Why don't you take a break? That was what her boss told her when he told her she didn't have to come into work today. To Lacie, the term 'taking a break' was as foreign as listening to a French drama without any subtitles. The crimson tuft lass had no idea as to why they were giving the day off. It wasn't like she didn't come into work the past week straight with no rest in between. She was ready to work! She had her whole day planned out after working her shift. After her job, it would be grocery shopping, then prepping for dinner back home for the boys. Now her whole day was thrown into a loop. She wasn't used to having free time. Having no responsibilities meant that she wasn't obligated to any routines. Her sense of balance was thrown out the window just with this one day. There was too much time between getting food for dinner in the evening. With nothing else on her agenda otherwise, she made her way over to the beach. How long has it been since the previous visit to the beach? It seemed like a such a long time ago. If her memory served her right, she went to the beach to play with her twin brother, and the rest of her family. Back when they were together as a family... Now, now. This wasn't the time to get all brooding over the past. What was done is done. Now that she was revisiting it after so many years, well, she had absolutely no idea what do. Straight-lace, no nonsense, upstanding Lacie Jones was the very epitome of fun-sucker. Or so she'd been affectionately told on many occasions by loving flatmates. Though that didn't mean she couldn't enjoy the ocean breezes, and walk in the sand bare feet. The foam that washed up on the shore bubbling as white as the sand~ The beach, the ocean, the sand and the sun? This wasn't a place where a girl should be on her own. A sigh escaped from her lips wishing this would've been better planned. Rather than strolling about as if she had a destination to go to when she didn't. It was a rather off day. Kicking his shoes off to the side, Luke stepped barefooted into the sandy beach. The soft, unstable ground sank beneath this feet and wrapped its grains around his toes. He stepped forward, leaving temporal footprints as the dry sand quickly flowed back in where he had left his mark and covered the trances of anyone being there.
He usually had a middle school student to tutor in maths today, but the boy called in sick today, so he was free to do whatever he wanted. So here he was at the beach alone with his usual companion slung over his shoulder and safely nestled in a waterproof bag because he was not going to take a chance of his precious camera being wet and ruined because of some unexpected situation.
A small breeze swept through the beach and he breathed in the scent of the water and wind. Contrary to what most people would have thought, Luke did love the outdoors. Just because he wasn't the must sociable of people didn't mean that he was the type to lock himself up in his room all day. He would welcome the outdoors as opposed to the boring walls of his room any day.
Stopping in the middle of the beach, Luke decided to unzipped his bag and bring his camera out to the open. Turning it on and raising it up, he focused on the shoreline in front of him, ready to press capture. Until someone disrupted the scenery in front of him with their presence. A moment of hesitation and a pause as he shifted the position of the camera before the shutter sounded anyways, capturing the person onto his photo as part as the scenery.
"How strange of you not to be at work today," he remarked, lowering his camera so that he was now looking at the girl in front of him through his own eyes alone. "Are your brother's habits starting to rub off on you?" Who knows. Axel's laziness was so strong that it could possibly affect those around him. | WORDS: 000 TAGS: @kitty NOTES: i am here like i said i would be <3 CREDIT: LAIKA OF GS! |

Lacie tucked a few loose strands of her crimson locks behind her ear. The rest pulled up into her ponytail fluttering in the ocean winds like ribbons dancing up in the air. Her thoughts still fixated on why she was told to take the day off. Did she miss a spot when she was cleaning the dishes? Was there a customer complaint on her services? That was going to bother her until she went back to work. It was quite an enticing thought to return back to work to ask her boss why he was giving her the day off. She was worried that she wasn't meeting standard regulations of the restaurant. Her train of pensive thoughts were quickly pulled away by the sound of a camera snapping. It came nearby which woke the eighteen year old up from her drowning worry. A voice, male, family to her ears rang in a teasing tone. A frown marred her lips as she turned to face a certain bluenette looking up at her behind a pair of fancy camera lens. "No, Luke," she sighed softly, "I'd be sooner dead than to turn into a good for nothing bum. It's called taking a day off. Ever heard of it?" Because Lacie certainly was having a hard time grasping it. Besides, as long as she was living under the same roof as Axel then she was going to try to get him to do something. In the mean time, her focus was on Luke. "What brings you all the way out here?" she inquired, "Or wait, let me guess, your 'Lacie senses' were tingling, telling you I would be here. It's a phenomenon, so you must take pictures?"Randomly taking pictures out of the blue was rather creepy. Upon hearing the sound of the shutter, Lacie turned towards him with a frown on her face. Not that he really expected anything else. A smile at him? After secretly taking her photo? No. Never. They bickered more than chatted and he knew it weird her out whenever he shot some photos of her behind her back. If she did end up giving him the brightest smile ever then he would really think that there was something wrong with her aside from the fact that she wasn't working today.
"That sounds more like a question you should be asking yourself," he countered her. For a workaholic such as her, would she even know that the word and concept of 'taking a day off' even existed? Apparently and surprisingly so. "What brought this on? Broke too many plates? Spilled coffee over someone's head?" Because honestly, knowing Lacie it was strange for her to take a break herself. He did know for years. Having no work to do meant a shift in her daily routine, and that was something he knew the girl didn't feel comfortable with.
He resisted the urge to roll his eyes as she answered her next question herself. "No. But if I did have 'Lacie senses' you would surely be seeing less of me." Obviously meaning he would navigate himself away from wherever she's at. Not that he hated her or anything. No, to be honest, she was more tolerable than most girls. Especially more than some girl by the name of Aralynn Quinzel. Than again, it just might be because he knew her longer than most. "The scenery was calling me," he continued. "And you just so happened to walk into my line of vision. If you wanted your picture to be taken by me so badly, you could have just asked nicely." | WORDS: 000 TAGS: @kitty NOTES: /huggles kitty <3 and i'm sorry about luke, lacie- CREDIT: LAIKA OF GS! |

She inwardly flinched as he called her out about knowing the meaning of taking a day off. If it there was one thing she didn't like aside from having nothing to do then it was being called out for moments of vulnerability such as this. Like she needed to be told how to to take a break and understand what it meant! Ha, what a joke! Though what really deepened the frown on her face was the subtle surprise glint in Luke's features that she did know the word and it's meaning. For someone who knew her since they were little kids he sure had a lot of faith in her. Not.“I have never and would ever do any of those things to any of my customers,” she huffed, “I'll have you know that I give nothing less than the best service to the tables I wait on.” He was even there a couple of times to see her in action. She wouldn't miss a single detail on her work station. Despite how much she'd prefer if he didn't come as much as he did - she couldn't refuse any customers, which included him. Much to her dismay. The best solution she always followed down to the fine details when dealing with less than tolerable people was avoid them. Though sometimes she wondered if there was an outside force that liked toying with encounters. This one in particular because of all the places to stumble across the bluenette it had to be here. His last comment had her quiet for a moment or two. She wanted her pictures taken? Goodness gracious, no! That was far beyond what she wanted. As a matter of fact she wanted to avoid being caught on camera. Lacie was not photogenic in the slightest. “What do you take me for, Luke? Do I look that conceited that I would ask for my pictures taken?” The only person who was even worth capturing on camera was one of her flatmates, Konrad, but that's because he's an actual model. A male model at that too. They're far more rare in commidity than women any day and for good reasons too. She shook her head quickly. “You know what? Never mind. Just delete that picture you took of me, please. That must be horrible.”TAG: LUKE SONOTES: /holds Snow <333 LOL, it's k. he's right

"So I see," was his vague response to her words of defense. Was he being sarcastic or was he acknowledging and agreeing with her words? Nah, he knew that she did work hard and if there was some one to make a mistake and get themselves kicked out to be put on break then it was Aralynn, not the redhead in front of him. Though she can interpret his words that was said in an indifferent tone of voice anyway she wanted to.
He merely shrugged at her question of if she looked like someone who was conceited. Girl's normally liked to have their pictures taken, didn't they? Conceited or not. Though he did find it annoying when some bold girl decides to purposely jump in front of his camera when he was obviously not trying to shoot a picture of her, but rather of the scenery behind her. But as for Lacie's question, no, she was not a conceited one. But since when did his words and actions ever follow what was on his mind?
A glance down at the camera in his hands as his finger moved to press a button that summoned the just taken photo onto the screen. It didn't look half bad - the scene of the beach with her off to the side, wind blowing through her red locks. "No, I'm not deleting it." It was his picture after all. And it looked nice. But he wasn't telling her that. | WORDS: 000 TAGS: @kitty NOTES: wow, i gave you nothing orz CREDIT: LAIKA OF GS! |

“Are you serious?” It seemed so. Wow, she honestly thought that he had more taste than that. Lacie couldn't imagine any photo with her in it being anything worth seeing. At all. Here she was thinking that he was professional with his passion. “I don't know what you see but that's still a bad photo and you should get rid of it. Seems like I'm not the only one off of their game.” The sound of laughing girls was caught in her ears. She turned to the corner of her eye to see two girls passing by. Slim, slender forms racing off to the waters. Those were the type of girls who should have their pictures taken. Anyone except her. What was it like to smile so naturally racing out to the waters were a mouthful of that could make anyone gag? Though the stinging salty sea waves didn't bother them in the slightest. She didn't have time for these things. Or well, she used to not have time for this! She would rather be working to earn enough money first. Maybe then she may consider getting a new bathing suit for the beach. “Fine, you can keep that picture,” she sighed, “but don't you dare publish it. I'm serious, Luke.” If she somehow finds that she sees her face on something - be it a magazine or anywhere on the internet then she would be highly upset with him. “I think coming here would've been better if I asked the guys back in the flat if they wanted to come out.” At least in a big group such as the guys - plus Luke - it may have been chaotic but at least she wouldn't have to worry if Axel would get upset about her being alone with another male. “Actually, never mind. Axel's so lazy to come to the beach. That or he'd insist on me to keep my pullover on.” Because showing off skin at a beach was such a magnet for guys to check her out. Ha. Like she's had that problem before. Not when she lived with a large group consisting of nothing but men. TAG: LUKE SONOTES: Plenty for me to work with. *huggles*

"Since when did you become so judging?" He didn't understand what was the big deal. She didn't really strike him as one of those girls in his class that took the same picture over and over again for hundreds of time because "my face is too big from this angle" "my eyes look weird" "no wait, my hair is messed up" etc. etc. He wanted nothing more than to tell them to stop because no matter how many pictures they take it's going to come out looking bad anyways because they weren't good looking to begin with.
He actually did. Once. And had to dash away from a harmony of high pitched screams and hands that wanted to slap him in the face. The opposite gender were indeed strange, confusing and sometimes deadly. And people were telling him that he would never find a girl with his attitude. Well, he was fine being alone if these are the type of girls he had to choose from.
Laughter sounded nearby and he turned to see two girls racing into the ocean waters. A new scene to capture. But when his hands moved to his camera, he noticed that Lacie too, was looking at those girls. The look in her eyes made something click for him. And he thought that maybe he finally understood what the deal was.
Her eyes traveled back to him as quickly as they had traveled away.
"It almost seems as if you're daring me to do it," he remarked. "But fine. I won't publish this one. There are other pictures of you that I could publish anyways." He knew her since they were elementary school kids. He touched his first camera at the age of twelve. Now they were seventeen and eighteen. How many pictures of her did she think he had?
"Quite a protective brother isn't he?" Too protective. "It's been years since we've met and I still find my life in danger whenever he's around." Something tells him that his life was at risk even more now than it was back then with both he and Lacie being quite a number of years into their teenage years already; a time when those kinds of things starts to bloom. He blamed those other kids and their teasing since they were little and Axel for being stupid enough to not be able to differentiate between playful teasing and something more serious.
Not that his friendship with Lacie was the only thing that Axel hates him for. Luke himself wasn't really helping to stretch the length of his own life by sitting around in the place the older male worked at and making things difficult for the guy. He didn't really have anything against Axel, but he might as well repay the guy's hatred of him with something as equally if not more annoying.
The laughter of the girls still sounded in the background. He turned to them, watching them continue their play in the water before turning his attention back to the girl in front of him. Lacie was a little bit of a judgmental person. Only because she expected nothing but the best– especially when it geared towards something someone is passionate in. Luke could do so much better than taking pictures of her. There was nothing interesting about her appearance whatsoever. Besides, it wasn’t like she was expecting to find a date anytime soon. There was a time and place for everything. A boyfriend wasn't something she needed at the moment. She already lived with a group of guys who were all handful. Not to mention she had standards that had to be considered as well when looking for a candidate for the boyfriend title. “That makes you sound like some creepy stalker,” she pointed out. “You're lucky we've known each other since we were kids. Otherwise, I could press charges for identity exploitation.” It’s been quite some time since she saw him pick up his very first camera. So long that she forgotten what model he got when he started or the other models of cameras he went through during his practice in photography. The eighteen year old pony-tailed lass pretty much considered it like an extension of his body. She never saw him without it in his hands. “Still, you've got quite the portfolio of pictures, don't you?”Overly protective twin brother didn’t even begin to express Axel's behavior when just the very mention of another guy comes into the conversation. She didn’t look the slightest bit surprise when she heard the bluenette mention that he still feels like his life was in danger around her brother. A wry smile graced her lips. “Figures the one thing he’s actually responsible in is the thing that could get him into trouble.” Though, she knew... well, deep down somewhere in that lazy exterior, he meant well. Or at least she hoped he did. She looked back at the same time as Luke did when the giggling girls could be heard playing in the ocean waters. It must’ve been nice to be carefree at the beach like that. Though her attention was quickly turned away from the beach, the girls playing in the salt waters, and the scenery altogether by a sudden question. Blinking, she turned back over to the blue-haired photographer trying to make sure she heard him right. “This Saturday?” she repeated. She pulled out her cell phone before going into her apps – she scrolled through the list to find her work schedule to check her weekend. “It depends. I’ve got a morning shift at work, but I get off at one o’ clock. I’ll have the rest of the day off afterwards. Why do you ask?”TAG: LUKE SONOTES: Hmm. Nope~ They has potential for shipping. :3

"You were perfectly aware of me being around either before or right after the pictures. Last time I checked stalkers don't let their victims know they're stalking them," he pointed out. Just because he was took photos of scenery and people with many of them being candid shots, he was not in any ways a stalker. Anyone who thought otherwise deserved a glare and a lecture.
A short, almost inaudible dry laugh was let out at her next comment. "It would seem that most of my friends are out to get me and childhood history is the only thing keeping them from murdering me in my sleep." That apparently was about right with people such as Reno and Julian. The only person who probably wouldn't do anything to him even if they met later was Killian. That super friendly, super annoying, super stupid golden retriever.
"Let's just hope he doesn't pick a fight with the wrong kinds of people. Or hopefully those kinds of people would stay away from you," he said, once the topic shifted to Lacie's overprotective older brother. He could understand why Axel was so protective. Luke himself had a little sister. Though, he wouldn't have to worry about her boy issues until many years down the road seeing as she was just a six year old. Girls and boys her age still ran around screaming about the other gender having cooties.
"Meet me downtown at the park sometime before two then. I'll be hanging around there ahead of time so just call me whenever you get there," he told her. "Don't ask questions. Just come," he added before she questioned his intentions. It was because he knew that she wouldn't come if he were to tell her what he had in mind. "Oh and if you don't show up then this picture is going in a tourism magazine. Either that or up on their website."
With that said, he turned around around and started walking away, hoping that she would just do what he said and not make a big fuss that would lead to him turning back around. He need to take more pictures of the beach before heading back home and hanging around her wasn't going to make him productive in the slightest bit. | WORDS: 000 TAGS: @kitty NOTES: should we wrap it up with your post and go on to another thread? and yeah, he has a little sister. the things i forgot to mention in his app orz CREDIT: LAIKA OF GS! |

Touché. Either way, the point of the conversation was taking pictures unexpectedly before or after she was aware of the camera was uncomfortable. It's hard to look natural when there's a camera lens staring at her face. She's tried taking pictures of herself with her phone as well so she knew just how awkward she must've looked. Her smile is all wonky, and her face didn't scream confidence in her complexion. Put her in a waitress apron, with a notepad in her hands, or a server's tray then she'll be in the zone. Ready to work and please the guests who come into the restaurant. It was easier than staring in front of a camera. “If it helps, I don't hate you to that point yet. Though that's subject to change though depending on what you do in the future.” Despite living in a flat with a group of men, she still doesn't understand a lick worth of how a man's brain ticks. Luke was no exception either. Especially with the type of friends that mix together with their attitudes. How they've managed not to kill each other up to this point is still a god-send to the red-haired younger Jones twin. She nodded her head in agreement with his statement. Lacie trusted that Axel had fairly good judgement when it came to waging who was worth picking fights with. Hopefully, he wouldn't have to fight on her behalf either. If she had to pick the lesser of two evils then it would be that he stayed lazy rather than get hurt by someone who could really do damage to him. “Wha-what?” she staggered her question. “Just a second, Luke!” Before she could begin stringing along her interrogation for this meeting downtown at the park, he spoke over her. Her eyes widened at the mention of her photo going in a tourism magazine or on a website. Dear god, she didn't want to call him out on a bluff but the urge to take that camera to delete the photo was very high. Unfortunately, she didn't even get the chance to even do that as the bluenette took off. “I hate you, Luke...”She collected her things before checking the time. It certainly flew by as it was time for her to hit up the grocery store to start making dinner for the boys. A sigh escaped her lips making a mental note to text Luke later. For specifics as to where exactly in the park to meet up, and what did he have in stored. That was what worried her the most. Not knowing what the robin's egg blue haired boy was plotting. TAG: LUKE SONOTES: Yup! Consider this thread done. ^w^b
