The pinkette walked down the shop-lined street, her head turning this way and that, window shopping. She saw a dress she liked, and walked over to the window to get a closer look. It was red and white.
Amelie figured she'd buy it - after all, it was cute. She took a few steps and right as she reached for the handle, felt a tap on her shoulder and whirled around. "Yeah?" she said, surprised at who it was.

He grinned sheepishly, scratching the back of his head when she turned around. Two shopping bags were in his other hand, and his trademark coat slung on his body as if the weather was actually cold enough for it.
"Hey, Amelie, right?" He smiled, smooth French filtering out of his mouth, tilting his head as if trying to run over the possibly of it being his cousin from so long ago. He hadn't seen her in years - that was no understatement. "It's been ages! How've you been! You are Amelie, right, Amelie Fenn, my dear cousin?" He laughed easily at his joke.

She hadn't seen Frank in ages. Actually, Amelie was pretty sure she hadn't seem him since they were kids. Why he needed to talk in French was beyond her. English was the main language on Nova. "Of course it's me, Frank," she said in English. She had a slight accent.
Unable to come up with a suitable conversation, she tried to make small talk. "So, um, how're you doing? Got a job or are you at the university?" Amelie said, pretty sure Frank was still at a student age. He didn't look older than 23, at the oldest.

"Forgetting the mother tongue now?" He switched to English. At first, conversing in French seemed like a good idea, but the only one he spoke French to was Noemi. Things had to be clearer cut in his life or else it would run amok and ruin him.
"I..." He laughed, scratching at his head, trying to figure out the words to best explain his situation. "Well... not exactly. It's been hard on me." He chuckled easily like it was some joke he'd just told her, instead of an awkward circumstance he didn't want to explain.
"How about you?"

"Mmm, I'm so forgetful, I've forgotten my first language," she said, rather sarcastically. Honestly, the girl wouldn't have minded forgetting French. It had too many rules. It was also easier without all the accents that went every which way over every letter.
"Um, what's been hard on you? The sidewalk, the hot dog cart guy?" Amelie asked. She had to know. Frank was her cousin, after all, and she felt like he could tell her if something was going on.
