He hadn't realised the warm glow bathing the entire apartment corridor. In fact, he hadn't thought twice about it until his eyes opened and he was here, yes, outside his teacher's apartment door with the funny looking door, sprawled against it and the mat, since the heavy rain last was gonna get himself soaked through and Nathan rather not... have that happen. He yawned audibly, wondering at which hour of the day he was gonna get himself kicked out. He stretched out his arms and legs, and then folded them back again, head still a numb haze, before giving himself a moment to stand up.

it was raining hard outside. the constant drumming of rain against her window was somewhat soothing to satsuki, although there was a melancholic atmosphere to it that put her in a solemn mood. even masamune had the sense to stay silent today. she didn't have much to do; school was out for the weekend, and it wasn't as if she really had anyone to keep her company on her days off. she was currently curled up on her couch, watching reruns of some comedic sitcom when she realized that she had yet to fetch the mail. reluctantly standing up from her comfortable position, satsuki stretched leisurely and made her way over to the door, slipping on a pair of sandals. the sight of nathan saunders standing outside her apartment, however, managed to distract her from her initial plan. "....nathan?" she asked, confused. @nath

Admittedly, he was standing rather awkwardly right in front of her door, on the mat. It would be strange for her not to find it strange, but Nathan thought it was pretty odd to find her not freaking out about him being outside someone's home. Surely they'd feel uneasy?
Nathan suddenly began to feel itchy, rubbing his eyes with tears falling out of them. He groaned; this must've been her annoying bird that she kept everywhere - he noticed him the last time he was in her apartment, free-loading and loving it.
"That's my name." He replied sheepishly, rubbing the back of his head. He then gestured to turn and almost walk away - surely she didn't want to have him around. Who would?

admittedly, satsuki was more confused than anything else to see nathan lingering in front of her door. she had allowed him to live in her apartment before, and assumed that he would return eventually when he left indefinitely. he looked a little lost, and so she tilted her head and regarded him carefully. "did you want to come in?" she asked quietly when he turned to leave. the days satsuki had spent housing nathan led her to realize a few things about him - one of them being that he didn't vocalize his true feelings very often. another was that he was deathly allergic to birds. "i'll put masamune back into his cage."@nath

He rubbed his nose, having now turned to face his teacher with a wary glance. It didn't take long for him to nod though, shifting his body more so he wasn't looking like some criminal in the making. He followed her in quietly, taking his shoes off like he had done so before.
As Nathan accepted her invitation, Satsuki turned to retreat back into her home, making for the room where Masamune resided. She murmured soothing words to the avian, letting him step onto her arm before placing him back into his cage. Stepping back out, she called out to the student. "I will be right back. I just need to pick up the mail."
He made a brief grunt in reply, trying to wipe down his tears and hope the redness in his eyes would die down. Nathan easily made himself at home though, moving to sit on his teacher's sofa. He squinted at the screen, thinking how none of the scenes made sense nor prompted laughter from him.
There was only a random bill in the mail, as well as a card from a friend way out in Japan. Opening it made her realize that it was presently Valentine's Day. Smiling, she set the card and bill down on the kitchen counter and returned to the living room, sitting down next to Nathan on the couch. "You can change the channel if you would like," she said, handing him the remote. "I just watch whatever happens to be on."
He watched her come back in, set the card on the table, and he scoffed. "You have nothing better to do on Valentines day?" Nathan made a face. Usually even he bothered to do something, however he was entranced by her smiling face. The Takamura-sensei he knew was bland boring and plain. "Do you have any beer? We should drink." The rain continued to batter against the window as he flickered through the channels lazily, until he found an old crime show programme.
"No," she replied quietly, drawing her knees up to her chest and wrapping her arms around them. "I spend my days off by myself. Although," she added, glancing at Nathan. "I seem to have company these days." She returned her attention to the tv, now absorbed in the program that was playing. Crime shows interested her greatly. "I do not drink alcohol," she answered distractedly. "And I do not believe that you are allowed to either."
"Oh come on." Nathan teased, turning to face her, moving strangely close. "I'll go get some. Won't you try something new?" He smirked. "At this rate you'll die alone you know."
Satsuki turned her gaze from the tv, a bit startled at the other's close proximity. "...I suppose just one is fine," she relented, getting up from the couch. "But you will have to go buy some." She retrieved her wallet and pulled out twenty dollars. "Here's some money; buy some snacks too, please." A glance out the window told her that it was still raining heavily. "The umbrella is by the door if you need it."
He smiled at her cheekily, not thinking that she'd ever give in so easily. He took the note from her hand and quickly headed to the door, grabbing the umbrella with him. A good twenty minutes later, a knock came from the door, and eventually, two packs of beer, nuts and a chocolate box ended up on the coffee table, and a very smug looking Nathan, who sat himself down beside her once more.
"That was fast," she commented, opening the box of chocolates. She was still reluctant to take a beer, and opted for the food first instead. The crime show was still playing quietly in the background; apparently it was running a marathon of the entire season. "Please refrain from drinking yourself to oblivion."
Like hell he was gonna dawdle around with beer in his presence. He pulled one out and opened it with his teeth, clugging it down straightaway. He gave a sigh of satisfaction once the bottle was halfway to being empty.
At the sight of Nathan draining the first bottle of beer Satsuki tried not to wince and bit into a chocolate, eyes lighting up at the caramel filling. "The alcohol isn't going to disappear," she commented lightly, scraping chocolate off her finger. "You might choke if you drink so fast." There was a hint of warning in her voice.
He swirled the remaining drink in the beer bottle, albeit to humour her. He did slow down though, slumping next to her, head resting on her shoulder and throwing more blanket over himself. It didn't take long to eventually get down to his last drop, and he grinned to himself, feeling a little bit woozy already. He then grabbed a chocolate, dangling from mid air and dropping it into his mouth with a satisfied grin.

the sensation of hair brushing her neck and the weight on her shoulder made her smile a little. it was actions like these that whispered reminders of how nathan wasn't all sly words and charming smiles. feeling particularly daring, she reached out to grab a beer, opening it and taking a sip. @nath

Nathan widened his eyes, laughter spilling from his lips. He clapped and cheered, immediately putting down the bottle in his hand onto the table and grabbing a can, guzzling it down slowly, wondering how far his teacher could take it.
"You don't strike me as someone who drinks a lot," He joked, turning to face her and smiling into her neck.

"I don't drink a lot," satsuki replied, sighing at his dramatic reaction. she felt his lips curved into a smile against her neck and a shiver ran down her spine. she lifted the bottle up to eye level and shook her head. "it is probably better for me to just stick with one bottle," she commented, taking another sip. the taste of the drink was unfamiliar, and she swallowed thoughtfully. in truth, this was only her second time drinking alcohol, and she did not exactly want a repeat of what had happened the first time.

He was finding this all a little weird, how she wasn't telling him off or stopping his advances. He nuzzled into her neck a bit more, because he was feeling it. Now, he wondered how far he could get with his own teacher. This was definately going to be a new experience.
"Down it down it!" He cheered, whispering in her ear closely. Now he'd never be able to get shit from her now, could he?

another nuzzle into her neck made her shift uncomfortably, and she took him by the back of his collar and pulled him away from her, an annoyed expression on her face. "stop that," she said sternly, fixing him with a stare. "at first i thought you were being boyish, but now you aren't." satsuki released him and sat back into the couch, pulling the blanket over her lap. she returned her attention back to the tv, which was still playing the crime show from before.

Did that rejection stop him? No, of course not. He smirked instead, hand reaching up as if to block the light from above. He leaned back on the sofa, hand dangling back, watching his hand with his beer can swaying slightly. No beer tasted better than free beer.
"What d'ya mean, boyish?" He laughed openly, making sure not to spill his beer as he took another long sip. "More like you shudda known what you gettin' yourself into by having me here." He narrowed their distance all of a sudden, nose poking at her cheek.
"Aren't you just playing hard to get?" He offered with a daring smile. "That's ok, I dig that."

she sighed and pushed him away from her, keeping him at arms' length away. "if you aren't careful, i'll release the bird," she threatened, not taking her eyes off the television. "I'm not someone for you to play with," she added flatly. "nor am I one of your short flings."
she reached over to take the can on beer from his grasp. "and I think you've had enough alcohol."

"Man!" With a knee on the sofa, he rose from where he was sitting, the blanket falling off him a little. "What is wrong with you? What's wrong with enjoying company?" He squinted at her, taking the beer off her again, only to down it all himself with satisfaction and a sigh. He placed it down on the table with conviction, and then turned to face her suddenly without a single word, even lifting her chin up with a finger.
Then, after what seemed like forever, he smiled.
"Where's the remote?"

"nothing, of course," satsuki replied nonchalantly, unfazed by his words. "it is just that you and I enjoy company in different ways." she took a drink of her beer, longer this time. "not to mention that we probably enjoy different types of company as well." she raised an eyebrow as nathan took back his beer, although she gave no protest, giving up on trying to maintain his alcohol intake. the finger on her chin surprised her though, and she held her breath as seconds ticked by without a word between them.
his sudden request made her mutter in japanese under her breath, and she tossed him the remote before taking another drink from her bottle. she would probably have to get a little tipsy in order to pass the night.

"Pshhh, you're a teacher. Of course you're boring." Nathan shrugged, but nodded approvingly when she drunk more beer. Obviously either Valentines was depressing her or Nathan had really got to her. Either way, it was working in his favour.
He caught the remote easily and flicked through the channels, stopping at some rom com thing. He'd seen enough of them with soppy ex-girlfriends to know when he saw one, so he placed the remote on the table, wrapped himself up with the blanket and made sure to sit close to his teacher.
"It's Valentines, so cheesy Valentine vomit crap is a must. Only time of the year when it ain't a crime."
