BLUE LIPS, BLUE VEINS | [attr="class","follwr"]An uneasy fist curled, fingers dug into the palm of her hand, before tapping on the door hesitantly. With her single eye, Yin looked down, trying to find something on the floor that might be interesting to look at until her knock would be answered. Her toes curled inwards when two minutes went past without an answer. It was then her knock became louder and louder, to the point she had to stop because she thought blood was going to come out of her knuckles. Yin yelped, wiping at the point of contact she had with the door with her other hand. It... it wasn't good to dirty her cousin's door, r-right? Cousin Junjie, she wasn't sure if he'd get angry with her... Itching the side of her face with a finger, she took a step back and tried to recall social protocols numerous people tried to teach her. She couldn't remember a single one. JUNJIE ZHANG |

| He didn't want to get up. He just wanted to stay in bed. He had a long night, god he couldn't even remember what happened and his head was killing him. Why the hell was someone banging at his door?
It would go away.
It would go away.
It didn't go away. "Fucking hell, I swear this asshole bangs like a cop." Really, who the hell did that? With that thought Junjie was really in no hurry to get to his door. He pulled himself out of bed, not bothering to mess with his bedhead, pulled on a pair of pants, and stuck on his slippers. Finally, he made his way through the hallway to the door and opened it.
It wasn't a cop, but it did explain the horrid loud banging, it was Fangyin. "Yo."

BLUE LIPS, BLUE VEINS | [attr="class","follwr"]It was her usual position; head dipped low, hands in front of her face but not actively covering or touching her face, just trembling. Her bottom lip wibbled, finally finding the courage to move her hands away from her face slowly to take a look at the cousin she hadn't seen for such a long time. "C-Cousin Junjie." She spoke hesitantly with her eyes still afraid of his appearance. Her Chinese was faltering, even though Yin's fluency was a given. "It's... good to see you. How long... how... are you?" | Here we go again. It wasn't like Junjie didn't enjoy her company, it was just the way she talked that got on his nerves. It wasn't her fault, maybe it ran in their direct family line? Her brother wasn't all that smooth either. They needed a speech tutor, but whatever.
"Hello Fangyin," though perhaps it was that whole speech thing that made Junjie to view her as 'cute.' "It's been awhile." He didn't even really remember the last time he saw her. "I'm good a little tired, but good. How are you?"
"Come in, kitchen is to the right."

BLUE LIPS, BLUE VEINS | [attr="class","follwr"]Fangyin tried to relax her breathing, trying to imagine a blank white sheet of paper instead of Cousin Junjie's terrifying looks when he was younger and when they kept regular contact. She swallowed. Nervously. Yet, she still found it in her to bring her hands down to her stomach and clench them together, eyes looking nearly into the older's. "I hope you feel better soon, Cousin." Yin nodded, but it was more for herself than for him. "I am... okay." She nodded again. "Um... okay." Taking brave steps that started slow but increased in speed, she walked into Cousin Junjie's place. JUNJIE ZHANG |

| "Thanks." He wasn't really feeling all that bad to begin with. Fangyin made it sound like he was near death or something. A good night's rest would fix it, and he would have been able to rest if it weren't for her interruption.
"That's good. So what brings you here?" Not like Junjie was really all that concerned about it, it was small talk something that came easy to Jun.
He closed the door behind her, and walked into his kitchen. "Would you care for some tea?"

"I would like that." She lingered around the door still, walking tiny steps up and down. "I... wanted to see if... you...are okay." Fangyin responded numbly. She stared at her feet, wondering what she was trying to achieve. Maybe it was better to just turn around, open the door, and go. She felt so uncomfortable here. JUNJIE ZHANG

| He chuckled. "Okay or alive?" It was rhetorical. They were practically the same thing though, if Junjie was alive, he was okay. If he was dead, well, then he wouldn't be okay. He turned on the sink, filled up the kettle, placed it on the stove, and turned it on.
In all honesty, he had no idea how to make tea. He drank coffee, and used instant. "But anyway, thanks." This was a sincere thank you. It felt nice to see someone cared.
This was awkward. "So, Fangyin, what's the sudden interest?"

At his strange response, Fangyin could only muster a confused expression, the wrinkling of her eyebrows. Okay? Alive? What was the difference? She tilted her head to make her confusion apparent to her cousin. Her cousin was smart, he'd understand her question.
"You're...welcome." She nodded slowly, taking peeks at him while stretching her pale, bony fingers. Her knuckles were a strange bleached white, and she cracked them often; it was a strange gesture from a girl who looked so frail.
"Sudden?" She repeated, unsure. "I hear you come here. To get away. I was here too, to look for brother, so I thought... I would come... and see... you." Yin nodded numbly, afraid to look at him in the eye.

| He shrugged off her confusion, and instead, rested a hand on her head and ruffled her hair. It was normal, simple behavior. It was something that he had happen to him a lot as a child, and it was probably the reason why he had a haircut that fell right in place no matter what.
"That's nice, family pressure a bit too much?" He looked straight at her eyes, unblinking, with a very serious look on his face. "Consider yourself lucky Fangyin, and a word of advice, be careful around your brother and I. We're not exactly the safest people to hang around, understand?" Family trying to kill them and all things considered.

She squeezed her eyes shut at his odd sign of affection; she was aware of what he was doing since he held his arm out, but it was still difficult for Fangyin to fight off her instincts. Anyone who came close to her, other for her brother, who tried to touch her and invade her personal space could lead to very difficult circumstances.
"I don't know... what you mean by that." Fangyin took a step back, playing with her fingers. "I don't know what you mean by that, either. I am eighteen. The legal age for many countries. Free to pursue the things I want to do."
"And besides," She whispered, dipping her head to avoid Junjie's gaze. "I can't live without brother. I don't mind dying if it's for brother."

There were things that Junjie didn't like to explain in this world, and this could definitely count as one. "I'm saying this for your own benefit. Last thing Minzhe," and himself, but he couldn't seem to add that part, "would like is to find you face down in a pool of blood. Things aren't exactly the same around here, it's just me, Minzhe, and Peng and our reach doesn't go the same as it once did."
"No one can keep an eye on you really with our numbers right now." Some triad members had their family, and even themselves guarded. "Soon enough your brother and I are gonna get into some trouble."
"Have you ever thought of just blending in Fangyin? Your type of dress kinda, sets you apart from other girls. Which, well, if isn't a terrible thing except right now. Right now, you should look like every other girl." Be stylish.

She nearly cut him off, but she still had enough respect for her older cousin not to do such a thing.
"And I don't want to ever see brother... Cousin Junjie or Cousin Peng in a pool of blood. Don't talk to me like I'm incapable." Fangyin looked down after she said that, playing with her fingers - oh, she'd been rude! Oh dear! She licked her dry lips in nerves - she always got like this when grim topics came up. Fangyin never learnt.
At the last bit, Fangyin widened her eyes, completely shocked, now looking straight at Junjie. Dress? Blending in? Wasn't... she?
"I'm... not?" She said a little sadly, frowning. "I thought... thought... What should I do?" She added the last part as a near silent murmur.

He wasn't wrong. Maybe he did in fact, underestimate Fangyin. He pushed it out of his mind, he was traditional enough to stick to some old beliefs, and one of which was that girls had no place in the organization. His reasoning was not so they could be repressed, but rather, safe. There was nothing sadder than a dead mother or teenage girl, according to the news. "Relax Fangyin, if we play our cards right we're not going anywhere."
He tugged at the fabric on her shoulder, with two fingers, and shook his head. "I'll take you shopping, I've seen enough girls in my life time to hopefully pick you up something you might like and won't make you stand out."
