She'd finished a late shift, and she had a Styrofoam container of leftovers still warm in one hand, the other holding her purse. It was dark out, and Claudia was on her guard, senses razor sharp for suspicious figures and strange noises.
Perhaps a bit too sharp – a cat meowed and she nearly jumped out of her skin, with a gasp and a hand flying to her chest. When she finally spotted the cat – big and orange and rather unusual – she exhaled, relieved.
"Ah, you scared me!" She beamed down at it – at least animals didn't mind if she didn't speak English. "Are you hungry, kitty?" Claudia glanced around – there didn't seem to be anyone around as she smoothed down her skirt to crouch and put down the Styrofoam container of leftovers. The cat sniffed at it, and she laughed lightly, patting it on the head and telling it to be patient as she unclasped the container.

@claudia Bartending was one of the worst jobs ever, and Caeden wondered all the time why he even bothered with it in the first place - considering the fact that he wasn't particularly fond of other people, to put it lightly. When he managed to make his way back home, he had noticed that Biddle had left, though the way it had managed to escape remained unknown.
It hadn't taken long for him to find out, either. When the ball of fluff wasn't waiting at the door for him, Caeden had instantly assumed there was something wrong. Then he hadn't even bothered to show up for dinner, happening once Caeden managed to get his things away, and that was when he figured the cat had weaseled his way out. Again. With a sigh, he had his coat thrown on, grabbed the cat treats, and made his way back out the door.
Occasionally shaking the treats as he went, Caeden hoped that the cat didn't make his way too far out - or that whoever caught him was smart enough to call the number attached to his collar. But, his prayers were answered when he saw Biddl begging for food, from a girl, and it had dawned on him that he wasn't going to be able to avoid his way around the inevitable.

The cat was picking at the leftovers, and Claudia just wrapped her arms around her knees and watched until the sound of footsteps drew her attention upwards. There was a man with a brightly coloured package - cat treats, Claudia saw from the drawing on the label, and she was quick to put things together. He looked displeased - he should have been happier to be reunited with his pet, but perhaps he had just been worried. She smiled up at him anyways.
She picked her bag up from where she'd rested it as she got up, onto his eye level. "Your cat?" She said, her words rolling out with a thick accent, pointing towards the animal. "Very cute!" | @caeden | CODED BY ELECTRIC OF GS

@claudia Even though he had a bag of treats in his hand, it seemed that the cat didn't exactly want them. Instead, Biddle stayed over by the girl, enjoying the food that she had given him. Caeden rolled his eyes, figuring he could let the cat stick around for a little while longer, he instead turned his attention to the girl.
The one who had said something and was probably expecting him to return the favor eventually. In the meantime, he took the moment of being outside to light a cigarette. "I'm sure he'll appreciate that." Her accent was thick, and if he had to guess it would be south american - but he tried not to pay attention to that. She wrinkled her nose slightly as he lit up a cigarette, bending down to scratch behind the cat's ears in the meantime. Claudia straightened, considered his words, tilting her head as she listened and found enough familiar words to piece together the meaning. She nodded, then gave a small shrug. She was foreign, not stupid, but late shifts couldn't be helped.
"I work." She explained, raising an arm to point in the general direction of the diner. | @caeden | CODED BY ELECTRIC OF GS

@claudia Casting a glance over at Biddle, Caeden frowned at the thought of having to deal with it. He wondered briefly if it was the girl's dinner, and whether he was feeling guilty about his cat of all things eating it. Then again, it was partially her fault for letting him eat the food in the first place.
Following her arm, his frowned seemed to deepen slightly. "Uh.. Huh." Apparently she worked, and he wasn't entirely sure if she was pointing to one of the buildings that was directly nearby or in some general area - but he wasn't given the option to really worry about details. "He didn't eat your dinner, did he?" Another glance was cast a Biddle, one that clearly read "you're not getting dinner tonight".

He didn't seem all that happy to have found his cat, or to have met Claudia, but her grin didn’t falter, and she dropped her arm.
"No, no." She assured the man with a smile. Sometimes the diner's leftovers were her dinner, but more often than not she had given them away by the time she got home. To homeless people, to strays, to anyone who needed it more than she did. "I can… cook. Is okay!" Claudia said with a nod. She didn't even have her own apartment yet, that's what she was saving up for.
The cat hadn't even ended up a stray, but she didn't think it a waste – he seemed to enjoy his dinner – and what if he hadn't been found so quickly, god forbid. "Good, that you… find your cat." | @caeden | CODED BY ELECTRIC OF GS

@claudia When his blatant rudeness didn't throw her off, Caeden for a moment wasn't sure what to do. Usually it was his attitude that threw people off, made them turn away and call him an asshole under their breathe. But then there was this girl, who was a little annoying with how she was just shoving this happiness in his face. He wasn't sure if he even minded it or not.
Maybe if he weren't in a permanently sour mood, he'd have said that the broken english was cute - charming, even. However, in this case, it only seemed to make his frown more prominent, as he hoped that if his razor sharp personality didn't shove her away that maybe his smoking would. "I can't say that surprises me." He mumbled, watching as Biddle walked up to the girl, purring, and rubbed himself against her leg.
A shrug was given to the statement, as he watched Biddle almost with distaste. "Yeah, it is. I'd be in trouble if he got lost anyway." There was almost sincerity in his voice, almost a I'd miss him if he were gone but Caeden caught himself. He was indifferent, he refused to bring himself to like much of anything - the cat-gift from his family being one of them. made by CAPTAIN of GANGNAM STYLE

Maybe because she didn't know English, maybe she was just deciding to assume the best of him, maybe she was just missing the usual cues, just smiling brightly.
She laughed lightly as the cat rubbed against her leg in thanks - it was a strange cat, but it was a friendly one, and she bent down to pick it up. "So sweet," she crooned, stroking his head. She looked up from the cat to the owner. "I'm Claudia." She told him, deciding there was no reason not to be polite. He might not have been the most cheerful of people, but he hadn't said anything outright mean yet, at least not as far as she could tell. | @caeden | CODED BY ELECTRIC OF GS

@claudia Claudia. He had an aunt Claudia, his favorite aunt at least, and for some reason he found his frown loosening up a little. Biddle purred louder, being picked up and rubbing his head against her hand. Caeden may not have liked the girl, but Biddle sure did.
It had occurred to him that it would have been polite to introduce himself - maybe polite to have done it in the first place, even. "Caeden." After some reluctance, he had given in. "How far away do you live?" He figured he'd at least escort her, considering his cat ate all of her leftovers.
And he maybe sort of kind of was interested in her. made by CAPTAIN of GANGNAM STYLE

"Caeden." She mirrored, as always did, to help her remember, to make sure she was saying it right. She stroked the cat a few more times, scratched behinds its soft ears, and then held it out to him.
His next question caught her off guard, but at least it reaffirmed what she'd assumed - that he wasn't a bad person, not at all. "Ah, um... just ten minutes." She said. It wasn't very long walk. | @caeden | CODED BY ELECTRIC OF GS

@claudia Once again, if he were a different person under different circumstances, he'd have thought that her foreignness was cute. The mirroring of his name was cute, but of course he chose to ignore it. When the cat was held out to him, though, he shook his head. "Biddle likes you, you should take advantage of that."
Ten minutes wasn't too much, it wasn't like he was going to walk to the other side of town just to make sure he was going to be safe anyway. "I'll walk you there, then." Whether she wanted him to or not, he didn't quite care what she said anyway, because he was already decided. made by CAPTAIN of GANGNAM STYLE

She blinked blankly at him a moment when he spoke, not quite catching the meaning in his words, but realizing it quickly when he made no move to take the cat. She didn't need to be told twice, pulling the cat back against her chest, petting it absently.
"Walk... me?" This too, took a second to sink in. "Oh! You are... sure?" Admittedly, she would have felt better to have someone walk with her, especially a cute boy with a cute cat. | @caeden | CODED BY ELECTRIC OF GS

@claudia He wasn't sure if what he was saying was registering, but she didn't insist on him taking the cat, so he could only assume that she understood. Biddle seemed happy enough, with how he rubbed against her chest, purring happily like he had just gotten a new favorite toy.
Caeden almost clarifed, before it seemed to click. Somehow, he almost said unfortunately, and it definitely seemed like something he would have said had he not instead been focusing really hard on not being too mean. Despite his better judgement. "Thank you!" She beamed at Caeden. At least she would have a chance to hold the purring little ball of fluff a little longer, and he seemed to be happy to stay in her arms.
Claudia glanced around to remember where she was - regaining her bearings very quickly. She shifted the cat's weight in her arms so she could hitch her purse up more securely onto her shoulder. She waved a hand to beckon Caeden as she started walking. | @caeden | CODED BY ELECTRIC OF GS
