Isaac Kirsch was born and raised in the Bronx, where his father and mother owned a pawn shop. Brought up as a Conservative Jew, he spoke Yiddish, attended synagogue, and met the high educational standards his parents set. Finishing high school with excellent marks, he attended his undergraduate studies at Fordham University where he majored in economics. His eyes were on law school, and he worked to hard to have much fun. After going out of his way to impress certain alumni, Isaac was accepted into Harvard Law School despite highly proficient (but not genius) exam scores.
Fresh out of law school, he returned to New York City to work as a prosecutor for the NY State, his cases usually regarding financial fraud and extortion. As his talents became recognized, he was pulled briefly into working around more violent crimes such as rape and gang violence. Around that time, he began to develop severe ulcer health problems, and he began looking for opportunities with another employer.
He found a position available at the Nova Athenis firm Markus & Solomon, which was founded by a woman he had impressed while an undergraduate at Fordham. Six years later, he has been promoted to junior partner, specializing in financial law. A fair-minded firm that gives back to the city of Nova Athenis, they hold a reputation of picking up a generous portion of Pro Bono clients who normally cannot afford the services of a quality lawyer.
Overall, Isaac is a man of his ambitions. He seeks to obtain the class and power of a reputable intellectual, as well as the security of a high pay check. His incredible work ethic has defined his self-identity his entire life, and as the middle of his life approaches, so does the looming crisis of regret.
