CORRIGAN, DEVIN M.

- devin has a younger brother, seth. they were abandoned when they were young, when devin was eight and seth two on the side of the road. the memory was so traumatic for him he intentionally blocks it out, although it's very difficult to, almost impossible, memories of the snow and his brother's gloved hand holding onto him in confusion.

- he hates their parents but still wants to find them. really want to find them. part of it is to ask why they did what they did, another part is to show them he didn't need them to grow up successful, and the tiny part that he absolutely refuses wants to know if they were still (or ever) loved.

- they were taken in by foster parents, a nice, lovely, typical couple. they were nice, really, and devin had always been rather neutral, bordering like towards them. he was polite and nice, but beyond that, he stuck with his brother. he had friends in school and outside it, but he was distant, no one really knew him or got so close to him, but he was simply pleasant to be around with. the only person he could say he was close to was his brother.

- but when he got lead of his parents being in nova athenis, devin wanted to jump on it, pack their bags and chase after the ghost of their parents but he couldn't. he didn't want to end up on the side of the road starving again. he waited until he was eighteen and legal before he left for nova athenis. he told his brother, of course, and having had little money at the time, was only able to go there alone, telling seth he should focus on his studies first and that big brother will find a way to bring him to nova athenis.

- moving there was tough at first, especially for someone who only finished until high school. but he was smart so he was able to find a job or two. he changed, became more charming, more fake. devin figured he needed to. it was only when he was nineteen (nearing twenty) that he was recruited into being a host. knowing how much they made, devin quickly agreed.

- he learned to be much more charming as a host, quickly becoming popular in the club and the district. devin was a charmer and he had a special gift of knowing what his client wanted. he was good at that, and he was quick to adapt to whatever situation he was in. truthfully, he enjoyed his work, meeting people, finding out just how much he could tolerate, but it became more exciting when someone came to him asking him for information. devin's line of work made it easy for him to coax information from his clients - and a lot of them were quite the wealthy ones. some he didn't even have to prompt. devin didn't quite know why they choose to spill such things to him, but they did - perhaps he was more trustworthy than he thought.

- but when seth came to nova athenis a few years later, devin became much more careful. he loved his brother dearly but he didn't want him to find out what exactly he'd been doing. thankfully, seth never asked (that was also why he loved his brother). devin tries to keep the sweet gentle brother he'd been when he was still living with them, trying hard to keep his more dirty side a secret.
