The circus wasn't haunted, not that he knew of at least, this was more just...practice. Yeah practice, getting used to the dark, getting past closed gates, working efficiently with the tech, that sorta stuff.
He wanted to bring Minnie but she had homework and well...this was one of his first outings, he didn't want to look like an idiot in front of her or anything. Which, the boy grunted as he struggled to climb over the fence, finally crawling over before slipping on his way down and landing on the cold cement with a thud and a yelp, was probably a good idea.
He groaned as he stood up, rubbing the arm on which he fell as he grabbed the gear from his backpack. Night goggles were first, then the recorder went in his pocket where it could be easily accessed, the camera he kept out, holding it up as he began to comb his way through the lot.
It would be a quick trip, he decided as he went deeper and deeper, circle around a bit and leave. Quiet, inconspicuous, just like the things he would hunt.
There was a thud. He jumped with a gasp and whipped his head around. It was a miracle he managed to keep quiet, biting his lip to prevent any excess sound.

"I know it's hard to tell how mixed up you feel"
MADE BY ★MEULK OF GS | It was often that they where awake at the strangest hours of the day, they had been prescribed sleeping pills once, but they had never wanted to take them. Especially because it made that they would have to stop smoking pot and if there was one thing that they absolutely refused to do then it was that. Evren had found their way inside the Circus, just floundering around and lazy gaze sweeping over the canvas and following the grim shapes that the shadows cast. Sometimes they thought they could be in a fantasy of sorts, going on an adventure that would bring them far and wide. Of course once the sun rose again, every fantasy would leave and bring forth the ugly truth once more.
Not that they minded too terrible, they didn't hate their life, far from it even. Although it always could be made better if they had to be honest to themselves. The night had one setback, they couldn't see very well, especially in the deepest of shadows and they found themselves nearly tripping over something. A muffled curse and then they checked themselves for damage, before making sure that the object was alright too. Even managing to give it a pat or two when they did.
Soon they straightened and wondered which direction they should head toward now. Their gaze swept from one side to another, before deciding that it didn't matter either and headed into a random one. Not knowing that they where heading toward Shaun, for who all purposes wasn't supposed to be here. Not that Evren would say anything about that, they usually didn't say a lot if they didn't need to. Unless it was in ASL. They loved to use that, especially because not a lot of people knew how to use it and left them with the ability to insult them in public.
A sudden brightening nearly blinded them and they stopped inhaling, making the cigarette they had clenched between their teeth stop glowing. A faint cough and then they dropped it to the ground, crunching it underneath the heel of their booth and then picking it up again. They wouldn't keep any kind of trash littering around if they could help it! The faintest of sounds had made them alert however and they tried to penetrate the darkness, lips parting as if they wanted nothing more but speak.

He smelled smoke and Shaun stopped in his tracks. Instinctively, he jerked his head back and forth, fighting any urge to cough, he took few nervous steps back, letting his flashlight trail across the area warily, he didn't hear anybody but it was pretty unmistakable.
The figure, seen only through the bright beam of the night-goggles, was large. An unusual pattern was painted on their face. The smell of smoke was heavier and this time the startled Shaun couldn't help but let out some vague hybrid of a cough and a yelp as his camera hand flew upwards, instinctively hiding his face and sending the camera flying backwards where it hit the cement with a most-likely-fatal force.
But Shaun really couldn't think about that right now, couldn't really think anything besides the powerful urge to flee and the equally powerful urge to stay put, frozen and stubborn in front of the frightening figure.
