She had time for it. She'd make time, because her family wouldn't let her otherwise, but she kept her mouth shut on the subject. She didn't know much about Nathan's home life, but she heard enough around to get the gist of it.
She looked at him, not too subtly either. The fact that he hadn't asked didn't really bother her, because her other friends invited themselves over all the time. Something about it did pique her curiosity, just the tiniest bit, and she nodded as much. "Yeah, sure. He might lick your face a lot, though."

Nathan laughed. It felt easy and free, and maybe he did feel that way, just for a moment. The door to detention was just ahead, and Nathan was already feeling a migraine coming on. He scratched at his head as if to prove that point, as if he could pull an infected thought out of his head and then he'd be fine. Just fine.
"That's... cool. I'm cool with that." He replied, a little lost, so his enthusiasm was lacking. "But here we are, huh." He stared down at her, looking more unsure of himself than ever, for some odd reason.
