He was shocked to see her again, let alone for a second time. It still surprised him that the woman was around, and always hanging all over Salem no less. That, of course, pissed him off to no end. However this time Salem wasn't around and they were one-on-one at a party.
"Tell me again why you're back?" He asked, looking down into his glass, swirling its contents around lazily. The only real reason he cared at all about her was the fact that she seemed to pop up out of nowhere. That and he wanted to keep an eye on her. He did that with everyone he knew of who wanted to latch onto Salem. At least, he kept them in the back of his mind. A mental note of sorts and now Kyra was on that list.

It was a nice party until she noticed Lance. He was Salem's friend or band mate or something - she didn't really care - but most of all he was an annoyance. For some reason he thought he could just come up and start talking to her even though they were barely even acquaintances, as far as she was concerned. "I came here for Salem," she said coolly, taking a careful sip of the drink in her hand. She didn't want to spill, and as she was dressed to the nines with long nails and spindly heels, spillage was highly likely. "But I don't really think that's any of your business is it...er, Chance, was it?" she cooed, looking up at him through thick false eyelashes. She knew his name, of course, but she wanted to knock him down a few pegs. LANCE DAVIDSON

He let out a chuckle at her attempt at dissing him. Instead of getting offended, Lance took a drink from his cup. "And why is it none of my business? I associate myself with Salem..." His eyebrow quirked up at her statement.
He didn't really like her all that much. Not the way she presented herself, the sense of airs she put on just from the way she held her glass... It irked him. But most of all, it was her voice. The way she cooed, acting coy. "You know my name," he replied, looking unmoved.
Lance couldn't remember the reason why she and Salem broke up in the first place, "So why aren't you and Salem a thing?" He just had to ask. It was a battle of insults, apparently.

She could have laughed. This guy was so entitled. Just because he was friends with Salem suddenly meant he had to know about all of the guy's private affairs? That was a bit creepy. Her sneer told all as she looked back at him with a narrow-eyed glare, glittery eyeshadow sparkling in the low lighting of the room. "I don't care who you associate with," she replied, voice smooth yet holding back a fury. "It's my business and Salem's business and definitely not your business, so why don't you fuck off and find someone else to bother?" But it looked like he wasn't done pestering her yet. With his last question her eyes were alight, though she tried not to give him the satisfaction of knowing she was getting angrier and more aggravated by his proximity, by his sheer existence. "The media has a red-hot glare," she said. "It's hard to keep things together when you've got eyes on you everywhere. Nova Athenis is quiet and peaceful in that regard so we can continue our relationship here in peace, like it was meant to be." She was lying through her teeth, but she flashed him a snarky smile on her painted lips that she hoped would anger him even further. LANCE DAVIDSON

His eyebrow quirked at that last statement and he could laugh out at her, but he didn't. He kept his facial expression as still as ever. She was pursuing Salem. He hadn't seen her in years and she popped up out of nowhere to follow him to Nova? "Why didn't he mention you before, then? Or bring you along if you were so important?" Lance went on, taking a sip from his glass afterwards. "It's creepy to stalk people, you know."
He did laugh a bit at that, amused at this girl's persistence. "Were you clingy? Is that why he left you? I don't blame him, especially if you go as far as following him to this little island."
Like it was meant to be? That was funny, yet at the same time it made his blood boil.

She really didn't want to fight, not right now, but it seemed like her urges were going to get the best of her. Kyra hated no one more than Lance in this moment. She'd never liked him but this was just putting the icing on the cake, for her. A cake made out of dog shit and mud, that was for sure. "Maybe it's because you're not as important as you think you are to him, hm?" she asked with a quirked brow, voice dripping with venom. "You left the band and he didn't stay back for you. He went with the band. It should be obvious where you lie." Her fingers tightened around the glass she held, talon-like nails digging into her own skin. Oh, how she longed to slap him, scratch him, make him hurt and make him bleed. But she wouldn't, at least not yet. She wanted publicity and she was desperate for it, but she didn't want that publicity to come out as mug shots. LANCE DAVIDSON

Lance let out a laugh. "Ahh yes, the old 'bring up the past to reopen wounds' trick." He leaned forward a bit and tilted his glass towards her, raising his eyebrows. "Let me assure you that doesn't bother me anymore and I've actually discussed it with Salem, himself! Funny thing how talking through things works, isn't it?" He asked with a smile.
"Not to mention... I could't help it if I wasn't in it for the fame. I just wanted my music to be heard and those bastards wanted to change my sound. I couldn't put up with that," he continued on, taking a sip from his drink afterwards. "Are you telling me you wouldn't do the same?"
He conveniently left out the part where he regretted hurting Salem like he did. He never meant for that to happen and that wasn't necessary to the conversation anyway.

And there he went with his self-righteous, pretentious bullshit. The way that he leaned forward and talked down to her as if she was stupid made her even angrier, and her fingers clenched her glass to keep herself from tossing it in his face. If it was some cheap grocery store wine, she'd gladly throw the whole bottle at him (still in the bottle, of course) but since this was an expensive drink, she didn't want to waste it on a prick like him. "It's really funny how you expect me to care about this. I could care less if you were 'in it for the music' or in it because you wanted to ride Salem's dick. Oh, wait, it wasn't both?" she asked with a sneer, eyes narrowed to daggers. If looks could kill, Lance would've been dead five times over by now. Lance's eyes widened at that last bit, not expecting her to say something like that, though he really should've seen it coming.
Without thinking, he reached out and slapped her right across the face, hard enough to make his palm and fingertips sting and jerk the girl's head to the side. No doubt a mark would be left behind. "How dare you..." he whispered, his grip on his glass so strong it was a mystery how the crystal didn't crack and break in his hand. The sound of the pop where his hand met with her face still rung in his ears as he stared down at her.
How'd she know about that part of his and Salem's relationship? Surely it wasn't that obvious, was it? He'd never told anybody about it... Did Salem?
No, he wouldn't do that... It would've... made him look bad, right?

Honestly, Kyra had said that just to rile him up. While she had inklings that something had gone on between them, Salem hadn't said anything and she didn't hear anything from the grapevine...but the hand that swiftly smacked her across the face seemed to confirm that what she said was truth. What was more pressing was the fact that Lance just slapped her across the face. Her cheek was stinging but she didn't care; her eyes had narrowed into slits and with a balled up fist she swung at him, punching him with all the strength she could muster right in the nose - and a girl growing up on a Texas farm learned how to throw quite a punch. "You little fuck!" she hissed at him, preparing for another blow and to defend if necessary. She didn't want to get into a fight tonight, but all press was good press, and she knew this was going to end up in the papers tomorrow. LANCE DAVIDSON

The punch made contact with his face and he flung his head to the side, moving a hand to his nose. Blood. It dripped down along his face, trailed to his lip, and he licked at it as he looked down at his hand to inspect the warmth.
That made him all the more upset.
He wiped the blood off onto his pants, then grabbed Kyra by the wrists, pushing her back until she met a wall. "Fuck you, bitch," he growled, shoving her hard against the plaster. "Who the fuck do you think you are, huh? Coming in here and talking down to me like you own the god damned world?" He laughed in her face. "If you broke my nose, I'll sue."
