the neighborhood in which satsuki resided in was a fairly quiet one, with the occasional car or biker passing by her apartment complex. fights rarely broke out around the building, and the residents of the complex were all very polite and kept mostly to themselves. satsuki herself wasn't much of a talker in the first place, and never struck up conversation with her neighbors apart from a greeting in the morning or evening when they happened to meet. masamune the cockatoo was well-trained as well, rarely causing a racket. with the silent atmosphere that surrounded the complex, it was indeed unusual to the japanese teacher to hear a disturbance outside, screeching and shouting. there was a crash, as well as a cat yowling as it fled into the night, disturbed by whoever crashed into the pile of garbage cans outside of the complex. alarmed, satsuki opened her door and tentatively stepped out to the railing, phone in hand, before peering down into the street below. @nath MARI @ GS!

some coincidences are deliberate @satsuki / this is rly bad im sorry It had been a long, hard night.
It had been raining since four o'clock, and only stopped a little past seven. Nathan had been wondering the streets like a wet moggy, trying to find his way to a home he didn't have. He left a friend's house a little drunk and very unaware of his surroundings, and ending up in a part of town where the buildings looked copied and pasted again and again and again.
It was a rather unfortunate affair. Nathan managed to run into some old faces with some new weaponry. Namely, baseball bats and toned muscles. He didn't even bother to put up much of a fight - dodging fists and flying kicks as much as possible - before he was thrown into a large bin outside a closed restaurant.
He waited from them to leave before he forced himself out little by little with every bit of strength left of his tired muscles. His hair was still a little damp, and he stunk of wet cat, dog, all the rest of it. He grumbled, and fell out of the bin, now trying to drag himself out of the alleyway, wondering where his pride and his blind cheer went to.

a movement out of the corner of her eye made satsuki tilt her head, peering into the darkness in an attempt to catch a glimpse of whatever it was out there that was causing such a racket. briefly she considered retreating back into the safe comfort of her home and leaving whatever was out there to die, but her good conscience wouldn't let her back up an inch unless she intended to go investigate. so that was how satsuki found herself descending the metal staircase that led down to the street, phone in one hand and flashlight clutched tightly in the other. she mentally prepared herself for anything, really, ready to clobber any potential criminal over the head if need be, but that was a lie because nothing prepared her for the sight of nathan saunders lying in the damp alleyway. the student looked like he had been lounging in a dumpster (probably was, too, by the looks of the bin behind him), and satsuki didn't know whether to scream in horror or call the police. she settled for poking him cautiously in the shoulder, crouching down beside him. some coincidences are deliberate @satsuki He ignored the footsteps that were coming his way; he didn't want to think what they might mean. Nevertheless, he continued to drag himself across the floor, whilst thinking of what to do next. Giving himself a bit of a rest would work usually, then he could sit up and sleep.
At the sound of a voice calling his name, he forced himself to look up, only to find himself forcing a laugh.
"Ah, it's sensei." He didn't bother moving now, but he did force himself up so that he'd be sitting instead of lying like roadkill. "I'd rather you go away and leave me alone. It's not your problem." He couldn't bare look at her; Nathan was filled with shame, and half felt like crying.

the clear forcefulness of the laugh made satsuki wince a bit, not finding anything about the situation amusing or laugh-inducing. "no," she said firmly, resting her knees onto the ground when it seemed like she was going to be in the alleyway for a while. her sweatpants were going to get dirty, but there were more pressing matters at hand (she was going to throw them into the wash soon anyway). "you are hurt, and i am not going to turn away from that."she placed a hand on nathan's shoulder and tried to catch his eye. some coincidences are deliberate @satsuki "Tsk, busybody." Was what he said, but he didn't make any move to say he would refuse her help though. Better sleep with a roof over his head than by a dump, that was for sure.
He forced himself to his feet, almost falling forwards, but he held onto the wall for support, and managed, whilst wincing, to stay upright.
"You gotta gimme a hand though, be my walking stick." He smirked at that, looking at her now, albeit reluctantly.

she pointedly ignored his comment and stood up as well, stepping forward to lend him her shoulder when he grabbed at the nearby alley wall for support. "i would prefer a different title than "walking stick", thank you," satsuki replied dryly, sticking her phone in her pocket before taking his hand and shifting his arm around her shoulders. he was taller than her, thankfully, and so it was easy to support him as they slowly emerged from the alleyway. the teacher led them towards the stairs, where she paused to adjust her grip on nathan's hand. "my apartment is on the second level," she informed him quietly. "do you think you can make it up these stairs?" 'not that you really have a choice,' she thought, leading them up anyway. @nath MARI @ GS!

some coincidences are deliberate @satsuki With every step, Nathan winced and tried to stay as quiet as possible, not wanting to offer the Japanese teacher any possible ammunition against him, now he was in a vulnerable state, even though, really he knew he did the right thing by not putting up much of a fight.
"You're already a teacher, what better title do you want?" Nathan snorted, bravado still talking as he began to scale the steps one by one. He near enough ignored her question with this action.
"Might as well get it over and done with." He scoffed, his grip on her shoulder increasing by each step. He was scared, hurt, and in pain; he wasn't about to share his 'feelings' though.

although the grip on her shoulder tightened with each step up the staircase, satsuki pretended not to notice and instead patiently helped her student, keeping her own grasp on him firm as to not let him slip and potentially fall to his death. in nathan's current condition, it could be possible. 'not to mention unpleasant,' she thought, as they finally reached the top step. there was a brief struggle to open her door, but luckily she neglected to lock the door when she went to investigate (a rather poor move on her part, she realized belatedly) and was able to let them in. "don't worry about your shoes," were her only words before leaving nathan on her couch in search of a first aid kit. @nath MARI @ GS!

some coincidences are deliberate @satsuki Her apartment was minimally homely, spacious, and well, ordinary. There was nothing special about it, but Nathan liked it. Well, anything remotely normal appealed to him.
He made an effort to take off his shoes when he was left at her sofa though. The state of his arm wasn't that bad, it was mainly his legs and his body, so it grunted in effort trying to lie himself down with even breaths. Nathan watched the shapeless ceiling, admittedly apprehensive and nervous. His teacher was just being sympathetic, that's all. Just how some people would offer food for a stray cat. That's all. Don't you fucking dare think too much of it.

satsuki had been sure that she had last seen the first aid kit in the kitchen cupboard, but when she reached up and felt around the highest shelf, she only succeeded in disturbing a pile of plastic tupperware containers. they fell to the floor with a loud clatter, and she scrambled to pick them up. "sorry," she said, sticking her head out of the kitchen. "i didn't mean to startle you."the teacher didn't offer any more explanation beyond that, and went in search of the box in her bathroom. she was successful that time, and emerged holding the white case in her hands. "okay," satsuki said, kneeling down beside the couch. "show me where it hurts the most."@nath MARI @ GS!

some coincidences are deliberate @satsuki He jumped at the loud noise, and immediately cranked his head to the direction of where it came from.
"Y'sure you didn't hurt yourself?" Nathan asked, a bit uncharacteristic of his usual attitude. From his position, it was difficult to follow the woman's actions but he tried nevertheless, and looked nervous at the presentation of the white box in her hands when she finally stood in front of him.
"Are you sure you know what you're doing?" The teen narrowed his eyes at the teacher, even though logic was telling him she was probably trained in basic first aid, and it was either that or a trip to the hospital with blinding white doors and a family he didn't want to see.
"Legs. Arms. I don't even know." He placed his arm over his eyes.

"no," satsuki replied flatly, opening the box and revealing its contents to the duo. everything was arranged rather neatly, although there were less bandages than anything else (masamune tended to dig too deeply with his talons sometimes). with a quick glance at nathan, she pulled out a roll of gauze and some disinfectant wipes. "that was a joke," she added, and opened a small packaged wipe. "now take off your shirt," the teacher then instructed without preamble. "i can wash it for you later." nevermind that someone could take that statement horribly out of context. @nath MARI @ GS!

some coincidences are deliberate @satsuki He laughed easily, shakily - at some point it might've been a hearty one, too.
"Didn't realise you were capable of jokes." Although his arm still covered his eyes, he still smiled, laughing with ease, picturing the stoic Japanese teacher from the bits of pieces of memory. He moved it though, and forced himself to sit up, wincing all the way. He tried his best to pull it over his head slowly, bones still groggy. He threw it towards the other end of the room, and slowly lay himself back down.
He turned to look at her, eyes hollow, but innocent, with his arms resting on his stomach. "That alright? But y'know, if you have any ulterior motives feel free to state them now or forever hold your silence. I'm a pretty flexible guy."

satsuki raised an eyebrow at the amount of bruises littering nathan's body. privately, for the first time she wondered if he was being abused at home. pulling the wipe out of the package, she began to clean up the scratches. "i'll just forever hold my silence," she stated flatly, picking up a new disinfectant wipe when the first one became covered in blood. five wipes and six bandages later, she picked up the roll of gauze and began wrapping a particularly damaged-looking arm. "nothing feels broken, does it?" she asked rather belatedly. @nath MARI @ GS!
