Shifting through his second street, Frank's pockets sat comfortably in his pockets, eyes milling around the place, looking for nothing in particular. Burdened by the block preventing him from writing his new song, he decided on going on a walk would help ease things. He hadn't the money to spend on needless pretty poppets, so waltzing past shop windows was easy. The sun, he imagined, would almost sit right in the middle of the sky by now, midday was coming.
It was then he accidentally shoved into someone, and his eyes widened in surprise, then offering a hand to her.
"Hey, I'm sorry, I uh, wasn't paying attention." He knelt to her level and looked at her, not quite sure what to do.
"Are you okay?"
@shani / yeah sorry i dunno if u were ok with this but ?? i wanted to start it ?? gomen

Shani had an apartment of her own - nothing impressive, but she liked it, the idea of a place of her own. She had the circus, but that was always moving and shifting. Maybe she liked to travel, but she hadn't gotten much of a taste of the usual, static and unmoving kind of life.
She liked it so far, or maybe the novelty hadn't worn off. Plastic shopping bags in hand, she was heading back with a few ingredients for dinner when she crashed into somebody else. Distracted by something or other happening across the street.
The bags hadn't split when she fell, and Shani raised her eyes to see the man who'd bumped in to her. "Neither was I." She admitted with a laugh, flashing a smile to let him know it was alright. "Yeah, yeah," Shani took his hand and helped herself up. "No harm done." She bent over to pick up the bags, gathering a few things that had tumbled out. She wasn't one to hold grudges or get angry over silly accidents.

Her hand was firm in his, in the way that they worked hard to keep a living. Frank liked her immediately, and saw no harm in conversing more.
First though, he helped her collect the fallen goods, to return to her shopping bags.
"Well I'm glad." He grinned, showing his teeth. "I can be bit of an airhead to be honest. But uh, could I get a coffee for you sometime?" Not that he had much for anything else, to be honest.
"To apologise. Plus a lovely young lady like you deserves free beverages every so often." He winked jokingly.

They unlinked hands, Shani stood up and dusted herself off, glad that he was polite enough to help her with her things. She took them back with a thankful smile, though she was a bit surprised at his offer to get her a coffee.
Shani laughed at the smarmy wink. "Well, I'm not in any rush now." She said with a nonchalant shrug. He seemed nice, and cute, and not at all creepy, so there couldn't be any harm. "I'm Shani, by the way."

He grinned at her acceptance, pleased that his unoriginal line still managed to please. Maybe he still had it. He had never tried with a girl, not before or after Noemi.
"I'm glad you have it in your humble heart to accept my invite," He chuckled wholeheartedly, every beat sincere. She was a dear, he could tell. He even felt a little bit bad. "I'm Frank. Franklin, but obviously Frank is easier. Let me help you with that." With that, he already brushed his fingers against hers, taking a plastic bag from her.
"Let's not wonder too far, hm? I know a nice little place." A nice, little, inexpensive place.
He almost laughed, before he realised he hasn't said anything that should prompt a reaction like that.

He was laying it on thick, but it was in good jest. She felt his hand touched hers again - she felt like a teenage girl again, butterflies in her stomach, and she bit her lip, letting him take the bag with a thankful nod.
"Lead the way, Frank." She said, motioning with her free arm before pushing a bit of hair from her face - she wasn't dressed for anything but a trip to the supermarket.

"Sure thing. Let's go, princess!" He grinned, walking with her side by side to the next street, making sure to be attentive and not let the silence swallow the whole ambience. They eventually made it to a modest little coffee shop in the corner, where Frank gestured to Shani to pick a table. Only three tables were occupied with guests.
"Ladies first." He smiled. "Sit anywhere, I'll follow suit."

She glanced sidelong at him as they walked. She'd settled down here, but hadn't yet explored all the nooks and crannies of the city, the coffee shop one she'd never been to. She liked new things, and this seemed sweet and cozy a place. "So are you from around here?"
Frank seemed like a gentleman, but there was something genuine about it. Shani took up a seat by the window, where she could watch people pass by, though her attention was mostly trained on Frank, folding her arms on the table.

Frank followed suit, all the while thinking how easy this was. Were relationships always this easy? Did Noemi just complicate the equation? Either way, he smiled blandly as if to not give away his train of thought.
"Me?" Was his delayed response, followed by casual laughter. "Oh, no no no. I came here about three years ago, looking for a change of scenery. I'm from France. And you, my dear?"

She had thought she heard an accent outlining his words, and now she could place it.
"I'm not exactly from anywhere..." She said with a grin. Her childhood had been surrounded by an ever changing landscape. "My parents were in the circus, we travelled a lot." Shani watched Frank for a reaction, hopefully not one writing her off as a circus freak.

Frank had always been a 'do first, ask second' kinda guy - it's not served him well most of the time, but he's not got the pleasure of time these days. Time was a trick of the mind.
He reached for her hand and took it in his with a small smile, uncurling it gently. He touches the pads on her fingertips, and they're tough in a way that's softer than his. She doesn't play the guitar every day, after all.
"The circus... well, the circus has given you good hands." Franklin let her go, hand resting on the table now. He smiled lightheartedly - if he stopped smiling, she might've thought something was up. "Man... the circus, huh. You're living the storybook life, aren't you! Good for you! Me, I've never been."
It was then a waitress came over to take orders. Frank went for a cup of black coffee, and the woman smiled knowingly.

He reached for her hands, resting on the table between them, and Shani watched with a faintly bewildered smile as his fingertips pressed against hers. They were rough and hardened, and she could assume why.
Shani laughed. Her childhood had certainly been unusual - the sort of thing most people dreamed of. It had been great and she wouldn't change it for the world, but not perfect. Most people her age wanted to travel, meanwhile Shani was trying to settle down, trying to get a taste of what was normal. Frank seemed normal - and not the dull sort of normal. "It's lots of fun - we have a permanent set up here, you should come down and see sometime." She ordered a coffee as well, though she took hers with sugar and milk.
"So what do you do?"

"Of course I would!" He grinned, now leaning back on his chair, arms on the arm rests. "Gotta make one thing clear though, I get friend's rates, right?" He leaned in jokingly with a sly grin. "I'm kidding of course! But yeah, I've never been, so if there's a chance, be stupid to miss out, am I right?" Frank nodded, as if the only assurance he needed was from himself.
"Me? I'm a poor musician." He paused to drink in her reaction. "I mean... really poor, so do go easy on me please, darling." Frank chuckled at that too - he was the sort of guy to get mixed up in his own jokes, his own pace. But he did like this girl - in a relaxed, casual, non-commitment kind of way.

She drew her hands back into her lap, fingers curling into themselves as if trying to trap his touch to her skin. Shani was friendly - she had always had to be outgoing, to perform, to make friends in new places - but this felt even more natural and intrinsic, talking with him, laughing at him.
"No really, swing by sometime and I'll get you in no charge." She said with a nonchalant wave of a hand, though you could tell the circus was still exciting to her. It was everything to her. "I can show you around the tents and stuff too."
Shani raised a brow, but it wasn't a gesture of judgement. Money didn't matter - her bohemian upbringing had taught her to value other things. Like charm and warmth, and Frank had plenty of both. Resting an elbow on the counter and cupping her chin in her hand, she was interested. "What kind of music?"

"Woah, shit, seriously? Thanks!" Frank grinned, suddenly all cheery with a bit of energy. "That's very kind of you." He cleared his throat as if trying to gain back that tiny bit of adulthood he thought he had. "Though please don't go back on your word, I'll be on my knees begging you to take me in, so I'd rather not go down that route."
He mimicked her actions in a cheeky kind of way, he smiled gently. "Well, I do acoustics, I like alternative rock a lot... I tend to play just me and my guitar, swinging on by life. Good question though," He mused, now waving a hand around. "What music do I play? I dunno."
