It was way too late, or way too early, to be awake. Winnie found herself wandering the streets, it was an oddly calming habit of hers. It was chilly despite it being summer and she regretted not throwing on a jacket. Her coral jean shorts and thin knit sweater didn’t do much to keep her warm. She was lost in thought as she rounded what she thought was a corner, but what really ended up being an alley. Rule number one of being on the streets late at night, stay the fuck away from alleys. Of course she’d break that rule tonight of all times, when she wasn’t looking for trouble. Winnie backtracked and tried to scurry out of the alley but a hand clasped around her arm and the smell of alcohol hit her nose. “What’re you doing here Miss, you want some?” A half empty labeless bottle of something resembling piss, and a clear satchel of something powdered was offered up to her. “No, I-I’m fine.” Winnie stuttered due to the cold and tried to tug her arm away. “ Come on, don’t ruin the fun.” This man obviously wouldn’t take no for an answer so she kicked him as hard as she could, hitting him in the gut and making him double over. A string of profanities ending in ‘you bitch!’ came from him. She hadn’t heard that one before, rolling her eyes she attempted once more to leave the alley but was blocked by a few other dudes with no lives. Winnie was beyond pissed, at herself and the dudes blocking her path. “Look you assholes, just leave me alone!”ANGEL ALESSI

There was a wad of cash in his bra – the only real reason to wear one - and it was making him squirm, the paper poking against his skin. There wasn't really anyone around to see, but it wouldn't have mattered if there was, as stuck a hand into his shirt, pulling crumpled, sticky bills out. He clenched them tightly in fist, before he pressed them against the nearest wall, pinned them with one hand while smoothing them out. Twenty, fourty, fourty-five, four—he wasn't watching where he wandered, and he glanced up at the sound of voices, clutching the bills to his chest with a white knuckled grip. He'd walked into some kind of shady alley business that always seemed to happen in these fucking shady alleys. The girl was obviously not interested, but Angel was no hero – he took care of himself and nobody else. He would have gladly turned right around and left this shady business to brew on its own if not for being pulled right into it. "And what are you doing here, you little whore?"It wasn't an insult. It was true. Angel still scowled, shoving the money away, though it might have been too late. He raised both his hands in a surrender motion, cocked his head. "Leavin' " He said simply, backing away a few steps, ready to bolt but hoping that the other woman kept their interest instead.

At the arrival of another person, she breathed a sigh of relief. She was all too ready to get out of there when the person quite definitely said they were on their way out. Winnie stood rooted to her spot and her mouth hung open just a bit. She had snapped, something in her brain said to fuck it all and just as one of the men blocking her tried to resume their act, he was pushed aside. Winnie took slow steps toward the new arrival and glared with her hands on her hips. The men were too confused to do anything right away giving her enough time to speak up. "And just where the fuck are you going? A person, I, am in trouble and you're going on your merry way?!" Her voice rose an octave and a level with every word. She couldn't believe the nerve of them! One of the others tried to grab her arm which she promptly evaded and then kicked him in the shin as well. She was too rusty to get into a brawl with all of them, so she settled on waiting for someone to make a move. ANGEL ALESSI

Angel wasn't much of a fighter. That wasn't to say he couldn't or wouldn't put up a fight if his life depended on it. But he wasn't going to risk his ass for a stranger, and probably not even a friend. He didn't really pay much attention to the woman until she whirled on him. He raised a brow, surprised that she seemed angry at him – Angel doubted she would have done any different if their positions had been reversed. He just chewed on his lip. "Yeah." One more shuffling step back, and he turned on his heel to sprint off before anyone else could get on his case. Sprinting wasn't all too easily a task – he wasn't smashed, at least – but he wished that he'd taken off his shoes, heels clicking against the pavement as he ran. His endurance was none too impressive either.

She snorted at his attempt to run. Wearing heels was never the best idea when you wanted to go for a jog. Winnie rolled up her sleeves and pushed through the remaining people, her sights set on the rude one. "Nu-uh, you can't escape from me you little shit!"Her steps were fast and heavy, thuds resounding as his doom neared. She was a few feet away from him before she started to reach out. "Stop right now or I swear to god I'll tackle you to the ground!"ANGEL ALESSI

He could walk in heels, easy. Running was another matter. He was sobered up, but there was only so fast he could go until he sprinted without abandon and risked a miss-step. A heel caught in a sidewalk crack, ankle twisting and sending him sprawling. "Fuck." Angel felt like a little kid fallen from the jungle gym – scraped knees and wounded pride. He wasn't in any unbearable pain, but it stung where he landed as he sat up and glanced over his shoulder. "I'm already on the ground, no fuckin need."

Her steps slowed after he went tumbling to the ground, and despite how much it looked like it hurt a smile spread on lips. "Serves you right."Winnie walked around to stare down at him eye to eye. "Now listen here. It isn't nice to leave someone alone in a situation like that! What goes around comes around and-" She squinted down at his face, and kneeled to get a better look. "Wait a minute, I fucking know you!" Her brain tried to process where she had seen him before. He looked too damn familiar. A moment before something clicked in her brain and a small gasp resounded. "Noah?!" She had to question it, she went to the island to get away from everyone on her home town not reunite with them. Although he wasn't someone she'd hate to see. ANGEL ALESSI

Angel just huffed a sigh, tucking a strand of disheveled hair behind his ear and shifting to sit more comfortably. He glanced up and she had walked around to face him - she was talking but he wasn't really listening. If she was trying to lecture him about morality and doing the right thing, she had picked the wrong person. And the wrong place - the people around at this time of night weren't the model citizens of Nova Athenis. But he was very good at ignoring people, and he just stared up at her with narrowed eyes, watching her lips move. At the sound of the name - was it even really his name any more? - he was definitely brought to attention. He looked at her - really looked at her - she did seem familiar. In a good way or not, he couldn't say quite yet. He should have denied it, but his lips parted in silence before he turned his face from her. None too subtly. People didn't really recognize him anymore, probably because they had long given up searching, but she must have gotten a good look at his face - he had such a pretty, unmistakable face. He wanted to get up and run - his heart was already pounding as if he was - but he was limp and heavy on the ground.

She gasped again and almost shook his shoulders. "It really is you!" Tears welled up in her eyes, it was a lame sentimental thing but in actuality she was really lonely there on the island. Plus, the situation from before had become bigger now that she realized her friend was involved. "I, I really missed you!" Her arms were thrown around his neck and she was hugging him tightly before he could say anything. Winnie hadn't seen him the longest of most friends from back home. He basically left before she had a chance to say bye and that was that. "I'm glad you're okay! Well, are you okay? Wait oh my god are you ok?! Should we call an ambulance holy shit ok breathe!"
She stood up quickly and grasped at her hair before offering her hands to help him up, then again with the questions. "How have you been, how old are you now? Where do you live, again sorry for chasing you uh... man I can't believe it. Noah, its been too long."ANGEL ALESSI

She sounded... happy. Relieved that he was here. He felt a little wash of relief too. The past two years had been one ongoing bender, and he hadn't thought of home during it. He didn't think anyone from home thought of him - this was a coincidence, anyways. Winnie. The name popped back into his mind as she wrapped her arms around him. Someone that he could trust. Maybe. Somewhat. He felt numb. He was usually more talkative than this, but he wasn't sure how to react. It was a bit of a nightmare, meeting someone who knew him from when he was a scrappy boy instead of a crossdressing hooker. But she wasn't the worst person he could have met. Not at all. He also really wasn't sure how to explain that. Noah would have hated the person he grew up into, and he wondered if Winnie would too. He wondered if he'd tell her. But for now, "Angel," he corrected, as he took her hand and got to his feet, dusting off his knees and the little bits of gravel stuck to them. "But you're still Winnie, right?" He gave a small smile. He just had to act like nothing had changed, even though he could hardly remember how things had been.

"Still Winnie, yeah. Although I should probably get a name change. You cant hide away effectively with the same name." She sighed, thinking of all the angry mail she had received from her mother and siblings. Which of course was promptly thrown away. "Angel?" Winnie tested the name in her mouth shrugging at it. It wasn't Noah, it didn't feel like him. But she figured he wasn't exactly who she knew before either. "It'll take some getting used to, no matter how fitting it is." She let out a laugh, still elated to see him. Offering her shoulder, she looked at him expectantly. "That looks like it hurts come on." She wanted to walk in any direction, just as long as it was further away from that alley. ANGEL ALESSI

He shrugged. Nobody had called him Noah in years, it didn't quite feel like his name anymore. It had lost its familiarity, and Winnie's going along with his new name put him at ease. If anyone was going to find him again, he was glad it was her. The wrong people could have him in deep water. She was hiding away too. He surveyed her a moment before wrapping an arm around her shoulders, leaning onto her. He didn't weigh much, not for his height. He didn't doubt she couldn't support him. He didn't doubt she could have fended for herself back in the alleyway. "No hard feelings?" He said with a sheepish grin and a glance over his shoulder.

Expecting a drop to her left, or at least some sort of dip, Winnie readied herself only to be left level with where she was. "Jeez! You don't feel like anything, have you been eating? Have you even had dinner?" Winnie looked at him with slightly wide eyes, now visibly worried for his health. "Lord if I have to start making you lunch I will." With a huff, she started off towards her home. Not quite thinking about where he would have been headed or where he lived. "I would hope you'd forgive me actually. For chasing you like that." Her laugh was sheepish as well, if not a bit embarrassed. "My temper seems to be the only thing I can't shrug off." She could hide her naturally pissy attitude, or her scars. She could hide where she was from(well not with Angel) but for some reason, when her tension rose so did her temper. As well as all the volatile things she had been holding back on saying. "I'm working on calming down, honestly!" Enough about her, however, what was on her mind was him. "How come I haven't seen you since I've been here?"ANGEL ALESSI

Angel considered the question, then he grimaced as if the idea of eating was unfamiliar and ungraspable. Not that he didn't eat, he just... couldn't remember the last time he'd had lunch. He slept through most usual means, he subsisted on what people offered him, mostly. That was how it worked really, the only things he did himself were grooming and drinking. He scoffed, amused. It had been a long time, and Angel felt like he'd changed enough to barely be recognizable. Winnie said it was her temper that was the same as ever, but to him, she felt unchanged on just about every level. Not that his memories were detailed, but she still fit them about right. "Laying low..." He replied, vaguely. Suddenly he felt all too aware of the corner of a bill poking against his bare skin, of the bra full of bills. He wondered if she'd noticed. The idea of where they were headed didn't really occur to him. He was wandering anyways.

His appearance didn't phase her. She'd keep those questions for another time. Right now her mind was on the topic of conversation. "Laying low? Fair enough! At least we've finally crossed paths." It wasn't as if she was expecting to see him but now that she had she was more than glad. Soon their wandering led them to a corner street with a small store and a busy road, this snapped her out of where her mind had drifted and brought her back to her senses. "Shit! I wasn't even thinking about where to go."
She bit her lip nervously, not liking to be out so late on the streets she wasn't familiar with. Only bad things happened in places she didn't know well enough. "Um, um. Where do you want to go? More like where were you going?" Winnie wouldn't mind taking him back to her place, but if he had previous plans it'd make sense for her to let him go to them. ANGEL ALESSI
