed his capacity for violence and learned of the true face beneath the mask, they tolerated his cheerful nature for their own sake. the members of the gang became his family

• it wasn't until joseph turned on him did he realize his ignorance. the bloody incident leaving his best friend dead and zael on the run. he spent the next two years hiding, eventually making his way to Nova Athenis. in his search for a new life he found himself introduced to a host club, where he has since demonstrated his ability to charm the ladies

• but the past will always catch up with you, and he has heard tell of his fellow ex-gang members on the hunt for blood. twice now he has had contact, and twice he has reminded them of his power. it's going to take a lot more then that to take him out, and zael isn't running away anymore
