| | | here i am a rabbit-hearted girl frozen in headlights it seems i've made the final sacrifice | It had been a very, very busy week for poor Maribelle. The cafe had been swamped with customers, which kept the waitress on her feet almost all day every day, and now that the weekend had come and she finally had a day off, the redhead planned on spending her time -- and, of course, hard-earned money -- out in town. Thankfully she was so used to working at the cafe by now, that she was no longer too tired out after busy weeks like this one to turn around and spend the day out shopping so soon.
Maribelle had fallen asleep almost as soon as her head touched the pillow the night before, so she was already pretty well rested by the time her alarm went off in the early morning. She went about her morning routine: choking down coffee (even with all the stuff she put in it, it still tasted nasty, but that's what adults drank, right?) and getting dressed before carefully doing her hair and makeup.
Of course, Maribelle couldn't really dress up all that much at work, so on the weekends she tended to go all out. Today she picked out one of her favorite casual dresses and carefully brushed and styled her hair so it was perfectly smooth, typing it up in her usual favorite blue ribbon. Her makeup was still on the subtle side, but a little less plain that her everyday look, and after a couple hours of carefully adding the finishing touches, she took a step back to admire herself in the mirror, giving a smirk of satisfaction before grabbing her purse and walking out the door.
The day was perfect. There were very few clouds in the sky, which was a rich blue by now as the sun steadily rose higher, warming the island below it. A light, but steady breeze kept it from getting too hot, and gently blew Maribelle's ginger strands from her face. She smiled, basking in the warmth as she put on her sunglasses to shield her blue eyes from the bright sun before walking over to a light blue bike with floral designs all over it, dumping her purse in the white basket attached to the front of the handlebars. It was the perfect day to go on a bike ride and enjoy the sights, and she didn't plan on buying a lot, so the bike was a perfect choice for the day.
Quickly steadying herself on the two tires, Maribelle kicked off, pedaling away from the small apartment complex where she lived. The journey to the shopping district didn't take her too long, though she mostly coasted on her way there, in no real hurry. Really, on such a beautiful day such as this, she almost didn't want to go inside to go shopping. (Almost. Maribelle wouldn't pass up a chance to shop for the world.) It was so nice, in fact, she couldn't help but start to space out as she rode down the familiar route into town.
Maribelle had zoned out so much, in fact, she didn't notice that there was a person standing in her path until it was too late. Quickly snapping back down to earth, her hands squeezed the brakes with all her might, causing the wheels to squeal loudly as she desperately tried to slow down in time.
"Ahhh,watch out!!"

Jace wasn’t really sure why he was in the shopping district. He wasn’t some girl, he didn’t drag his friends and their credit cards here to spend every penny on dresses and makeup. His mom had dragged him on enough shopping trips as a kid and he was done with that, thank you very much.
Still, he found himself here on this afternoon. He’d been zoning out, because his phone buzzed in his pocket and he took it out to read the text from his friend. In doing so, he’d stopped and someone of a bike crashed into him. His phone was knocked out of his hand, screen cracked on the cement. He righted himself and picked up the thing, held it and glared at the girl who had knocked into him. ”Watch it.” He said sharply, holding up his phone, knowing his parents would just buy him a new one. ”You broke my fucking phone.”

| | | here i am a rabbit-hearted girl frozen in headlights it seems i've made the final sacrifice | It was too late to stop completely, but Maribelle had slowed down enough to steer her bike just enough to completely avoid running the poor guy over. However, she still ended up smacking into him with her body, sending both of them tumbling painfully to the ground.
The redhead pushed herself up off the ground, groaning a little in pain. She had thrown her hands out in front of her as she fell against the rough concrete, so she managed to avoid being really hurt, but her palms still stung. The girl turned them over and glanced at them to assess the damage, which thankfully wasn't too bad. She was about to turn and apologize to the boy she had almost run over when he spoke up. Her blue eyes narrowed into a glare, all thoughts of apologies gone as she stood up.
"Maybe you should've been paying attention to where you were going instead of looking at your phone!" she snapped, turning to pick up her bike. Thankfully that was totally unharmed.

Jace rolled his eyes. Stupid girls, he thought. He wasn't in the mood to deal with them, and this redhead priss was no exception. "You were the one riding the bike." He accused, narrowing his eyes right back at her. "I was just minding my own buisness - you crashed into me." In all honesty, he didn't care who had crashed into who, but the whole incident had put him in an argumentative mood and this girl was the closest thing to let his anger out on.
He looked once more at his cracked phone, ran his sleeve over the glass top to get the shards off. "I should make you buy me a new one." He hissed, just to provoke the girl.

| | | here i am a rabbit-hearted girl frozen in headlights it seems i've made the final sacrifice | The absolute nerve of this guy! Maribelle was ready to smack him, but she held herself back, knowing that lashing out like that was likely to get her nowhere. Still, she was going to give him a good verbal lashing at the very least for accusing her for causing this accident when he so plainly stepped in front of her bike.
"Excuse me," the redhead snapped, "but I had absolutely no problems until you stood right in front of my path. Like I said, you should've been paying attention instead of texting away on your phone!"
She let out a hmph and put her free hand on her hip, the other holding onto her bike's handlebars to keep it upright. This little brat was definitely ruining her day.
"And since it was undoubtedly your fault," she continued, "you should just go buy yourself a new phone! Geez, shouldn't a little kid like you know how to treat an adult with respect?"
She could hardly be called an adult, but Marie figured that being over the age of eighteen qualified her enough to play that card.

Jace snorted. Respect was something he didn't have the room to nurture, let alone hand out like free candy. He looked evenly at the girl while he shook shards off his sleeve. "Adult? You look like a regular, dumb high schooler to me." Nevermind that he was one, but she didn't need to know that.
He tucked his phone carefully in his pocket and crossed his arms, looked her up and down as if to put his point in stone.

Maribelle could feel her face heating up. Did he just call her dumb? And a high schooler? Her fists clenched tightly at her sides, and she really had to keep herself from smacking that look right off of his face. Did this kid’s parents not teach him any manners whatsoever? She figured it was up to her to set him straight, possibly with some violence if it came to that.
“Excuse me?!” the redhead cried out, causing more passersby to glance in their direction. “I am not a ‘dumb high schooler. I’m a grown woman! And you hardly have any room to talk about me looking young. You barely look like you’re finished potty training yourself!”
Maribelle was letting her anger get the best of her, but at this point she didn’t care. Someone had to teach this kid some damn respect. | prima donna girl ♡ all i ever wanted was the world @jace |

"You're making a scene." He said once the redhead was done. Though Jace cared little what random passerby thought of the whole ordeal, he didn't want this chick to start screaming something that would suddenly make him look like the bad guy. The last thing that he wanted was someone calling the cops because she had bumped into him.
"What does it even matter, anyway? Just admit it's your fault and I might not send you the bill for my phone." He shrugged. "Might."

The absolute nerve of this guy! Maribelle was trying really hard to control her anger, but with each word he said she could feel it rising. Honestly she was holding herself back from giving him a very well-deserved smack across the face. That would solve nothing, though, and probably wouldn't look good on her part if she just hit him (somewhat) unprovoked like that. "I'm not going to admit it's my fault," she snapped back, crossing her arms tightly over her chest. "It was your fault for not paying attention to where you were walking. And I definitely am not paying for your stupid phone! Go make your mommy or daddy buy you a new one." Really, she had no right saying anything about his parents paying for his stuff, but he didn't need to know that. | prima donna girl ♡ all i ever wanted was the world @jace |
