The school hallways were decorated with a variety of colorful posters advertising the upcoming dance. They were everywhere: in the bathroom stalls, plastered on lockers, hanging in every hallway... Not to mention the booth that had been set up in the cafeteria for selling tickets. No matter what part of the school she went to, Cora couldn't avoid the constant reminders of the upcoming event, whether she wanted to or not.
It was kind of silly for her to be afraid of something so trivial. The girl had stood up to and dealt with people twice her size without flinching multiple times in the past, but when it came to asking a boy out to a dance, well... She was still a teenage girl after all.
Glancing down the hallway, the frilly-clad girl spotted the boy in question. She took a deep breath and steeled herself, though inside she was absolutely terrified. How was it that just the idea of talking to him shook her so badly and made her cower away most of the time? Each step she took toward him made her heart beat faster, and when she finally reached him, she was so sure he could hear how loudly it was hammering against her ribcage.
“Hello, Alois,” Cora said, trying to sound bright and cheery, though her voice shook a little bit when she spoke.
