| ❝ Akira made her way into the station. It's one, the sun is high in the afternoon sky. She'll be working until nine, taking her motley crew out on patrol and hopefully not making a fool out of the precinct in the process. The sergeant stifled a long sigh. The people she worked with here weren't much, she barely trusted any of them, but she had to deal with her lot. It had been her idea to run to Nova in the first place, and she had to live with the consequences. Quite literally. Akira entered the small armory they had and grabbed her equipment. A handgun, a baton, a pair of cuffs. She clipped a walkie onto the breast pocket of her black sergeant's uniform and put on her leather jacket. It was time to start the beat. She walked through the lobby of the station, to her office. It happened to be across the hall from the inspector's office, a fact that she loathed.
At least it didn't seem as if he'd shown up for his shift yet, which made her slightly less edgy. Nova this week had been quiet, so most officers were out doing things like give speeding tickets and writing fines for other minor infractions. It was boring but necessary work. |

Another day on the job for the hardest working cop of the Nova Athenis Police Department. He came in fifteen minutes late, in his sports car that looked stolen as opposed to owned by the man who drove it. He grabbed a stack of paperwork – needless to say, unfinished – from the passenger seat, to toss onto one of the desks on the way in. It was out of sight and out of mind by the time he reached his office. The pleasant surprise of the Sergeant helped push duty further into the realms of forgotten. "Morning, Sarge." He smiled. The clock in the hallway said it was long past noon, but he'd just woken up, and so it was close enough to morning. "You're looking sharp as ever." A pointed once over, a few moments of lingering gaze before his eyes snapped up to meet hers with a lazy grin, "Ready to catch some baddies?"@akira

hair back lay it down | The daily grind was a tedious one, and for Stiles it seemed to be filled with him doing more and more paperwork and writing up speeding tickets rather than chasing down actual criminals. Somehow, though, he didn't seem to mind it as much as the person across the aisleway from him was - what with his head in one hand and a very sleepy look on his face. Stiles wondered if he was going to actually fall asleep, and risk getting in trouble with one of the higher up people.
His gaze averted very quickly when he finished with the stack on his desk, something of a proud grin on his face. After an hour and a half of reading, signing, and flipping he was done. He was told that when he was finished, he could leave and go get lunch - his stomach growled in response to that - as he started packing up his bag. With a thud, another somehow bigger stack of papers landed on the corner of his desk, and the infamous Inspector Coelho walked by to go engage the Sergeant in a conversation.
Smile wiped clean, Stiles stared at the stack of papers, telling himself to go up to Raul and finally tell him what was up. That he wasn't going to sign another much bigger stack of papers, and that Raul should just get off his lazy ass and do it himself.
With a sigh he began unpacking his pen anyway. nimbus™ @akira @raul laika told me to join in so-- p.s. i'm sorry he's an antisocial duck. | like a vegas girl |

| ❝ Her eye twitched ever so slightly, when she heard him walking down the hall. Akira didn't need to see the good Inspector Coelho to know he was down the hall. The man's arrogance had a way of being transmitted through every cell of his body, every step he took. Her fists clenched briefly. Very few things made her lose her calm, but Coelho had been digging under her skin for the better part of four years. Being ex-SWAT didn't make you immune to being annoyed. She spotted Rhodes sitting at his desk, and she hadn't even noticed the rookie was there until Coelho so kindly "delegated" a stack of paperwork to the younger officer.
She was about to give him an earful when he came up to her, but the inspector beat her to it. "Afternoon, Coelho." the sergeant replied curtly. "An officer is supposed to be sharp all the time, especially in the face of a skyrocketing annual crime rate."
"Speaking of 'baddies', I see you've amassed quite a bit of documentation lately. Good work." She strode up to Rhodes' desk, scooping up the paperwork that was not his and giving an unsubtle glare to Coelho. "I'm sure someone as experienced as yourself will be able to get through this stack quickly, before we go on patrol. Rhodes has been working the morning shift so you don't have too, after all." In other words, she wasn't about to let the inspector push around fresh meat. God knows the precinct needed all the help they could get.

EAT A DICK FEATURING @akira @stiles Raul just smiled, unfazed by the terse reply; because that was always how Akira spoke to him, and he liked to imagine it laced with sexual tension.
He hadn't noticed the officer kid – what was his name? Ronald? Roan? Rhodes, right. It was a wonder than she remembered everyone's names, because he sure as hell didn't. Not until he glanced over his shoulder, his gaze stalking after Akira, and glancing to the papers as an afterthought.
"If you make that face too much, it'll get stuck that way." Raul told her with a warm smile. "And that would be a shame."
He took a hand from the pocket of his jacket, to motion towards the rookie at his desk. "Wouldn't it, Rhodes?"

hair back lay it down | Stiles glanced at the first paper in front of him, wondering how the hell someone like Coelho managed to rake up as much documentation as he had. It was outrageous - it was almost like he'd never filled out a formally written document in his life. Another sigh down, Stiles rolled his eyes as he continued reading anyway. The sooner it was done and out of the way, the sooner he'd be able to go home. Or be out on the streets again, he didn't mind working for a little longer as long as he wasn't at a desk.
Footsteps coming from behind him caused him to turn around, only to see Akira coming closer. Subconsciously, Stiles held his breath, waiting for his newly aquired stack to get even larger before Akira scooped it up. He thanked her, silently of course. "You're going out on a patrol?" If they weren't packed full of people, Stiles would ask if he could come along. Maybe he could show Raul that he wasn't to be mess with as well - or just push himself further under the inspector's radar.
Then he was being spoken directly to by Raul, probably aquiring a deer caught in the headlights look. Out of all the conversations he had to be dragged in on. "I- I think Sergeant Ledford looks fine." He shot an attempt at a glare in Raul's direction. nimbus™ @akira @raul doop | like a vegas girl |

It was about one in the afternoon, with the sun shining high in the sky and people bustling about to their daily duties after lunch. Valencia paused outside of the station to stretch, her hands reaching skyward, a content sigh escaping her lips as she relaxed her muscles. She had afternoon shift that day, and so had spent the morning doing miscellaneous sketches in the park.
Sketchbook tucked safely away in her bag, the artist made her way into the air conditioned station, the cool air a refreshing change from the blazing sun outside. Making her way through the lobby, Val spotted Akira and Raul, standing by the rookie's -Stiles, was that his name?- desk. "Good afternoon!" She greeted the trio cheerfully, reaching over the desk to ruffle Stiles' hair. "You all are looking as lovely as ever- Speaking of lovely, Akira's face is incredibly wonderful, don't you think?" She beamed at the others in an attempt to dissipate the irritated atmosphere. nimbus™ @akira @raul @stiles |

| ❝ Jesus he was annoying. The man even had the audacity to ignore her, his superior officially and morally. But she had to pick her battles, and at least Rhodes was no longer taking Coelho's shit lying down. The inspector bristled at his comment, turning away sharply. "You worry too much about my face, Coelho." You should be worried about yours, the sergeant seethed mentally.
She relaxed a little bit when Rhodes decided to stand up for her, clumsy as he was. She didn't particularly need it, but it was a kind gesture. At least this one wouldn't be ruined by the inspector's antics. Or so Akira hoped.
The terse sergeant finally broke into a tiny smile, or what others would call a neutral expression, when Valencia walked into the lobby. She let out a tiny sigh and shook her head. "Enough siliness about this." Her mind turned again to the task at hand. "We're to go out on patrol today, ticketing and other minor infractions." She turned to the rookie in particular before continuing, "As it's a slow week, you're all free to pack into the van and come along instead of fill out forms at the precinct."
Hopefully there wouldn't be any hiccups during their patrol. The sergeant could only pray.

EAT A DICK FEATURING @akira @stiles @valencia "Fine." He repeated. "I agree, she looks fine. Would you even hazard to say the sergeant looks damn fine today?" Raul leaned over the desk, cocked his head. He was sure Rhodes agreed, if even he would never dare admit it. He probably had wet dreams about the sergeant.
Was it Stiles who always did his paperwork for him? Maybe he could send a gift basket or something. Around Christmas, if he still remembered. He wouldn't. Raul's attention was back on Akira before Stiles could even meet his eyes.
Raul liked when he could tell, sometimes, that he was getting under her skin. But her expression brightened – as much as it could, when he was within a ten foot radius – and he followed her eyes to one of the few people around the station he knew by name. "Speaking of lovely, good morning Miss Valentine." He said, returning her grin with a lopsided one of his own.
"Oh boy. Do we get to shoot guns now?" He clapped his hands as if he was thrilled at the thought of patrols. He was, kind of. Being an inspector usually meant sitting in his office until something happened worth inspecting, but he didn't mind getting out sometimes. It was boring work, but seeing as he didn't do any work, what difference did it make?

hair back lay it down | The tension that was building up in his shoulders dissipated somewhat as Akira didn't take his attempt at trying to slide out of Raul's corner negatively. Then Raul spoke up again, managing to bring all of that tension back, and for a moment Stiles wasn't sure what to say. Actually, he was at a big loss for words - stuck at another dilemma of what to say. He opted to roll his eyes and focus more on what the other two were saying. It was a lot better than having one person upset at him, and what felt like another out to get him - and mid-thought his hair was ruffled which caused a squeak to come from him. In his defense, he had no idea Val was there - and arguably he still would have squeaked even if he knew that she was. "Good afternoon, Val." He considered her a friend, one of the few he did manage to have in this place, and decided a little while ago that dubbing her as Val was okay. Unless she said otherwise. He even managed a small smile, with Val nearby it became much easier.
That and he had someone to talk to while out on patrol with Akira and Raul.
He managed another eye roll at another one of Raul's - dare he say bad - attempts at hitting on Val. Silently he hoped that she'd turn him down, but after quickly realizing that the thought was rather rude of him, he took it back. As much as he disliked Raul, he didn't wish misfortune on him. Much. A little bit still would have been nice.
"Yes Ma'am." For some reason, he didn't find the thought of shooting guns as appealing as his coworker did, but then again if Raul wanted to do something it was probably either against the law, as ironic as it was, or at someone else's expense. nimbus™ @akira @raul @valencia why is writing long posts so easy for stiles omg | like a vegas girl |

"Ohh, we're going out today!" Valencia marveled, clapping her hands together. She, like her coworkers, did not share Raul's sentiment about shooting guns, but she was excited to be able to patrol today rather than sitting at her desk doing paperwork. "Well, what are we waiting for?" She grinned, slapping Stiles on the back. "Let me just put my bag at my desk, and we can go!"
The artist slipped past Akira and Raul, giving both of them a bright smile to reach her desk, tucking her bag underneath her desk before clipping a pair of handcuffs, a walkie talkie, and a handgun onto her belt. She had always been reluctant about the gun, but it had admittedly saved her life a couple of times. "Okay," she said, returning to the trio. "Shall we go then?" nimbus™ @akira @raul @stiles |

| ❝ Akira made a point of ignoring Coelho completely. It was too early in the shift to bother with his antics. Somehow she'd put up with him for years without breaking any of the good inspector's parts, might as well keep the record going for one more day. Having the forensic nearby did help her out with that, as Raul would have to divide his time between annoying her and flirting with Valencia. It was a bit harder to ignore his obvious enthusiasm for handling firearms, as if he thought they'd have a reason to use one. It seemed to make the other officers a bit edgy.
"Yes, I think we shall." She said, striding out the doors of the precinct and into the gated parking lot, grabbing the keys from a holder. She selected the closest van and unlocked the doors, sliding into the driver's seat herself. As if she would let Coelho drive. For all intents and purposes, it was exactly like a regular van, except the trunk space had been converted into a holding area for any criminals they might stumble upon. That, and the ridiculous blue and orange stripes on the outside that loudly proclaimed that they were a part of Nova's police force.
Akira turned on the police radio and left the FM untouched. She preferred silence to crap music. The sergeant had decided on her own that their first stop would be the East shopping district, ripe for ticketing. Despite herself, Akira was kind of excited.

EAT A DICK FEATURING @akira @stiles @valencia Valencia smiled at him and he smiled back before he slipped off to the armoury - while nobody was paying him any mind anyways. He didn't act like a cop and he certainly didn't look like one either - he kept his badge on him for when it was convenient, though.
And the guns, though nobody else ever seemed as excited about the guns. Most people with a similar mindset about guns were usually on the other side of the law. Funny, how well he got on with criminals.
He followed Akira out - it was a good angle, from behind. She rushed into the driver's seat while he trailed behind at a leisurely pace. Raul never rushed. "Shotgun." He called, though he was a few paces from the door and taking up passenger seat within seconds, slamming the door shut behind him and immediately turning to the Sergeant.
Casting a sidelong glance out the window, he leaned in towards the driver's seat, towards Akira. "What if we just... drove off." He curled his fingers into a gun shape, flicked the barrel towards the windshield. "Did some private investigating." He whispered, as if this were the most delicious of secrets leaving his lips.

| ❝ She drummed her fingers absently on the wheel, waiting for the others to fill in their seats in the rear. She had expected Coelho to take shotgun, as it was only proper for his position in the force. Not that it made her like it any better. Her face was set in a decidedly grumpy frown when out of sight from the younger officers. She had to make a show of tolerance when they weren't alone, but the inspector didn't seem to share any of her restraint when it came to trying to hit on her.
The yell of "Shotgun!" and the slamming of the door shortly thereafter informed her of his arrival to an uncomfortable proximity to her. She gave the inspector a sidelong glance only to regret it, his leering eyes closer to her than they rightfully should be. Her jaw clenched up. "Gods, what does he want now?" She wondered. Somehow, years of rejection and threats of battery did nothing to signal to the man that she was completely and thoroughly unavailable. She had also called him a pig and a shame to the force on separate occasions when she was really riled up.
Akira let out a lengthy sigh and glared through the windshield of the van. "Suggest anything of the sort one more time, and they might be investigating your disappearance in a few hours." She shot back, keeping her voice suitably low. She tried not to make a habit of openly saying she'd kill him, but sometimes it happened that Akira slipped. It wasn't hard to slip with Coelho around. She didn't know how Valencia dealt with him, the girl seemed far too forgiving for her own good. @stiles @valencia @raul |

hair back lay it down | While Akira headed straight to the van, Stiles reluctantly followed Raul to grab his own things - gun, badge, the works. Though he took his time, purposely giving Raul a rather large amount of time to get a ways ahead of him. Stiles was out of sight and out of mind, and that was just how he liked it. Kind of. He was out of Raul's mind and that was all that really seemed to matter as he waited for Valencia.
Though, he wasn't surprised when Raul was in the front seat. Stiles wasn't going to sit there anyway, not that he didn't mind being next to Akira but because he knew that Raul would have wanted the seat. It would mean having to contest for it, and Stiles just didn't care enough about a seat to go up against Stiles for it.
Instead he settled quietly in the back and fiddled with the badge, easily refraining from laughing at the tension between Akira and Raul. nimbus™ @akira @raul @valencia | like a vegas girl |
