| dollar signs and crimson hair | Taking breaks was easily the best part of his day, hands down. He wasn't a man who was made to work, though if he had to have a job he'd rather it be one of those cushy office jobs where you got paid a whole load of money for doing absolutely nothing. Except with those jobs you generally needed to have gone through the schooling system and since he had no current desire to go back to class any time soon, he guessed he had no other choice but to slug it out in the world of customer service! Still he got paid and it wasn't like the job was exactly hard, still with the frequent breaks he claimed for smoking and everything else, it would be assumed he actually worked hard for them.
Cigarette hanging from his lips, the redhead quickly paced along the street, destination in mind so he could get there before the journey ate too much time into the precious minutes before someone realized he was missing. Luckily for him the bakery wasn't too far away, which meant that it wouldn't take long before he was hanging out with Hunter! She was the only one of his friends that worked anywhere near him, which automatically meant that she was his first point of call for when he wanted to hang out with someone during work hours!
Taking the cigarette out of his mouth, not wanting to waft smoke into the bakery, the redhead stuck his head around the door, glancing around for his 'target'. "Hunter!" the redhead called out, offering a wave with his unoccupied hand, flashing her a smile. "You're about due for a break now, right? Lunch on me?"

The bakery this morning smells like cupcakes.
Hunter always had loved the smell of the bakery, it smelled like her house when she was left alone for far too long. Usually by the time the weekend was over her little modest apartment building was overflowing with sweets, and Hunter never did find it possible for her to finish them in one go. Especially when she could just as easily make more for herself - so she liked to hand them out instead! As an added bonus, people usually really liked baked goods, so it was a win-win situation in the end anyway. But man, the bakery smelled as good as ever, as she opened the door with the bell ringing to signify that she had arrived. Bright grin on her face, Hunter had set her things down next to where she usually worked - at the cashier - and did what she did best: greeting people, wearing a smile, and handing change back. Eventually, it ticked closer and closer to her break time, and out of the corner of her eye she saw a head of red hair start down the street. The odd color had caught her eye, compared to the blondes, browns, and blacks of the street he really did stand out. But when the familiar head peeked into the door, Hunter greeted him with a brighter smile than ever. "Axel!"
With a quick nod, she had grabbed her bag and was reaching him out to drag him out the door along with her. "Where do you want to go?"@axel sorry that it's kind of late. i forgot about this tbh. ;;

| dollar signs and crimson hair | Oh good, she noticed him staight away ... as much as he loved Hunter, he really didn't want to have to stub out his cigarette to come in and get her. And an endless amount of cigarettes was not something he had the money to supply when he was living in a place where he had to pay rent, with his housemates making it very apparent that they didn't appreciate his little habit.
Doing the gentlemanly thing and offering the lady his arm so they could link, Axel hummed slightly trying to think of a destination where they could go. Couldn't be too far at least because they mother had to go to work again in a little while and he didn't want it to be too expensive, lets face it, he was pretty much broke.
"There's a new cafe that opened up down the road, wanna check it out with me?" Axel replied with a grin. Honestly, he couldn't think of anywhere else and food just sounded good right now.

The first thing Hunter noticed was that he was smoking, which was one of her less liked habits of his, but she didn't let it bother her. But at the same time, it wasn't any of her concern of what he did in his free time, and so Hunter brushed it off with a grin as she looped her arm through his. She half-hoped they'd eat somewhere cheaper, if only because she knew that Axel wasn't too fond of letting her pay and it didn't help that she knew the both of them weren't too rich. "The cute one down the street? I say sure." Her grin grew, casting a sideways glance up at him. "How was work at the coffee shop?" A chuckle, she knew he didn't really like the place, but it was nice that it wasn't too far away like some of his other jobs. This way, they could meet up for lunch on their breaks! It seemed worth it to her in the end, but then again she loved her job. @axel sobjdfksgjkds I LOVE YOU STELLA

| dollar signs and crimson hair | Was it cute? Could you really describe a cafe as cute, he didn't really know. Taking another drag of his cigarette, the redhead nodded in responce. He really didn't mind as long as it was cheap, they didn't really have a lot of money to waste on lavish lunches did they? He just wanted to eat. "Awesome, let's go then!" he replied with a smile.
The moment the talk of the coffee shop came in, Axel dramatically threw his head back and groaned. "I hate it there, I really do! People are so rude and everyone keeps shouting at me, I just want to go home Hunter. I want to quit but the money man, I wish I didn't need the money" Axel complained. Why did money have to buy everything huh? "How's the job on your front? Probably better than mine."

Laughing, Hunter listened to what he was saying they matched their pace. "Don't we all? If we didn't need money, then what would be the point of working?" But, then no one would work and everyone would instead have to farm their own food, dig their own gas to refine and put in their own cars - all that other complicated stuff that Hunter was certain she could never do. At least not on her own. She could make a risotto, not an automobile. "I think you know the answer to that. I love my job!" While she wasn't a barista - which was a nasty job, she heard. People always were rude before getting their daily dose of caffeine, it was a fact. "Not everyone is nice, but I serve them with a smile anyway. And then I get to smell what the chef cooks up, and sometimes he lets me have a few treats to take back home." There was one time he let her even cook out back, and that was an adventure of its own. A fairy tale come true. "I think we're almost there."@axel and then i hit a rp slump

| dollar signs and crimson hair | "To provide some joy in our otherwise bleak and disgustingly boring lives?" the redhead countered with a shrug. Not that he'd be despairingly bored if he could just get money without working for it, he could sit and watch the television all day which would be a bonus to serving rude customers who didn't even tip well. Honestly, coffee shops and working in them was nothing like the lie 'friends' had sold him. It wasn't fun and there wasn't that one token group of friends that came in to bitch about their life problems. It was all just one big lie.
"I wish I had your enthusiasm" Axel replied, getting rid of some of the ash from his cigarette as they walked along towards the cafe. Maybe if he had a job that he loved as much as Hunter loved hers then maybe he might just be happy to get up in the morning to go to it ... however until then he was just going to remain the same. Getting dragged out of bed to the same dead beat job every weekday.
"Yeah it's just around the corner!" the barista replied with a grin, running up to the door upon approach, holding it open whilst he dropped his cigarette to the floor and stubbed it out with his foot. "After you dear Hunter!"

She laughed at his response, shaking her head. "If you had my enthusiasm, then I'd be talking to a mirror. I like you how you are." She moved to bump his shoulder, with a little more force than usual and the hopes that maybe he'd drop that cigarette. Then again, probably not. He'd stop when she wanted to, and she was going to have to respect that - which wasn't that hard! Maybe. She curtsied, or as best as she could in her jeans, walking in as he held open the door. "Thank you, dear Axel. How about we take a window seat?" She loved to people watch - if it had to have a name, that was what she would have called it, at least. Sitting at a table by the side of a sidewalk, just watching people walk past. @axel SO IM SERIOUS STELLA JUST GIVE ME A SWIFT THWACK IF I KEEP FORGETTING UGH

| dollar signs and crimson hair | That was true, it wouldn't do for all people to be the same. "Yeah, but you love it so much. I wanna find something to be passionate about. Everything just seems like a chore," the redhead admitted with a shrug. He was happier now but ... it was just boring. It wasn't what he thought everything would be like.
"I believe that a window seat would be best on this glorious day!" Axel agreed, moving forward to pull out the chair as a proper gentleman would. "Now what should we have. I'm gonna recommend the chicken club sandwich just because I can actually afford it." Being broke sucked. Cigarettes and TV were just so damn expensive.

Screwing up her face to be that of more concentration, Hunter shot Axel a bright grin as she sat down in the seat he pulled out. "I can give you some tips on how I stay so enthusiastic?" Whether he wanted to hear it or not - she doubted that he wouldn't - Hunter had a feeling that she was going to tell him anyway. "As much as I might dislike a customer, I use the 'kill them with kindness' tactic!" It was a start, though it didn't seem like it would have fit Axel's style. "A chicken club sounds wonderful." Partially because he insisted on buying, and the other partial being because she really didn't want to use that much of his money up. She'd end up feeling guilty. "Always try to smile, too! Like you're with me all the time."@axel ilu stella

| dollar signs and crimson hair | Kill them with kindness eh? He supposed that could work, except he was more a fan of the cutting remarks and dirty glares approach. Why should he be kind when they wanted to be a dickhead? He had a short temper anyway, he supposed he was just lucky he hadn't cussed out a customer yet. "I'd rather spit in their drink to be perfectly honest."
Not that he'd ever done that ... but he had thought about it many times.
"Yeah but you know the main thing is I actually like hanging out with you, rather than suits with a stick up their ass" he replied with a grin. Their workplaces probably had a coffee machine, use that instead rather than being horrible to him because they had to get up early to trade stock or something dumb like that.
