satsuki felt like death.
she wasn't exactly sure what she had caught (although it just seemed like a common cold) but working at a public school came with its downsides. one of them happened to be the illnesses that floated around the building at times. normally, she didn't succumb to them - her immune system was quite strong and healthy. however, the occasional one managed to slip into her system and render her into a weak and exhausted mess.
she was currently bundled up on her bed, conflicted between tossing off the covers because it was hot as hell or wrapping them around herself because she always grew cold really really fast. sighing in frustration, she laid flat on her back, too tired to turn one way or another, and closed her eyes, hoping that sleeping would help get rid of the cold.

His days spent with Satsuki were unlike ones he'd ever spend before.
Never would he have imagined he'd be walking around barefoot with a decent roof over his head, scratching an itch under his stomach as he trudged over to his teacher's room. He scratched his head, wondering how to proceed; he had called out for her because she wasn't out of her room at the time she usually was.
He knocked at a door briskly.
"Oi, sensei, what you doin' in there? Diarrhea? 'Cause that shit's not funny, you have ta see someone about that." After staggering at his own pathetic joke, and waiting for an answer and not getting one, he decided to barge in anyway. Nakedness be damned.
Only it wasn't the sight of a half naked woman squirming about because she was going to be late, but a sorry sight of a woman stuck in the middle of the bed heavy breathing.
"Oi, oi." Nathan shook his head, arms arched at his hips. He trudged over slowly to her bedside, and pressed his forehead on hers, frowning at the temperature.
"Dude, have you been soaking up rainwater lately? You're as hot as a rabbit in heat!" After a moment's silence, he huffed. It didn't take long for him to give up.
"Just go back to bed. I'll wake you up for breakfast." With that, he turned and walked out of the door, whilst cranking his head trying to think of ways to take care of a sick person.

the sound of a knock cut through the haze that had settled on her mind, and she managed to open her eyes halfway as nathan's voice asked if she was having diarrhea. satsuki inwardly groaned as he entered after a lack of response; she didn't want him to get sick, either.
she shut her eyes as he pressed his forehead to hers, grateful for the fact that her face was already quite flushed from her fever. the memory of the kiss he had sprung on her a week before was still fresh on her mind, and she resisted the urge to squirm under the contact. her heart jumped wildly and she opened her eyes in relief as he leaned away - it wasn't as if she hadn't been kissed before, but those had happened when she had been younger, and never made her feel like she did now.
as nathan left the room, she opened her mouth too late to tell him to leave her be and just go about his business like usual. sighing, she stared up at the ceiling, exhausted. 'i'll tell him when he comes back,' she resolved, and then promptly fell asleep.

He'd spent enough time in her apartment to know where everything was, well, Nathan could be observant if needed be.
He navigated through her kitchen as if on auto pilot, the things he needed to make congee was in place, all the while musing over her ridiculous reaction to him checking her temperature. He didn't want to think about it, but it wasn't the kind of thing he could will away just because he wanted to. She seemed nervous. Maybe a bit scared. Scared? He thought with a slight smile, he supposed that'd be just about right. A nice feeling.
He poured some congee into a bowl, sliced lemon into warm honey water and looked around for a tray. No dice. So instead, spotting the chopping board, he took to washing that and putting everything on there instead.
Holding the 'tray' with one hand, he made his way over to Satsuki's room with a yawn, pushing the door open with his free hand and setting the food on a bedside table. He was just about to order her to sit up so he could feed her, but he forgot a cold flannel. Or some flannel anyway.
"How are you feeling?" He asked with a strange ounce of kindness. "Cold? Hot?"

satsuki didn't want to get up. a dull buzz started up in her ears, and she whined softly, curling up into a small ball while clutching her pillow to her chest. nathan asked how she felt and she just buried her face into the cool fabric of the pillow.
"hot," she mumbled after a moment of silence, not looking at him. there was something important she wanted to tell him, but she couldn't remember what it was? did she leave a load of laundry in the washing machine? was masamune out of his cage?
"why are you doing this?" she asked quietly, finally turning to sit up properly with effort.
