Jamie is back to trailing after Harper, though it's harder to follow now, and he's holding Harper's hand like a lifeline while they weave through the crowd.
When they get outside, there's a rush of sensation. First, the chilly night air against his sticky skin. Second, the feeling of falling. He's being pulled down to land in a crumpled heap on top of something softer than concrete and smoother than grass. He lands dizzy, pushing himself up off Harper before he realizes it's Harper.
"Sorry." He lets out a little gasp. "You... okay?" Now he really feels nauseous.

Harper nods with a forced smile, "Yeah I'm cool as a cucumber." That was lame Harper, even for your standards. Where did your standards go? Harper laughs at himself, he never had standards to being with. If you weren't Jamie he didn't care... is that a standard by itself? He's not sure. "Are you okay? You're lookin', like, kinda sick?"JAMIE MARTINELLI

Jamie tries to nod, to look over to make sure Harper is alright, but there are black sparks dancing in the corners of his vision. He can still hear Harper fine, but he can't quite see right, vision tunneling until all he can't see and he can't shake the spots away.
"I'm--" If he wasn't already on the ground, he'd have lost his balance by now. He'd have hit a lot harder when he finally did drop limp and pale, to the ground.

Harper's eyes go wide in fear, and maybe in shock. "J-Jamie?" His voice is scared, small, what the heck just happen? Is he dead? Oh god Harper hopes not. He's never met any of Jamie's family but he guesses they could be scary. "J-Jamie... ar-are you okay?" Harper guesses not since he's just passed out. Harper takes a deep breath and tries to calm his nerves. His house isn't that far from here right? He's a little buzzed too, it's like in that book he read. The alcohol will make the walk seem a few seconds long right? Harper's never been drunk before, he doesn't know what's true and what's not. He makes an attempt to lift Jamie. The boy is taller than him, but Harper guesses he's not exactly heavy. He somehow manages to lift him, and eventually, both boys managed to get to Harper's house. A maid lets them in and helps Harper get Jamie upstairs and into Harper's bed. Harper crashes on the floor because he thinks Jamie should have the whole bed. Guests and all right...? (Really, he's just too tired to climb onto the bed.) JAMIE MARTINELLI

Jamie is used to waking up in unfamiliar places - park benches, empty classrooms. He isn't used to waking up in unfamiliar beds. He isn't used to being hungover either. This is a morning of firsts, sitting up with a headache and in a stranger's bed.
Except, it isn't a stranger, he realizes when he squints against the bright lights of morning and makes out his surroundings. He's been in this room before, plenty of times. "Harper?" He mumbles, running a hand through his tousled hair.
God, what happened last night?

He's dreaming when Jamie calls his name, but his voice wakes him from his slumber. He blinks a few times and realises he's got his face pressed against a cold wooden floor and he jumps up. He stumbles a few steps and reaches out for the bed to steady himself. His head hurts, he wants to throw up, he feels gross. "Y-yeah Jamie...? Wha-what's up?" The only coherent thought he has is, why isn't he in bed with Jamie?JAMIE MARTINELLI

His memory hasn't caught up with things quite yet, and he jumps, the bed springs creaking beneath his sudden movement when Harper stands up, suddenly by the bed. He looks unsteady on his feet, and Jamie's hand reaches out for him on instinct, hovering in the air awkwardly. He looks at his own hand as if it had moved on his own violation rather than any conscious movement of his.
His throat is dry as he swallows and his voice is raspy when he speaks. "Um," Jamie clears his throat, averting his eyes. "D-did we..?"

Did they...? Did they what? They got drunk, and stumbled into Harper's house way later (or was it earlier?) than they should've and then they both passed out. What else could they have do- Oh wait. Harper's cheeks go bright red at the sudden realisation of what Jamie means. "N-no! W-we didn't... at least I don't think we did...! U-unless you m-mean, uh... som-something else..?"JAMIE MARTINELLI

Jamie is hardly a normal teenage boy, but he is a teenage boy.
He nods, lowering his hand. He stares down at the bed sheets to avoid Harper's eyes, before realizing that he's on his bed, still fully dressed. He scrambles off, putting the bed between him and Harper, holding onto a bedpost to curb the dizziness from standing too quickly.
"Er," a bit of nausea wells up, and he presses his lips together. He doesn't know if he'll be able to finish saying what he wants to say. "Bathroom..?" He croaks, and it's only sort of a question, as he takes a few shaky steps towards where he already knows it is.
That isn't what he wants to say, but it's what he needs to say, before he gets sick in Harper's room. Before he makes this even more uncomfortable than it already is.

"O-oh! It's um, over there." Harper tries to keep his voice level, but he fails and he winces at the sound of his own voice. He notices Jamie walking towards the bathroom already and feels a little ashamed because of course the other boy already knew where the bathroom was. Why did he think that he didn't? He feels like an idiot, but he trails after Jamie. He doesn't really feel sick, his stomach isn't exactly settled but he can deal with it. Jamie is more important right now. Harper offers up some direction, but Jamie is already at the bathroom, shutting the door behind him. He doesn't do it loudly, but the sound still makes his headache flare up. He shuts his eyes.
When he opens them and looks in the mirror, he looks awful. More than usual. The perpetual bags under his eyes look especially dark. He looks sickly pale. He runs some cool water from the tap, splashes it on his face and tries to slick down his hair with a damp hand. The very thin silver lining is that he doesn't think he's going to throw up. His mouth is dry, and he cups his hands, drinks right from the tap.
He can hear Harper outside the door – part of him never wants to come out, but he can't hide in his bathroom forever. "Er, just a minute." Jamie wants to run – not home, not that he'll be in trouble; but he doesn't want to face Harper either. He grabs a towel from a rack and dries his face.

Harper wonders if he's done something wrong, is Jamie mad? He wonders and his brain just keeps coming up with all sorts of scenes and scenarios, stupid ones but ones his lovestruck, gullible brain believes. A maid comes in to tell Harper that breakfast is being served downstairs if him and Mr. Jamie would like to eat and Harper smiles and thanks her before going back to thinking about Jamie. He'll eat after Jamie comes out of the bathroom. He takes a seat on the bed before laying back on it. "Hey Jamie, do you- do you still remember last night?" He tries to keep his voice quiet, his head hurts too much. His mouth is dry and tastes gross, he feels gross, and he's still tired. Today is not his day he guesses. JAMIE MARTINELLI

He slings the towel back onto the rack haphazardly, and then spends longer than he needs to setting it straight again. Harper asks him if he remembers, and Jamie's brow furrows in thought. The silence draws out, as they tend to in conversations with Jamie.
Then he brings himself to push open the door, seeing Harper stretched across the bed. He averts his eyes, standing awkwardly in the bathroom doorway. He links his fingers together, unlinks them, fidgets. "A bit..." Not much after the first couple drinks.

"Oh..." Harper feels a little sad, does that mean he doesn't remember the kiss? Harper figures it does. Lame, though he wonders if he should outright ask Jamie if he doesn't. He probably should, he takes a deep breath to calm his nerves, "So, um, does that mean you don't remember the k-kiss...?" Please say no, please say you remember, please say it and make Harper feel like he isn't a complete loser. JAMIE MARTINELLI

The memories are vague, hazy, and as usual Jamie isn't sure what really happened and what didn't really happen. Harper asks about the kiss, and Jamie thinks he just might throw up now. He remembers a kiss, he remembers how soft Harper's lips were and how solid he felt in his arms, but he doesn't know if he should admit it. If it had been a dream - well, who dreams about kissing their best friend?
"Uh, I -" his voice is raspy, and he has to clear his throat, almost losing his resolve to keep going when he speaks. His knuckles are white, fingers linked so tightly. "Did that really happen?"
